Grim Tales: The Heir Collector's Edition is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 51.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Just too much I like the Grim Tale games but I don't know why there is such competition for dark games and this was OTT - sure maybe I exaggerate but really the theme is something we don't really need to be exposed to time and time again and this game really had me frustrated that the hint button was used more than I care to admit. The ending, however, left a lot to be desired...seriously - could they really be thinking of making another version of this nonsense

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Sorry but this is a no buy for me! I have would have given this a 2 star review but after seeing the apparition that plagues the little boy, he reminded me of Uncle Fester from the Addams Family TV series which bought back memories as I loved that show. In the first scene there was a spelling mistake which said "I need the right took" instead of using the word "tool", easy to do but surely the devs have a proof reader. The HOPS were incredibly easy, I think my cats could have found everything. The Mini Games and Puzzles were the same, one look at the screen shot and you knew exactly what to do. For me the storyline jumped all over the place and I couldn't get to grips with it. Hopefully we will get a decent CE on Saturday and one my grandsons can't play.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Hey, Where's My Inheritance? Aunt Anna is summoned to the Gray estate by Brandon Gray who lives there with wife Elena and son Billy. Elena has fallen ill, Billy has disappeared and an eerie being has been seen around the castle. What's going on? Grim Tales has been a pretty good series, and I own four of the earlier games. This game includes some time travel, but it’s nothing new, rather it is integral to the series. Visually the scenes are beautiful, and the palette is weighted towards reds and blues. The scenes are very detailed and each scene has several areas of interest. The music is very low in volume, and never intrudes. Voices are good - acting is perhaps a little overdone (Billy), but fine. There are no gimmicks, gadgets or helpers - a plus for me. There is an excellent map which can be accessed from an icon on the right. The map is highly detailed, colorful, and almost three dimensional. Despite the good artwork and cut scenes, in my opinion the game suffers from two problems. First, the story is not particularly exciting or interesting. Its more of the same: missing child, mysterious "other," you must save everyone - stuff that hundreds, if not thousands of games have done a variation of. There is not even anything special in the storytelling. Second, the game play is wildly inconsistent. In other words, puzzles are either really easy or terribly hard. HOPs are either a crazy click fest, or a cause of agonizing eyestrain. In particular, there was one puzzle in the trial (the shields) that I thought should have been included in the bonus material instead of in the game. CE extras - collectible character figures, morphing objects, screensaver puzzle pieces, secret room, 19 achievements, strategy guide (three chapters out of seven available in the trial), bonus chapter and Archives (what is it? Not sure, must purchase to view). I enjoyed the earlier games in this series, but I didn't see enough to make me want to purchase this one. Good visuals were bequeathed to The Heir, but the story telling and game play were cut out of the will.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from grim indeed.... i have played all of this series...this one is good.. not great. so much hopping to and fro....the storyline is ok. i don't go into too much detail as we, as reviewers, are ask not to, and i think it spoils the game for everyone......you have screensaver pieces to gather and morphing object.....same old dance...and there are soooooo many puzzles..overload. the graphics are great and the characters are wonderful..just same old stuff...good luck

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It's Alright.!!! I am not sure about this game. Not that great of a game. For me I am very picky. The graphics are iffy. It may or not be a game for me.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from I finally play it and it was a flop I have liked all the Grim Tales up until this one. I cannot even count how many puzzles and zoom screens I have looked at in this game. If you're going to live in a castle, clean once in a while. I found the game very disjointed and absolutely boring and ridiculous. The bonus chapter was just as bad. There are morphs and puzzle pieces but I honestly even gave up looking for them. Everything was so dark, I felt like my head was going to explode. This is a no from me.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Too May Puzzles I like a good mix of HOP and puzzles, but this game had very few HOP. Towards the end, I just wanted to finish it so I started skipping them. I never completed the bonus chapter, as I was so sick of the game by that time. Usually, Elephant Games are one of my favorites, but I was really disappointed with this one.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Your mother was right, To much of a good thing is never good! I have never seen SO many zoom windows, full of SO many boxes, cubbies, caches, secret stashes, furniture, drawers etc! Made my head spin after a while and gave me a pounding headache. All the scenes are dark and sinister too. Sorry really hate the game and I'm so sorry I purchased it. I was going to give it a one but I know a lot of work went into the game so I'll give it a two. Just dial it back guys/gals this game is overkill! This use to be one of my favorite series. This game I absolutely hate the last game in this series was boring and repetitive, maybe it's time to go back to the simpler graphics with better storyline and fun puzzles!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Next Chapter In Series Cursed I had finished the previous chapter and was excited to play the next chapter in series. Yes I did purchase the game but it has left me disappointed and confused.....This chapter does not go with the series. It is too dark, morbid and alien. This chapter was a mistake!!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Left me Confused!! I usually like this series but this one was not fun for me, It was to dark and depressing. I also was confused about the story line. I had to make myself finish this one.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not Fun For Me I consider myself a casual but intermediate player of these type of games & I have played & enjoyed the previous games in this series. I cannot honestly say that for this title. I played the full 90 minutes of the demo. I simply found myself using the hint & skip button more than usual. The HOS were dark & items , for me, difficult to find. I ended up skipping the majority of mini-games. The collectibles were difficult, again for me, to find, even using the strategy guide. I also found the the back & forth a bit illogical & tedious. Not a buy for me CE or SE, but you may love the game. As always I suggest playing the demo & deciding for yourself.
