Sea of Lies: Leviathan Reef is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 14.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Please, Eipix, More Story! Please note: At least half of the gist of this story came from the BFG intro rather than the game itself. Much like many of the recent Eipix games, this new entry in the Sea of Lies series lacks enough story to be coherent on its own. So the Pirate King ordered you, as daughter of the govenor, be kidnapped. Luckily your kidnapper is member of the pirate faction that hopes to defeat the Pirate King and goes to great lengths to have you escape with the plans to defeat him. You plunge into the ocean off the shore of an island and your adventure begins. Good stuff: If you've played any of the other entries in this series, you have a good idea of how this game plays out. Bad stuff: As usual at this point for Eipix games, not everything makes sense - You find yourself tied up in the captain's cabin. There is a knife stuck in the table. You use it to cut the ropes binding your hands. Do you pull the knife out of the table so you'll have a weapon? Of course not! You pick up a ship in a bottle instead and look for a place to mount it. Later, when you need a knife, you get a seam ripper to cut through various ropes, nets, etc. After fifty years of sewing, I would have gone for the actual knife! So, nothing new and lacking logic or common sense, we have a new average game from Eipix - do with it as you will - just be sure to play the demo first! As usual, I can't recommend what I won't buy. I won't be adding this game to the four previous Sea of Lies games I own.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from way too many puzzles I started out enjoying this game although I found the gameplay awkward and not very smooth. Scenes were dark so it was very hard to see things. I had set both the hint and skip to refresh very quickly and it was a good thing because I used them frequently. HOS gamers will love this as there were A LOT of HOS which were interactive and varied. I like HOS, but got a bit tired of them. Puzzles were frequent, tedious, time consuming and somewhat difficult. I skipped almost all of them. Bad part is when you skip you have to sit and watch the puzzle solve itself which can be a real finger-tapper. Not needed. And the dialog puzzles...I really don't like those. Color (although way to dark), animations, voice-overs were very good. Would have been a fun game if not for so many HOS and Puzzles, so if you are not into A LOT of those, I'd suggest you pass. Transporter map was OK, but didn't always show the next step. The hint was also a transporter hint so I used it almost all the time...especially toward the end as I was getting a little bored and tired of trying to look into dark corners for things. Hint worked well to find those. Ended well so no need for CE unless you like all those bells and whistles which are usually in them. I purchased this on sale or with a credit so I guess it was just an OK gameplay but probably would not play it again. Up to you.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not my cuppa To be fair, I don't think there's any blame on the side of the makers. The game was well made and thought through. For me however, I felt like there was too much back and forth for the sake of it. Could not get into the story (has a Pirates of the Caribbean mystique to it ... without the fun of Jack Sparrow) although it wasn't bad. The HOSes were fairly inventive (was definitely more effort in them as opposed to the run-of-the-mill HOS). Did not much get into the voice acting either ... but again, that's just IMHO. And yet, despite the obviously above average production value, I simply could not get into it. Think I am just fatigued (jumped into this one almost immediately out of my last which I absolutely enjoyed - Bridge to another world Oz - check it out). But the demo is worth a try, and you can decide for yourself.
