Mahjong Museum Mystery Another great Mahjong game to play March 8, 2016
Could Have Been Great But.... This Mahjong game could have been really fun, but just about every game required me to use Power-ups that cost 500 coins every time. To make matters worse, once you use a costly power-up, you can't use that type again on that level. The power-ups consist of: Shuffle, which shuffles the remaining tiles, a Random Remove feature that removes a random tile, Explode which also removes a tile but of your choosing, and a Swap feature which swaps a tile with another. There has been a robbery at the Museum so you must find clues which are basically puzzle pieces you receive after each game, that will form a recovered item (12 items total) in the form of a trophy. Each themed game has two exhibits each exhibit has 15 levels, Egypt, India, China, Mayan, Roman, and the Royal Palace for a total of 180 games. Each regular Mahjong tile matched, earns you 10 coins, each gold tile matched earns you 50 coins, and you can earn up to three gold stars for each game. You can replay the levels as often as you want to try to earn a better score, enjoy! March 7, 2016
Clear Clear Tiles! I played 45 minutes of the trial session and completed stage 1, getting all of an Egyptian artifact. This one isn't a purchase for me. I did love the clarity of the tiles and smoothness of the mahjong play, I didn't need reading glasses to differentiate the pictures. There were 4 power ups and they were easy to use - though they cost 500 coins a go. All were one use only, so if there were no matches, you had to use them one by one to get through the level. That included a shuffle. Often using a shuffle first was enough to get through a level. This ended up feeling too easy. A piece of 'artifact' was awarded at the end of each mahjong hand. Once I had the whole Egyptian piece, that was it, investigation over. I felt disappointed that this was the 'detective investigation'. It was level one, and would have been easy, but it was too easy for me. I'd have felt like I was going through the motions. The graphics of the tiles were the best quality, there wasn't any visual eye candy around the rest of the game. I didn't listen to the music, purely as I had one eye on the TV. Nicely made, but not for me - happy to do a matching game, but I've recently bought Solitare Club - the level of challenge and visual polish keep me hooked into the game. March 8, 2016
"Bored" Game A VERY basic mahjong game where you are in a museum & travel through various exhibits. Each exhibit has 15 levels of play before you move on to the next exhibit. No voiceovers just some reading now & again. Cartoonish graphics with bright colors. You cannot mute the sound or music, just turn it off. Didn't care for the music & the sound it made when you removed a gold tile got annoying very quickly. You are told when there are no more matches available & can use the power up button. It was quite helpful & I won every level without having to play anyone more than once. As I said the game is basic/entry level & I would only recommend it to someone who is just learning as it can become tedious & boring quickly. March 7, 2016
No Challenge whatsoever Cute, but there was absolutely no challenge. If you run out of matches, there is always a way to fix it. Also, very few matches are required to finish any level. Boring.... March 8, 2016
Could have been good but... As mentioned by another reviewer, you can not play this game with out swapping the tiles around at least once during the game. There must be something wrong with the way they create the layouts. I find this very frustrating. I want to play and not have to keep using powerup's to finish. Note that the levels I played only had one pair of each tile so it wasn't as if i chose the wrong one to pair. It lost another star because at the end you match gold tiles and this generates a spinning star for you. You can not play while the star is spinning. Again, I just want to play and to have to wait for this spinning star is frustrating. March 8, 2016
Lackluster Mahjong Game It's really difficult to make mahjjong games interesting, so I thought perhaps Museum Mystery would offer something new. But alas, it doesn't. I'm not sure why these types of games can't be made with 3D, realistic looking backgrounds and tiles. I'm just so tired of cartoon-like graphics which is probably why I tend to play mostly hidden object games. The story line here is minimal and really doesn't add anything to game play. You can choose your poorly drawn tile sets which is nothing new. There are gold stars to achieve and a few powerups. The sound of clinking tiles became annoying really fast so I played with no sound, which made the game even more boring. If this is truly a newly developed game, it's a big step backward for mahjong fans. I suggest you pass on Museum Mystery and try Mahjong Quest or others that have been out for years. March 7, 2016
Boring I found this one boring, nothing exciting about it. I have played other mahjong games that were pretty good but this one was not, maybe someone just starting to play this kind of game might enjoy it. March 7, 2016
