Nicely done game POSSIBLE SPOILER..if you don't want to know extras I am loving this game. Graphics are awesome. Storyline so far is a good one, you can set your challenge level 4 ways (one being custom setting). Inventory locks into place.. The are plus indicators on inventory items for things you have to do with them. Hidden objects scenes that I have came across in the last 30 minutes of play have been find and use type. Puzzles are fairly easy. There is one collectible to find in every scene and there is a area that keeps track of the number collected, it stays grey until you find it then turns purple. The best part I have found so far is NO RUNNING AROUND...most scenes you use what you find almost immediately. Not sure what the time is on skipping puzzles or hint refills as I am using custom level and again this is just what I have found so far in game play. There is a little extra something you have to do throughout the game, which is fairly new as far as in any games I have played. Over all, I would have to rate this game a 10/10. Great little weekend gem. Happy St. Patty's day to all and enjoy the game!!!! March 14, 2015
Weird and Wonderful! I played the Beta of this game and it took me over 2 hours to complete and I felt lost when the demo ended as I just wanted to carry on playing. The game starts with a dramatic opening scene, not fire and brimstone, it?s a black/purpley/pink infection that lands on the earth. This is a very colourful game, great music, voiceovers and good lip synch. Length: 5 Chapters and the Bonus Game. Levels: Casual, Advanced, Hard and Custom. Options: When I opened the game it did not appear as full screen, I had to click on Full Screen in the options menu. Map: It?s a jump map that clearly shows active areas. Inventory: Lockable. Journal: Highlights what you have recently completed and records info you might need, i.e. a 4 digit code to open something. HOPS: They started with Find & Use and then went on to a List, all very interactive. Mini Games/Puzzles: Very varied and beautifully done, and not too hard to complete. Helper: An unobtrusive Siamese Cat who fetches things that are out of reach and when needed she attacks! Achievements: There are 20 of them, some quite different, i.e. Ice Cream and Uninvited Guest. Extras: Wallpapers, Concept Art, Music, Cut Scenes and Making Of. Collectibles: 48 evil faces and some are quite difficult to find as they are usually hiding in dark places. There is a small purple button on the right side of the inventory that indicates whether you have found the evil face or not by turning purple. An Additional Extra: Unlock at least one Evil Face in the game or finish the Bonus to unlock the Evil Hunt mode. March 14, 2015
I LOVED IT - SO MUCH TO DO WITH LOTS OF GADGETS REVIEW OF COMPLETED GAME AND BONUS It was a great surprise when I saw this game because I thought the 1000 doors series had finished. Well, it looks like there are going to be more. The previous 1000 Door games were Family Secrets, Serpent Flame and the Palm of Zoroaster. This time you play Emily who finds out she is a family member of the Lancasters. The main game is played by Emily to rescue Sammy, the Artist, Gabriel and Kate. The bonus game is played by Kate to find the source of the infection from the meteorite. She has a light gun to help her. There is: * Voiceovers; * Casual, Advanced, Hard and Custom modes of play; * Interactive map; * 20 Achievements; * Journal; * Arya the Siamese cat to help you get objects out of reach; * Find 48 evil faces. In the Custom mode you can turn off hints and skips to make it harder. I loved that. You have the power of light in your hand which will cure infection. You also have two other gadgets to use. These are: ~ A Chronograph which will repair broken objects; and ~ A Telescope which will see hidden objects. You will use your hand power and the gadgets a lot throughout the game. The graphics this time are very different from the last three games. They are very colourful and a little cartoony. However, it didn't take me long to get used to them. Everywhere is clear to see and to undertake tasks. Sound and voiceovers are good. The orchestral music played quietly in the background and I didn't really notice it that much. The hidden object games were silhouette, fragmented parts and straightforward. However, I noticed there were a lot more interactive straightforward HOS - you know the ones - find one item to use to find another item, etc than the other two. There were a lot of mini-games to play. Some of these were build four trains, rotate the keys to each keyhole, use the frog to collect all coins, divide the red and green gems into pairs, paint the canvas with one colour, placing dominos where they belong, etc. Some of these were very easy but others took me a long time to do. Finding all 48 evil faces was hard. These are in the game and bonus. You really have to look carefully to find them. There is one per scene. You will notice at the bottom of the scene that the evil face is dark and will go a pinky colour once found. It is possible to get most, if not all, of the achievements. Some of these are collecting all the 48 evil faces, doing HOS and mini-games under a minute, watching all the videos, etc. All up the game and bonus took me about 10 hours. There is so much to do and I really enjoyed playing the game. There are a lot of locations to cover but you tend to stay in the same vicinity until all tasks have been done. I didn't need to use the interactive map at all. Happy playing fishies. This is a gem. March 14, 2015
