Can't help: I am romantic :-) I already wanted to buy this game when it came out as a CE, because i loved the romantic scenery and the beautful graphics (and also the sound after you accomplished a minigame), but unfortunately it then did not work on my computer, i couldn't see and use the hint or menue-button. But by a miracle i do not understand, the SE works perfectly for me and makes me happy. I love the story although it is like in a fairy-tale and we heard it perhaps more than once, a fairy-tale is also well-known and not boring at all. I like the way the magican is designed, his face is gorgeous, i normally am not fond of switching persons in a game, but here it works smoothly and logically. And i do love this idea that the female character is turned into a swan - this rings bells with fairy-tales of course. I just wished this game had worked on my computer when i first downloaded it, then i would have bought the CE. November 15, 2015
Romantic 2 character game I enjoy Hidden object scenes, even though alot of reviewers don't.. i don't know why they even play HO games at all.. they could play the adventure games.. i clap every time another hidden object scene pops up.. i also like this game because finding feathers enables you to create another scene.. it had a map with objectives which i always appreciate November 16, 2015
A visually GORGEOUS game... BASED ON THE DEMO ONLY I am usually one that prefers the creepier paranormal type games but for a change, This game is a real beauty. It is designed (as others have stated) for the younger set, but it is so beautiful and easily flowing that adults will probably love it too. IF YOU LIKED THIS GAME..... TRY THESE..... 1. Detective Quest- The crystal slipper -by Elephant gms 2012. 2. Awakening: Moonfell Wood-by Boomzap 2011 3. Unfinished Tales: Illicit Love by Elephant 10-2012 4. and of course the other 2 in the Dark Romance series by Domini Note: These games are somewhat older, but the feel of the game is the same as this and all of them are TRULY GORGEOUS! There are bright blue skies, flower gardens and flowering trees galore and adorable animals in every scene. The portal task map is a work of art all by itself....and if you want to re-watch those cutscenes this is where they can be replayed. Characters notes are also in the maps area. COLLECT- statues, stained glass pieces and feathers. Each has its own page, and the feathers are used to buy things for a bedroom you can "dress up". Kids will love this feature. I would rather have had a screensaver to save to my computer as a reminder of how beautiful the game is and to buy the next segment out of the game. In one spot the baddy in the game creates a wall of water which covers the scene and fills your monitor which makes your monitor look like an aquarium because of the adorable goldfish that floats through! Such innovation and perfectly executed. One of the minigames is 3 separate scenes where you match adorable animals. I loved it. This game is like playing in a happy little painting, and the time spent playing it just leaves you in a good mood, like seeing a great movie. Well done! Thank you Domini, and BFG!!! April 27, 2016
i really liked this game there is a custom level and an interactive map. you are trying help the prince and his fiancee to get married but he has been captured by rothbart and she is trying to find her grandmother who has been captured by alana. alana can transform into other people and her father is the one holding the prince. you play between the prince and the fiancee depending on the situation. sequel.....yeah, i figure December 22, 2015
WHAT A DADDY WILL DO TO ENSURE HIS DAUGHTER IS A REAL PRINCESS Dark Romance the Swan Sonata is a love story with a twist. It is the tale of Siegfried and Odette and of course there is an evil magician and his equally evil daughter in the mix. The magician with his attitude is hilarious even though he is an evil character. As in the previous Dark Romance game you switch roles playing the game sometimes as Odette and at others playing the game as Siegried. The path to true love is riddled with challenges along the way as Rothbart attempts to keep you away from your prince. The game has four modes of gameplay to choose from: Casual, Advanced, Hardcore, and Custom. In the custom mode the hints and skips can be set to recharge in a range of 15 to 90 seconds. The graphics are beautiful consisting of excellent hand-drawn artwork and some computer generated graphics that uses a wonderful intense and rich color palette. Not only are the graphics colorful, they are very crisp and clear. I must admit that I really enjoyed clicking different items in each scene since they are not stagnant and many responded various ways when clicked. At times the game seems to use live characters and at others they are artist created. The sound package includes lip-synced voiceovers that are generally very good. Our tools include an interactive map and a journal that keeps track of notes. At least during the demo I didn?t need to use any magical tools or other gimmicks. The HOPs are varied and the first one is a FROG type scene where we find various parts of our broken carriage. If you don?t want to find the various items in the HOPs you do have the option of a match 3 game, but I found the HOPS interesting and entertaining so chose to find the items. The mini puzzles are not too difficult but I did struggle with the first lock puzzle. The CE version of the game includes various collectibles to find, achievements to earn along with all of the other standard extras we usually expect to find The CE package is just so-so, but with a decent sale it might be worth it just to have the in game strategy guide. Although the package is beautiful and the game does have some interesting features, we once again are dealing with an evil magician who is bent on wreaking havoc. As far as this type of game goes, Dark Romance the Swan Sonata is excellent but in many ways seems geared towards teen girls. I know that many gamers like these types of games but I am not sure it will appeal to a broader crowd so, although I like the game I recommend that you try the demo to see if you will enjoy it as well. Good game.!!! When it was a CE played the trial for a time just did not buy. It did not hold my interest at all. I had a free game and used it on this one. Glad I did lots of puzzles and hidden objects I love. It a game worth giving a chance. Really worth a free game if you have one. November 15, 2015
