Off the Record: The Final Interview Collector's Edition 3.9 5 36 36
Deadly Confessions Calvin Reedley is an aging but well respected horse breeder who want's to tell you a story, a story about his past and the mistakes he's made. This "confession" is a once in a lifetime opportunity, investigators like yourself only dream about. Unfortunately, an automobile accident on your return trip causes a severe case of amnesia, you don't even remember the interview with Calvin, much less the context of the story! You were unconscious for nearly three days and now the police are investigating you as their prime suspect for the attempted murder of Mr. Reedley! This confession may be deadly, unless you can piece together your past by piecing together Calvin's past, you just might be found guilty, of murder! It's bittersweet, this is a well known series that captivates its audience and provides us with solid entertainment from beginning to end. We've traveled all corners of the globe, from Paris to Devonshire, and uncovered thieves of every kind imaginable, Off The Record of course. We can only hope that Final Interview is the end because the devs have something epic in store for the beginning of a brand new adventure, perhaps On The Record next time! They threw everything they had into this game, it's jam packed with all kinds of goodies (I even think I saw the kitchen sink) Complex inventory items, Achievements, Morphing Objects, Hidden Alphabet Letters, Collectible Hats (finding 6 Hats will unlock bonus HOP's & Mini Games) and 43 Hidden Teapots. Let me tell you, they are cleverly blended into the scenery, some are only partially visible, which make them more of a challenge and way more entertaining. The Hidden Object Scenes are incredible, most of them are entertaining and plain ole fun. There are several types of HOP's and there is at least one Morphing Item in each HOS (there is an icon that will indicate if a morph is present) Most of the HOP's have more than one type, text listed items, finding icons to match text, descriptions of items, multiples of a single item, Fragmented pieces, silhouetted shape finds and even sketches of 2 items that give you clues of an item when combined or associated with. There's a Hidden Object Puzzle to please just about everyone. The Mini Games are a bit on the easy side, but I have played a lot of games, and maybe it's just that I'm too familiar with them. If you don't want to know what puzzles are in store for you, skip the next section, I'll list a few memorable puzzles. 1) Climb a rope by matching identical pairs (this makes no sense to me) 2) Recreate symbols combining different shapes. 3) Use directional arrows to guide a knob from top to bottom through paths that can be manipulated open and closed. 4) Steer a scooter using directional arrows. 5) Arrange different obstacles around a horse racetrack so that all horses arrive at the finish line at the same time. This Collector'd Edition has a Souvenir Room, 17 Hidden Object Scenes, 20 Mini Game Puzzles, 9 Music Soundtracks (which are recordable) 7 replayable Videos, 11 Wallpapers, 11 Concept Art pictures, 6 Collectible Hats (which unlock bonus HOP's & Puzzles) Morphing Objects within the HOP's (one of which has multiples) 43 Hidden Teapots (very fun to find because they are cleverly hidden) a built in Strategy Guide, a Bonus Chapter and a must see Tribute Video......farewell, enjoy! A WINNING ?FINAL LAP? FOR A GREAT GAME SERIES SLATED TO BE PUT OUT TO PASTURE BASED ON THE FIRST 4 CHAPTERS - 6 CHAPTERS PLUS A BONUS CHAPTER EIPIX has produced an excellent departure game for it ?final lap? of the Off the Record series. Canter back to 1952 England and the world of horse racing. As an investigative journalist interviewing a renowned horse breeder, Calvin Reedly, you find yourself drawn into a case involving blackmail, fraud and deception. This game is an excellent whodunit which will keep you guessing as to the culprits in the game. The graphics and video sequences are exquisite. I thought the HOP scenes were well-done, creative and innovative. Most of the HOP scenes are multiple-step involving a variety of different formats ? rebus, cryptic clues, silhouette, and lists of items to locate with a puzzle-like twist and even a FROG scene. There are an equal number of HOP scenes and puzzles. Most of the puzzles are very easy. They include variations of matching, manual dexterity, maze/pipe puzzle, and a moving tiles puzzle. The one puzzle I did enjoy the most was a mathematical/physics problem with getting horses to finish a race at the same time. In their latest newsletter, EIPIX informed everyone that this would be the last game in the Off the Record series. This game is a nice farewell tribute to that series. You might want to jump on your horse and play this game before the series is put out to pasture. With the sale this weekend, it is well worth the discounted price. AFTER THE DEMO: The next two chapters see you collecting more clues throughout the town as you try to overcome amnesia. Chapter 3 is short; however, Chapter 