Summary and Mission

SkyRocket Studios is seeking a Sr. Software Engineer to join our Tools and Engine team. You will be an integral part of the team, informing and advising our award-winning game teams by providing your backend perspective and implementing creative solutions to complex problems. In this role you will have the ability to shape how servers are developed and used within all of SkyRocket Studios.  You must have a keen technical mind, a passion for system design and architecture, and have forward thinking approach. In this position you will have a large impact on our technical capabilities, working with a small but growing team of enthusiastic and motivated developers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, and deploy infrastructure with emphasis on uptime and scalability
  • Profile and tune highly-scalable backends
  • Develop APIs for both internal and external development teams to consume
  • Support, mentor and help develop server expertise in other engineers within SkyRocket Studios

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent
  • 7+ years professional experience in software development
  • Proficiency in developing objected-oriented software, with deep experience in one or more relevant languages (Java, C++, or C#)
  • Experience with the entire development life-cycle from gathering requirements to launching
  • Fluent with Linux / command line
  • Basic knowledge of networking, DNS, protocols
  • Database design and SQL/NoSQL knowledge
  • Experience scaling infrastructure
  • Experience maintaining live ops applications
  • Experience developing backend systems
  • Experience estimating effort and establishing timelines for projects as well as communicating associated risk


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with web development
  • Full stack engineer able to create client-side APIs
  • Experience in Unity