Can you save the world? Your family? The House? This is the fourth in the series and doesn't disappoint. You are Emily Lancaster and it is up to you to use your Inner Light - which you didn't know you had! - to save the world from the infection that arrived with a meteorite. You are taken by Kate Read through a portal to the House of Lancaster, where it seems you are the last in a line of gifted relatives. The infection gets the House, and three of your relatives become "evil" as a result. So it is up to you to fix everything! You have the "Hand of Light" that lets you click on a diseased item, trace it, and cure it. You do that a lot in the first 10 minutes or so; not so much afterward. The storyline is a bit complicated. To rescue your kitty from the infection, you have to solve a mini-puzzle to get a cage, find a toy car and a key, then solve a complicated HOS to get a mouse so your kitty will follow the toy into the cage where he can be cured! Phew! Your kitty then becomes your helper for those high places you can't reach. The HOS are very interactive, requiring actions in order to get each item to help you get the next item to eventually getting the final item. The mini-games, while not necesarily unique, require a bit of trial and error patience. Each scene has a collectible evil face, with an on-screen icon to remind you to look for it. Finding the faces, or completing the bonus game lets you play Evil Hunt. There is also the Making Of, plus 20 achievements that are either game-based, or hint/skip related. There is so much to do, the graphics are great, and the lips move in the voice-overs. Try it yourself and see! March 14, 2015
Awesome job team! This team did a superior job on this game. This to date is my favorite game. I am loving every aspect of it. Emily is totally adorable. Arya the cat is great. I am a cat lover through and through, so it's great to have her along. I love animal helpers. A roll with the punches kinda gal. Awesome sense of humor. The VO's in this game were brilliantly done. At the time of writing this review I played the game for around 2 1/2 hours and now flaws in the least. Story: Emily was at home and in her photography studio living and ordinary life (as she put it), when there was a knock at the door from a lady by the name of Kate Reed. She told Emily she is in danger if she stays here and showed Emily a purple meteorite heading straight for them. She got Emily into the car and off they went to the House of Lancaster through a portal. She met Gabriel, (the owner of the House of Lancaster) and got the lowdown of what's going on. She finished things up at her place, grabbed the cat, (I wouldn't leave my cat either lol), and off she goes. Now on the the rest of the story. Graphics: Superbly done. The way you guys did the robots everything, it looks so real. Music: Couldn't fit the game better. Adds to the suspense of the game. But you guys to me always did have the best music ever. Mini Games: The ones I played are totally original and a nice change of pace. Finally get some new blood in the mini games. They are really fun to play and a challenge, but just right. H0GS: A very nice variety. But this team even in their SE's always had a nice variety of H0GS. There is my one favorite type of using one item to get another, then to find parts for a particular object. Just a variety. Hint System: I don't use it in H0GS, but if you get stuck, it works beautifully outside of H0GS. I honestly don't see how you could get stuck in the game. Map: Four green arrows is current location, Pink dot is location has objectives, Question mark not discovered yet, and Check mark location completed. It is also a jump map. Again, awesome job guys. Kudos to the team! March 14, 2015
SO GOOD I don't understand why the rating is so poor. I played every game of the serie and this one is a very good sequel. Graphics, music, mini-games, just un good amount of HOG. I prefer adventure game than HOG and this one pleased me a lot. Thank you, Big Fish. March 21, 2015
I loved it! I have played all the 1000 Doors games and this one is as great as the others. I like the story and the new member of the family. I also enjoyed the bonus game and looking forward to the next 1000 Doors game. It will be really interesting! March 31, 2015
love this game im not a big 1000 door fan so i wasn't going to try this game but im glad i did. nothing like the other ones to my recollection. the music reminds me of a claymation . game called the neverhood i. and i love all the robots. fun game. only thing i don't care for is the hand to green goop stuff i just skip it. very few hog so far and am hoping it stays that way. mini games nothing new i recommend this game March 16, 2015
Fantastic journey I really enjoyed ! Take on the roll of Emily and help save you new friends the Lancaster family. Friends that is until evil darkness sets in and causes an epidemic infection. Fans of Steampunk, portal doors, and excellent graphics are sure to enjoy this 4th edition of House of 1000 doors. Armed with a gifted hand of light, a chronograph monocle that reveals, and a paintbrush to destroy objects to aid you in your quest. I total enjoyed this high octane adventure. Great unique HOS and puzzles which used lots of brain power, awesome lip sync vo's too. Jump map included but I didn't use, I like to remember where I need to return. Be sure to check out ACHIEVEMENTS, COLLECTIBLE EVIL FACES, Wallpapers, Concept Art, Music, Cut Scenes, the Making Of, a built in Strategy Guide and the Bonus Chapter! March 15, 2015
