We are looking for a highly motivated, experienced, visionary to define and execute Big Fish’s advanced analytics strategy.  As the VP, Data Science and Insights, you are a proven leader with exceptional expertise in data modeling, management, advanced analytics, business intelligence, machine learning and predictive modeling.  


  • Leverage data driven insights to optimize game development, customer acquisition, and marketing initiatives in support of near term performance goals and long-term strategic initiatives
  • Provide analysis to inform strategic direction on business issues and opportunities
  • Create and execute analytic solutions to improve and optimize business performance and minimize risk
  • Collaborate with other business leaders to drive decisions based on data, facts and analytical findings
  • Develop highly functional teams through coaching, goal setting, and a commitment to employee growth and development

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Able to define the correct data, analysis and interpretation to influence complex game design and marketing initiatives
  • Capable of guiding and inspiring your team and your colleagues to drive the best possible practices
  • Proven technical ability with a variety of tools including SQL, Python and R. Commanding knowledge of statistics and or machine learning techniques.  Applications in the game industry a plus. 
  • Knowledge of advanced statistical techniques suitable for analysis of highly skewed populations
  • Proven experience in predictive analytics, segmentation, experimental design and related areas
  • Ability to communicate complex statistical analysis in plain English and help your team develop clear and unambiguous visual reporting systems
  • Experience designing, deploying and maintaining on premise and cloud based big data technology stacks.  Netezza, Amazon Redshift, and Google BiqQuery experience preferred
  • Experience with traditional Business Intelligence relational database modeling, tools and processes
  • Familiarity with the design and implementation of data telemetry systems

Required Experience:

  • Experience leading a strategic department where failure to achieve business results will have serious, long-term impacts to the business, and may place the overall long-term success of the organization at risk
  • 12 or more years of experience in data science, data engineering, and business intelligence 
  • 8 or more years of experience leading cross-functional data analytics teams across an organization
  • Experience in and understanding of a wide variety of analytical processes (governance, measurement, etc.)
  • Experience working within an agile software development environment
  • Up-to-date on key Data Science and Business Intelligence trends and strategies 
  • Proven ability to establish and articulate a vision, set goals, develop and execute strategies, and track and measure results 
  • Experience managing cross-department Data Science projects and teams
  • Master’s degree in statistics, mathematics, computer science or related fields.  Ph.D. preferred.