4 is very long. I did not completely finish Chapter 4. The puzzles again vary in difficulty from very easy to difficult. One of the puzzles I found a little challenging as well. There are an equal amount of puzzles and HOP scenes; however, I did not think the HOP scenes were as creative as in the demo. LEVELS: Easy, Medium, Hard, Custom Hints 10 to 120 seconds Skips 10 to 400 seconds There is the option for a HOP error penalty if you wish EXTRAS: Map - Map is provided as you play the game 16 Achievements Collect 43 Teapots, Collect 17 Letters Collect 6 Hats 16 Morphing objects Strategy guide - 38 pages Usual wallpaper, artwork, video, music Replay 17 HOP scenes and 20 puzzles A tribute video to the series HERE ARE THE DETAILS (SPOILERS) FOR THOSE WANT MORE INFORMATION ON THE HOP SCENES AND MINI-GAMES HOP SCENES: A. Multiple-step. First locate international symbols for items encountered traveling. This is followed by a mini-jigsaw puzzle to piece together the map for the game. Finally, receive a cryptic clue to locate an inventory item. B. Multiple- step. First locate 5 each of two items ? dominoes and chess pieces, followed by rebus clues to identify items to be located. Finally, one cryptic clue is given to provide an inventory item. C. FROG. Find pieces to create an inventory item. D. Multiple-step. First, locate items with rebus clues to locate items followed by a series of cryptic clues to locate items. Finally locate items using silhouette clues. AFTER THE DEMO: E. Silhouette. F. One cryptic clue followed by a list of items to locate, followed by a cryptic clue to receive an inventory item. G. Silhouette sequence followed by a cryptic clue to receive and inventory item H. Rebus clues followed by a cryptic clue to receive an inventory item MINI-GAMES: A. Multiple-step. First, play a variation of a matching puzzle going up a cliff following by a variation of a manual dexterity puzzle. Avoid falling rocks by some quick maneuvering using arrows to veer right and left. EASY B. A variation of a matching puzzle. Choose and combine disks to recreate 5 images on a dial. EASY C. A variation of a combination maze/pipe puzzle. Use arrows to move a knob from top to bottom of a maze in which you must move interconnecting links to continue movement in the maze. You may need to backtrack some of your moves in order to get the links to move into place. MODERATELY DIFFICULT D. A variation of a manual dexterity puzzle in driving a motor scooter. However, you DO NOT have to choose the direction while driving the motor scooter. The arrow and direction are given to you. There is really no challenge in this ?puzzle.? BEYOND EASY E. Variation of a moving tiles puzzle. Move rings to produce a picture of horses. F. Variation of a mathematical puzzle. Place obstacles on a race track to regulate the varying speed of race horses to that they arrive together at the finish line. Place items along the path which slow down the speed of the horses. MODERATELY DIFFICULT AFTER THE DEMO: G. Variation of a maze puzzle. Move colored arrows to boxes of the same color using white arrows to move the colored ones. MODERATELY DIFFICULT TO DIFFICULT H. Variation of a matching puzzle. On a town diagram, place buildings into their correct locations. EASY I. Locate the difference for symbols on wine barrels. EASY J. Variation of sliding tiles puzzle. Move picture tiles to the correct locations to create a photo. EASY K. Variation of a maze puzzle. Using a ?homemade? stethoscope, (so funny) move an arrow to each of four points on a maze. MODERATELY DIFFICULT October 10, 2015
Off The Chain! Based on the Main and Bonus Games Okay, my turn to get all gushy. Originality, creativity, design, and graphics are all off the chain in this send up of this Eipix series. How should I know why they're discontinuing it? Nobody tells me nuthin'. They went to great lengths to keep you busy in this game, with lots of puzzles, so many puzzles. And they get progressively harder as the game continues. There's a good variety in HOs too--that's where all the morphs are. Now, collectibles. Oh, lordy. Forty-three teapots = 43 scenes to romp through, main and bonus. Letters to find, and squint hard, because they're well hidden. They spell out Final Interview on your menu page. Plus elegant hats--6 open up bonus puzzle/HOs, so pay attention. Hunting for everything will slow you down, because Eipix sneakily tucked everything in the shrubbery, behind curtains, in cubbards, etc. I like it. Now, the story is good--who doesn't like a mystery about the Derby? The main game is about 4+ hrs long, and the bonus about 1+ hours. The latter extends the mystery with a cool twist. CE bling includes the legendary Souvenir Room (a mini-collectable hunt), achievements, replayable HOs & puzzles (plus bonus), collectibles you can go back and look for if you missed (teapots), and you can also replay HOs to retrieve missed morphs. Plus the usual. What's not to like? Strategy guide is awesomeness. (Hello, Anita!) Is it worth a CE? Let's put it this way. If you don't get the CE, just fall on your sword now. Hey, did you know Eipix is doing Mystery Case Files this year? Winning! October 11, 2015