The Sweet Odette is in Love with the Prince! Ah Romance. Based on the Beta, CE and SE Demos. Prince Sigfried would wander through his Palace Garden. One day, he met the lovely Odette. He gave her a red rose and asked for her hand in marriage. Everyone rejoiced! Until ......................... The music was very 'soft and lilting' ..... actually made me sleepy after a while. Graphics were old school fantasy. Sound fx well done. Special fx were fantastic! Click on everything is my best advice - lol - I made flowers bloom jusy clicking on a bush! Casual/Advanced/Hardcore/Custom Difficulties. HOGs were varied ....... from interactive silhouettes to FRAGS and more ..... there is an alternate Match 3 game if you prefer. I enjoyed the M3 myself! lol Mini Games were quite fun and almost all new and fresh. You have an interactive map, a task list and the ability to change into your alter-ego (just kidding!). You do have the ability to change characters ..... from the dashing Prince to the sweet Odette and back again. The CE version appeared to be CE worthy with lots to find and do and after playing the Beta I was absolutely sure this would be a purchase for me ..... CE or SE. After playing this demo, though, my feelings towards this game were much more ...... bleh. The storyline was true romance at its best. A cast of interesting characters, fun games and the ability to switch characters. Find me preparing for my character's wedding ..... but when you find me ........... WHICH character will I be????? ENJOY! November 15, 2015
Beautiful, fun and relaxing game! I thoroughly enjoyed this lovely romantic hidden object game. It was beautifully illustrated, the games were fun and relatively easy, which is something I enjoy when I just want to relax. The scenery was gorgeous without being overly fantasy looking, everything looked normal but very pretty which is something I really like. I hate when things are ugly, broken down covered with bugs or really golden, or overwhelmingly pink and purple. Gorgeous reality is number one with me! I really enjoyed playing both the young lady and the young mans parts. I was so lovely and handsome lol The game flowed in a nice logical manner, which is very important to me. The skip button recharges lightning fast which is also fantastic. I will definitely play this game over again which is something a very rarely do. I highly recommend this to the ladies, gentleman you may want to demo it first. January 5, 2016
Good Game, Story! I enjoyed it. Nice little love story. Good puzzles, not all same; different ones. Story line a little different. Seemed a little long; lots to do! Graphics, map very good; not too much info. First Dark Romance; getting ready to play another; will see if it is any better. ENJOY! September 16, 2016
Such A Letdown! Prince Siegfried has fallen in love with Odette, a common garden servant, but the court Magician Rothbart has other plans for the Prince. Rothbart has cooked up a special magical potion for the Prince as he tries to trick Siegfried into marrying his own daughter, but Odette is strong, and she will fight the villainous magician, tooth and nail to keep her man. All this sound familiar? That's because it's the same story told over and over again, almost word for word. I loved the original Dark Romance, a clever tale portrayed by both the Vampire and the mortal woman who stole his heart. The second game was still good, but the storyline was not as interesting, this game however, is just pitiful. Most of the tasks are ridiculous, first I have to grow a magical nut in split seconds to give to a talking owl which speaks in third person. The talking owl gives me the key to Granny's chest which contains her secret revitalizing potion, (not to be confused with the several bottles of poison she has on a shelf) The next thing I have to do is hop on good ole Pearl and begin my pursuit, but rut row, the magician has a few things in store for us. Instead of a single path, there's now three. Instead of traveling the familiar path to the castle, I have to look behind haystacks and underneath tree stumps to find matching pairs of squirrels. Once the matching squirrels have been matched, the last one for some strange reason jumps into a cage! Where did the cage come from in the first place? Why would the unmatched squirrel jump into the cage? After detangling the ropes that bind the cage, the squirrel senses freedom and runs, this direction surely is the correct path to the castle right? Just to be sure, I repeat the process with ducks, and once more with fuzzy bunnies adorned with colorful ribbons! I actually purchased the Collector's Edition, thinking it would improve, after all the first two versions were really entertaining. It doesn't improve, well to be fair, I didn't even finish the game. There are several "extras" available in the Collector's Edition, the usual Achievements to earn, Dossier notes to discover, Collectible Character Figurines, Stained Glass pieces and Collectible Feathers. The Feathers are used like coins that will allow you purchase items for the honeymoon Boudoir, such as flowers, harps, rocking chairs and other decorations. In my opinion this feature is lame, the items to purchase are boring, and it's a feature I believe few gamers ever get excited about. The Hidden Object Scenes are mostly Silhouetted Shape finds of different types. Some are progressive interactive finds where you find the first item and use that item in the scene interactively to expose the next item. Some require you to find several items matching the silhouettes to "fill them up" and there are also multiples of one item, and typical listed item finds and fragmented finds where you find several pieces of items scattered about the scene. You can play a Match 3 game instead of the Hidden Object Puzzles. The Mini games range from simple to frustrating, below is a list of some of the games you'll encounter so skip the numbered section if you don't want to know what's in store for you: 1) A Lock and Key puzzle where you figure out the correct sequences. 2) A three part game where you first uncover objects to match identical animals, then free a caged animal by untangling ropes and following the freed animals path. 3) Position pictures correctly by looking at fragmented clues. 4) Swap heads to the correct body. 5) Pop bubbles that contain skulls. 6) Move tokens to the correct matching slots according to a pattern. 7) Swap pie shaped pieces to create an image. The Collector's Edition has 20 Stained Glass pieces to collect, 5 Music Soundtracks, 15 Concept Art pictures, 13 Wallpapers, 19 Free Search HOP's, 23 replayable Mini Games, 15 Achievements, 15 Collectible Character Figurines, Collectible Feather's, a Boudoir to decorate, a built in Strategy Guide and a Bonus Chapter.
