Recent studies show that action games enhance learning, focus, decision-making, and multi-tasking.
Researchers at Indiana University tested participants with a number of tasks involving vision and perception. Each series of tests was followed by 50 hours of gameplay. Half the participants played action games like Call of Duty, while the other half played more mellow games such as The Sims. Once players completed game-play there were follow-up tests. Those participants who played the action games scored significantly higher in the second round of testing.
