Danse Macabre: Deadly Deception is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 18.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Case Of Mistaken Identity No one knew Marion Ashworth better than her own parents, however, the students and faculty of the prestigious Belfort Academy of Dance, knew her as entirely different person. News of Marion's death came as quite a shock to her wealthy parents, and an ever bigger shock when they discovered that the victim wasn't their Marion. This imposter was so cunning, she was able to fool Ms. Compton, the headmistress, not to mention her classmates, this Marion was the only Marion they knew existed! Who exactly is the murder victim, and what happened to the real Marion? Did the murderer intend to murder the real Marion or the imposter Marion, and why? This is a fantastic Whodunit/Whoisit investigative adventure with Madame White, hot on the trail of some mind bending and deceitful evidence. Your Evidence Board is located on the bottom right of the screen, which holds all the information, clues and bios you collect during your investigation. Some of the inventory items have plus signs indicating that further action is required before that item can be used, such as fixing broken items or combining it with another inventory item. The Hidden Object Scenes are mostly interactive list finds, but there are unusual scenes as well, such as searching the murder victim for signs of a struggle, or finding a specific number of personal items. You can opt to play a Match 3 game in place of the HOP, which requires you to make matches of Codminions in place of the listed item search. The Mini Games are good, but I was surprised to find most of them just revamped puzzles, matching two related items, or using arrows to rotate several fabric buttons on a diamond shaped grid until the buttons were in their matching colored holes. The Collectors Edition has 41 hidden Collectible Masks, Achievements, that allow you to receive Gold, Silver, or Bronze categories within those thirteen achievements. There are 10 Morphing Objects, but they are only available within the Hidden Object Scenes. To help you remember, there is an icon that will flash until you find the changing or morphing object. The Collectors Edition also has Souvenirs, replayable Mini Games and HOP's as well as Bonus HOP's once the Bonus Chapter has been completed, the Making of, Pictures which has both Wallpapers and Sessions, Movies, Match 3 games, Music, and a built in Strategy Guide, enjoy!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Marion, Who Are You? As Madame White, you're on the case again to solve a Danse Macabre case. This one is tricky, with the identity of the dead girl herself at stake. Marion, it turns out, is not Marion - and you have to find out why. And where. And who! I love mystery HOA's, so this game was right up my alley. The atmospheric graphics were great, with stunning settings and realistic characters. It's set back in time, probably during the 40's - always a fun era. I also enjoyed the HOS with interactive sections. There were a few of find 6 of the same item, which I love. The puzzles were fine, although several involved 'turn the disc that will turn other discs.' They drive me a bit crazy, but that's just me. There was a lot of character interaction as well, although I felt it was just right. Obviously, as a detective, you'll need to interrogate the witnesses, and the story progresses logically as you do. This wasn't my favorite - I'm all about the Cadenza in Havana - but Deadly Deception is a well-designed game that will pass several hours of your time.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I am definitely hooked on Danse Macabre! This was my first time playing one of the Danse Macabre games and it will not be my last. The graphics were spectacular and the music went along with the story nicely. I really liked all of the HOS and the mini games. They were complicated enough to be a challenge, but not too much to be running to the strategy guide. It was a little slow starting, but it sped up quickly.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from "What could be needed here?" I know there is a CE from this game as well, so i am not going to retell the storyline. It is a kind of detective novel, which keeps you busy as you are trying to find out the truth about the death of a yound woman. Great graphics, music suits the case (as it has to do with music and dance), hintbutton and skip can be customized, which i really like. What i don't like at all is when you point at something to get to know more about what to do here the only answer is "what could be needed here" or - alternatively - "think, think, think" - this diminishes the pleasure of playing so much and gets such annoying after a while that i almost wanted to uninstall the game again. These texts are definitively not helpful, dear developers, if you want us to play your game!!!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Eipix, I'm Disappointed! I've played all the Danse Macabre games except one (will start that one next) and all of them before this one were nice, lengthy games. I think I finished this in half the time and that was playing in the most difficult mode. Also, there are very few puzzles and they're too easy. Come on, Eipix. I know you can do much better! I'm still recommending it because what there was of it was fun.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Loved it, but way too short I own most of Eipix games. I love all of them. This one has a good detective story and as usual graphics and game play are lovely and very interesting. I usually play a game within 4 or 6 hours. I like to look and explore everything. This one... I played slightly under 2 hours. In my book, not acceptable for a game, even if you are playing the casual mode. I was very disappointed. So great game, just too short. I am still recommending it, but do take your time and try a harder mode to make it last longer!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Stopped caring half way through This had elements of good gameplay, but lost it a bit with all the HOPs - many of them, although there was variety in their execution. What annoyed me was various stupid use of connecting the dots - looking in wind chimes for a faucet - really? Just became silly part way and I stopped caring. Sorry, not high on my rating but visually strong.
