Rite of Passage: Heart of the Storm Collector's Edition is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 52.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from An original and engaging game This is the first time in a long while I have stayed up half the night playing a game. This game has an original story line, just enough challenge to keep it interesting, and some interesting twists in the hidden object scenes. I particularly liked the novel use of the stages of grief at the end of the main game. Definitely recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT!! WOW!! What an incredible game I've just finished!! Just loved everything about it!! So intelligent, and well-made!! An interesting concept and twists and turns at every scene! Keeps you guessing until the very end! Even the bonus game was a treat! The HOPS challenging and just beautiful when the Asian theme was incorporated! The music was not overpowering, which let me enjoy the game. A poignant story of love; weaved with the jealousy of a scorned love interest which leads him to exact extreme measures of revenge.., The "if I can't have her, neither can you" kind! That, in itself blew me away and becomes the premise of the story... how a vengeful spirit comes to terms with his fate and redemption. You can't help but love Omni and Ashley!! I'd only wish it'd had a different happy ending for all.. *SPOILER ALERT* If they could send him back to the land of the living to save Ashley... why as a reward, could he not stay with her and his family. But that said, the ending was appropriate for the circumstances, and it was lovely nonetheless!! Kudos to the developers for creating such an entertaining game which I will play over and over again! Will definitely keep an eye out for future renditions of this developer, artists, and all involved in executing such a wonderful game! Bravo to the hardworking people behind the scenes that made it come together!! Not being an expert in what it entails, everyone worked together beautifully to make this gem! Excellent job done!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from solve the mystery of who murdered omni ( a monk) ashley and omni fell in love and another found out and got jealous. she was called in to help control a severe storm like none that has been seen before. her professor is trying to catch the dtorm in his storm catcher to reduce the damage but you need to beware of co-workers. not going any further into it because i don't want to ruin it for others. sequel........possibly since this is one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Revenge and beautiful art! Parts of this game are a little like an old Kung Fu movie ("I will save you, daughter!". LOL It's so beautifully done, however. The artwork is what we've come to expect from Mad Head Games...absolutely gorgeous. Most of the HO Scenes are a Zen-like experience. The music is soothing and a bit haunting. I liked the story line, too. A life ripped away, stolen before its time...leaving a spirit thrown into traumatic chaos. Please give it a try. I think ya might like it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from heart of the storm I am not good at writing detailed accounts of the storyline; that you can get from others that are. I bought this game after finishing the demo and are continuing to play it. It has fantastic visual detail, gameplay that is neither too easy or hard. I find it keeps me interested and I want to not stop playing it. It's fun and I urge anyone to at least play the demo and decide for yourself. The demo is short but as the game continues, it does not fall off as some other games do.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A thrilling ride worthy of movies As my first HOPA game, I'm completely mesmerized! The fun of playing is equal to a great movie but with me in it. I enjoyed the challenges and HO puzzle scenes so much that I had to stop myself from playing too long. And the story is interesting and reminded me of adventure novels I loved so much as a child. I can't wait to see what happens next in the town of Ashen Rise! I'm definitely buying this one!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent game, new story line... Hi all! Well, here I am, getting my review in late in the day again. Too much to do, too little time. As always, I review on the game play and not the story, but this one is a really good and different story. I have been waiting for this game to come out since I beta tested it back in October. This makes #5 in this series...yep, got them all. The game play is excellent, no problems at all and the scenes fit my large screen completely. I really liked the graphics, which include very nice animation and even appropriate facial movements, depending on what is happening and being said at the time. Colors are a little washed out while you are in the storm, but I think that gives more credibility to the storm. Once you are inside, they are very clear and true. Voice overs are excellent and fit the character very well. Especially like the sound FX. I'm not hot on thunder and lightning storms, but these sound FX are done very well and are very realistic. HOPs are a combination of interactive HOPs, lists, find this number of that, etc., and are nicely done. They are very clean and clear and items are not difficult to find, but you do have to use your brain on a couple of them. They are different and fun. There is also a morphing item in each HOP, so be on the lookout, as it morphs fairly quickly. Puzzles were interesting and somewhat different as well. They are not terribly challenging, but they are nicely done and as I said, somewhat different. Hint system is very helpful, but I did not see a transport feature in this game. The jump map is very helpful as well, and areas of interest are clearly marked. This is a time saver, as you do a lot of back-tracking in this game. Didn't even look at the SG, since it doesn't have much and didn't list collectibles. The only collectibles I found so far are a cloud with a lightning bolt running through it. These are quite large and easy to see. They can be in solid form or an outline, so watch for them. As I said, I have been waiting for this one to come out. The story is different enough and the game is challenging enough to keep me interested and wanting more. I have the need to play this one out and see what happens. I think this one will appeal to all levels of players. I don't give 5 stars easily, a game has to be exceptional to get them from me, but this one came close. Wish we could do quarter marks on reviews, as I would give this one a 4.75. Since I can't, I'll give it 5 stars, even though it's just a bit lower. Of course I'm going to add this to my collection. It is well worth the price of a CE. As always, try it for yourself and see what you think. We all have different tastes in games and you may not care for this one at all. Thanks for the reviews.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful Story What a gorgeous game, with such a beautiful story. I was sad when the game ended because I wasn't yet ready to let it go. The story is different than the usual stuff we get in these games, and had me drawn in from the beginning. A few twists and turns, with redemption in the end. I loved the first Rite of Passage game; the last one I was quite ambivalent about. Again it's usually the story that draws me in and makes a difference whether it's run of the mill, forgettable, or memorable. This one will certainly stay with me, and I wish we could see more in future of Omni. Graphics were as usual with this developer top-notch. I did not see any comparison in screens to the Beyond game (which I enjoyed as well, but IMO this game is much better). Outside of a silo and barn, there is no comparison at all, nor with the storyline. I personally enjoyed this game much better because the Beyond game felt more like an interactive movie. This one, to me, is a very good adventure style game, and not nearly the kind of character dialogue seen in the Beyond game. (I tried the dialogue on both settings available in the options, and frankly didn't find any significant difference between them). Cutscenes were not particularly long, added to the story, and did not feel like they were added to lengthen the game at the expense of the gaming itself. The game was not particularly difficult, but the level of challenge in the puzzles was enough to make me ponder in a few of them and use my noggin, and although there were a few that were very easy, for the most part I still felt satisfied after solving the majority. The developer continues to be innovative, providing interactivity in HOPS and types of puzzles that we have not seen before. Well done! Definitely a strong point of this developer, and a strong point in this game as well. I've been a BF member since around 2008 or earlier, have played hundreds of HOPS and adventure games, and rarely write a review or comment. But, this one deserves it. I continue to appreciate what this developer brings out, and though there were a couple games they made in last year or so which I thought were perhaps becoming a bit like all the rest mass offerings in this genre, I feel in this latest Rite of Passage installment they are right back on track. Thank you for a very enjoyable last couple days in interacting with this lovely story. Definitely recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Okay, so perhaps there is some copycatting and yes some questionable realities, but hey aren't we into these games to have fun? And that is just what this game did for me. I loved all of it, the imagination, the realism and the execution of a story that may not be original but for a computer game, hey, kudos to the developers. I was on the edge of my seat during the storm feeling that every move I had to make needed to be done now!!! Talk about anxiousness! To me it was real, more real than any other game I have played! I do not feel the need to critique the mini games or HOS (although they too were great), the game itself just entertained. There were times however when I hated the interruption of a mini game or HOS, I just wanted to stay with the excitement of the plot! Why get analytical over something that just grabs you and takes you in, please give this one a try, it's gonna get ya!