The woman is innocent I tell ya! This game is off the hook! This to me is one of this team's masterpieces. I call this game "Once in a blue moon game" because my hubby as a rule hardly ever watches me play a game, but this one he did. The intro to the game was awesome, and the VO's couldn't of been better. There wasn't no gizmo in the beta version I played, but Missy goes into flashbacks because of her amnesia. And when that happens you have to look for the green swirls and when you find them you have to click when that happens then white circles come up and it will tell you what happened in the past. Note to the devs on the collectibles. You're one of my fave teams, but it is going a little overboard on the collectibles. The Collectibles are: 44 teapots, 17 letters, 6 hats, and 28 morphs. The morphs are in hidden object scenes only. Please check your guide because 12 of those morphs are in one hidden object scene alone, and it shows where all are. Story: Your driving down the road minding your own business, when you apply the brakes and you have none. You run into the guardrails and off of the side of a cliff. You want to gather your things before your car goes over. You get this little bag out of your car and find a horse statue and somehow remember you having an interview with Carl Reedley but amnesia kicks in. You finally make it up the cliff only to be greeted by a very rude cop and treats you like a suspect. Poor Miss Dunn's head is reeling and wondering why she is being treated that way. Off to the station she goes to speak to the captain. The captain tells her that Carl's in the hospital and that Miss Dunn had something to do with it, and that her amnesia just happened to all of a sudden come on. Well she does get a chance to prove her innocence in the mean time. The rude cop tells her that the Reedleys are like family to him and that if something happens to Carl, she['ll be put away for a long time. Well Missy goes to the estate and finally sees Sarah (Carl's daughter), and accuses Missy of trying to murder her father. The rude cop just happens to be there and the on the story goes. Graphics: Awesome graphics. Crisp and clear all the way through. Really the type to stop and look at before continuing the game. Music: Very well done. Really adds to the atmosphere of the game.\ Mini Games: The first was match the symbols to climp the rope, put symbols together to make the whole symbol, get your playing piece around the track where the gears open and close passageways, just a nice assortment of minis. H0GS: Morphs are in the H0GS. It's another nice array of H0GS which I really enjoyed playing. Map: Jump map which has the symbol to tell you what to do next and where to go. This team did a stand up job on this game. Kudos to them. I highly recommend this game. October 10, 2015

AND THEY'RE OFF... THE RECORD! EIPIX WINS BY A NOSE! Ah! Devonshire Horse Races! Who doesn't love horses and especially horse racing? As a staunch pure adventure player, Eipix has won me over especially with this newest release "The Final Interview". We play Ms. Dunn, who held an interview with a world famous horse breeder. He's suddenly admitted to a hospital while simultaneously, Ms. Dunn suffers amnesia. Hmmm! A mystery is afoot! Not all that keen with amnesia cases, however, going where these brilliant devs are taking me. Clear, crisp, accurate gaming quality. Lovely sound, computer graphics, cut scenes, voice overs and always ever creative, unique puzzles. Morphing objects, collectibles, bonus game, wallpapers, HO's, puzzles, etc. are all waiting. Prefer purchasing the Eipix Collectors' Editions for their generous game play additions! I really don't want to miss a thing! Highly recommend and an immediate purchase for this gamer! Enjoy! -Mama Mia- October 10, 2015
Off the Record: The Final Interview Collector's Edition Another great game in the series October 11, 2015
Like a shot fired at the start of a race Off The Record goes out with a BANG! Wow! This conclusion to the epic Eipix series Off The Record deserves a thundering round of applause. The Final Interview proves to be the greatest scam in the history of Horse Racing. You play the role of Investigator Mrs. Dunn who suffers from amnesia but must restore your memory in order to help the Reedley family. When you learn that a kidnapping has taken place the race against the clock begins and the plot thickens. Find out how Calvin Reedley really acquired his wealth and why he divorced the mother of his only child Sarah. Who's been trying to poison Mr. Reedley and why? You encounter a host of eccentric characters all potential suspects. Someone's going to pay for all this...and it's up to you to discover who... This series has had an incredible run and I highly recommend all the installments. Eipix and Big Fish will continue 'Creating Worlds' as the saying goes, I look forward to their next endeavor with anticipation! October 11, 2015
