Haunted Hotel: The X is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 27.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from The nanny in this game is no Mary Poppins I got this game as weekly catch. And what a catch I got! It kept me engaged for a couple of hours. The story line, puzzles/mini games and HO scenes, all the creepy details, voices, graphics, music, atmosphere. Loved it all. I even got scared once or twice, just a little bit. If you’d like you can add to the creepy atmosphere and effects by playing with (most) lights off, when it's already dark outside. Just make sure you can stomach that. There is NO shame if you can’t: I get more easily scared nowadays then when I was younger but sometimes I still favor to set a scary mood when playing such games. This game challenged me plenty. Overall I thought the HO scenes and mini games where not that difficult but some games where more time consuming and challenging, which I appreciate. With just enough HO scenes. I like puzzles/mini games more than HO scenes so when there are too much HO scenes I easily get bored and frustrated. Not with this game. The HO scenes are also varied: not only finding items from a list but for example also finding pairs and silhouettes. I got stuck a couple of times figuring out which inventory item goes where but I didn't use the hint or skip button. One time, near the end, I thought I encountered a bug when the mouse turned into a grabbing hand but I couldn’t do anything with that rock. So I clicked, pressed and interacted with anything I could interact with till I got it right. Luckily it was NO bug. Pressing and trying to interact with anything is a great strategy – or better put: it is a strategy ;) - when you got stuck. Eventually something will work. Even when you don’t get this game on sale, I think you get your money’s worth. Since BF has plenty of discount sales, you might as well wait till one comes along. That is, when you’re interested in this game. But be aware, levitating is the only thing this nanny has in common with Mary Poppins.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from VERY GOOD!! First off: If you do not like looking at BLOOD, stay away from this one!! This was good, everything "bloody" good!! LOTS, LOTS to do; it went on and on! This one makes for a very interesting, challenging story; perfect for holding and keeping your interest. Puzzles and HOs are challenging enough to keep you playing! (I love good puzzles!) Graphics, maps, voices, all good. Good information; writing stays on page so that it can be read! I am a Haunted Hotel fan!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love the the little "gotcha" moments! This a beautifully designed game. The graphics and music are great and I love the long playing time. I will be playing more of these.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice Game with a Good Length I just finished the whole game and I really enjoyed playing all of it except the last few scenes where it is all about exorcism. I skipped through those pretty quickly. So the 5 stars are for the game up until then. Graphics were very nice. Level of Challenge was perfect for me. I played on the Advanced Level for the first time ever and I only used the hint button a few times to figure out what I missed. I enjoyed playing the mini-games. They were fun. The HOS were not very plentiful and when they did show up they were fun. Overall a pleasant way to spend a few hours.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Game! The storyline was fun and kept my attention. The game was creepy with a couple jump scares that successfully startled me. The graphics were bloody and dark but expected given the game story and theme. The puzzles were mostly simple and not very challenging. I did have the in-game help phrases turned on because it wasn't always clear what needed to be done with the objects in each scene (need a button for this, need a rope for that, need to break the glass, etc). Overall, the game kept me entertained for a few hours. This is the second Haunted Hotel game I've played and I'm going to try the others to see if they're just as good.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from WOW. Scarier than what I usually go for but I'm in love! Holy buckets, this game was INCREDIBLY good. I'm a little bummed now that I didn't decide to go for the CE, but it was one of those "pick it up with your free coupon" games and since it's not my normal genre I didn't splurge. First of all--I like to know the scare factor before I'm going into a game like this, and if you're leery of trying it I'll say that I don't think it was that bad, especially (ironically) towards the second half of the game. There are some KILLER (haha) visuals at the start--reflections in mirrors, creepy shadows, bouncing balls that aren't really there, the whole nine yards. But as soon as you make and help your first ally (a little over midway through the game), I think the entire game becomes less scary/suspenseful--there are still some good visuals, but they're mostly static (still a couple moving spider scares, but tbh they looked so fake that I wasn't afraid at all). I think some more hardcore 'scare factor' gamers might find that disappointing, but I thought it was well-paced and fit in with the storyline as a whole. Other than that, I'm quite honestly speechless. Puzzles didn't feel too hard or too easy and were worth playing for the most part. The story wasn't crazy-new or inventive, but it was executed tremendously. If you like the Mystery Trackers series, I think you'll like this game a lot. The video-cassette addition was very reminiscent of MT style, and the plot and pacing felt very MT but without the magicky-sciencey plot devices that MT hinges upon. Apparently this is a game in a series, and I'm definitely going to keep an open mind about the next one if the developers put as much love and care into crafting it as they did this one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Another great Haunted Hotel Totally enjoyed this version of Haunted Hotel. The animations, sounds and graphics were simply amazing in this one. Enough to keep you on the edge of your seat. Smooth gameplay with challenging puzzles and HOS for those who love those parts of the game. Interesting "angry ghost" story but may be uncomfortable for those who are sensitive to the occult and/or spiders in some cases. I certainly give this a 5 out of 5 and highly recommend. Custom setting lets you set the hint and skip to refresh quickly so the game moves along well. Transporter map is excellent. Highly recommend and you certainly get your money's worth. Not sure if I would recommend playing this while alone in a dark house on a stormy night though. :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great game! Beware to those that dislike rituals though. For me, this is one of the best spooky, jump out of my skin kind of fun games since "Fright". It's also a big improvement over the two previous "Haunted Hotel" games so thanks for listening developers! If you want a longer preview, go to YouTube and search for Haunted Hotel: X gameplay. I like Brain Games best because they don't talk.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from What is the Legend of the Lexington Hotel???? Based on the Beta, SE and CE Demos. Once again, a great storyline. Your friend has gone missing in the Lexington Hotel while investigating the Hotel's Legend. wooooooooo. Graphics were absolutely amazing! Ghosts popping out at you, pictures that aren't just pictures. LOVED it! Voice overs, music and sound fx were great as well. Casual, Advanced, Hardcore and Custom difficulties. HOGs were mainly list type with a silhouette thrown in for good measure - lol. Not tremendously interactive and no alternate game. Mini Games were quite fun. Interactive map and a camera that plays back cassettes for you. This is a great standalone game (don't have to own/played the previous 9 games), great for beginners through experts, great storyline that flowed very well. Perfect if it would have come out for Halloween instead of the Holidays. Just sayin'. If for whatever reason you don't opt for the CE, the SE won't disappoint. Join me in finding out about the Legend of the Lexington Hotel. Enjoy!
