Penny Arcade Expo, arguably the most important video game convention in the world, expanded from North America to Australia in 2013. Thousands of attendees flock to the convention for tournaments, game-play, concerts, exhibits by top gaming companies, and cosplay. PAX AUS also has an Australian Indie Showcase that brings the best of the Aussie and New Zealand Indie video game scene to the public. PAX AUS is the place to be for international video game conventions.

Best known for the celebrity guests it attracts, Supanova is a celebration of all things in geek pop culture. That includes sci-fi and fantasy film, comic books, video games, TV, and Collectibles. The expo travels through Australia to locations in Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth, Adelaide, and the Gold Coast. It boasts an exhibition center, panels, a cosplay competition, and an artists’ display area. Celebrity guests in 2015 include Christopher Lloyd, George Takei, Nathan Fillion, and James Marsters.

This gaming and comic convention has been around for quite some time. It was launched in 1966 as Salone Internazionale del Comics. Now the festival is attended by over 200K visitors. It has exhibits, cosplay, a Japan town, music events and more. It spans much of the city center of Lucca with an elaborate maze of tents, outdoor stages and local buildings.

In 2014 Paris Games Week was ranked as the 2nd most attended video game expo in the world (After Gamescom in Germany). 272,000 visitors showed up for the 50,000 square foot exhibition and the Electronic Sports World Cup. Paris Games week also has a family friendly area with 1,200 m2 dedicated to the kiddos. Team members are available to educate parents on the role of video games in the lives of their kids.

Gamescom is the largest gaming event in the world. Roughly 335,000 visitors, 6,000 journalists and 700 exhibitors attended in 2014 (its sixth year). The fair includes a large exhibition area, a cosplay village, music and onstage entertainment, and interactive shows and discussions.

Eurogamer Expo is the UKs biggest games event. It includes game exhibits on AAA titles, an extensive indie game collection, and a vast display on retro games and the history of gaming. There’s also an industry fair that allows visitors the chance to speak directly to recruiters and participate in career workshops. There’s also competitive gaming, cosplay, and developer sessions to be enjoyed at the convention.

IgroMir is the first international exhibition for fans of pop culture. In 2014 ~157,000 people visited this exhibition organized by the Russian Game Developers Conference. There were over 400 officially registered cosplayers, 90 booths, and 200 companies represented. Misha Collins (Supernatural) was a celebrity star.

Hosted in Sao Paulo, one of the world’s great cities, the Brazil Game Show is the largest video games event in Latin America. Over 250k visitors attended in 2014. There are exhibits, tournaments, and panels. The event is also attended by several Brazilian celebrities and boasts exhibits by 180 gaming companies.

10,000 Minecraft fans are expected to flock to London, EN in early July to celebrate their beloved game. The con includes contests, tournaments, panels, events, and some kind of big show that’s yet to be announced. In 2014 MineCon was expected to happen in Europe, but the con was never officially scheduled. Fans were super excited to discover that the popular convention was back on in 2015.
