Summary and Mission

We're looking for an entry level Linux Systems Administrator who enjoys solving problems and building new things using a combination of creativity and technical rigor. You don't have to know everything (that's why you're on a team), but we do expect good judgement and a desire to learn. If you can help us out, get in touch!

Key Responsibilities

  • Help manage a Linux-based e-commerce environment with over 2000 servers
  • Engage in hardware and software lifecycle management tasks
  • Monitor system performance and plan for future scaling
  • Participate in an on-call rotation


Qualifications

  • 2+ years of IT experience
  • 1 year of UNIX/Linux system administration experience
  • Customer-focused mindset
  • Good communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to balance competing priorities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting highly available, customer-facing services in a 100+ server environment
  • Experience with Apache, Memcache, Tomcat, and other open source server software
  • Operational familiarity with configuration management systems such as CFEngine and Salt
  • Experience with server virtualization (Xen preferred)
  • Understanding of TCP/IP networking fundamentals
  • Experience configuring hardware load balancers (F5 preferred)
