Mystery Case Files: Broken Hour Collector's Edition is rated 3.5 out of 5 by 135.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Everything HOPA needs to be Story is a bit convoluted but they handled it amazingly. The team who made this really cared and the small details reminded me of old Mystery Case Files games.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Wonderful Surprise To be honest, after playing the last two MCF games (Key to Ravenhearst & Ravenhearst Unlocked) by these developers, I was actually quite reluctant to play another one of their MCF games. In fact, the only reason that I (reluctantly) started to play it is that I had already bought it before playing those Ravenhearst games. And what a pleasant surprise it was as soon as I started playing it! The main idea might not be original, but it is certainly presented in a very original way. The story is very interesting, the graphics are great, and the game should be fun on whatever difficulty level you play it (mine was and always is "Insane" - hehehe). Usually, I really don't like it when there are any Achievements. I feel they only distract you from the story, which is supposed to be the heart of the game, after all. In fact, I wish there would be at least one Big Fish game series that did *not* have any Achievements... But even the Achievements were not a problem in this game (and in fact the two Ravenhearst games before it)! In fact, I was so impressed with the way the developers have *integrated* the Achievements with the game that I have to write a separate paragraph just to cover all the positives! So here we go. For one thing, even before starting the main game, you can check out the Achievements box and find a complete list of Achievements and what is necessary to achieve each of them. In other words, none of those *pesky* "Easter Eggs" or "Secret" or "Mysterious" Achievements, that only distract the gamer as he/she continuously struggles to figure out what that Easter Egg or Secret/Mysterious Achievement might be, instead of focusing on the main story/game. In addition, you can get just about any Achievement even after finishing the main and bonus games! Thus, you can get ALL the HOP-related Achievements, even finding the Lady Bugs, in the Extras section, after you finish the Main game (and those for the Bonus game after finishing that Bonus game). In fact, you can even get those rather pesky Morphing Objects after finishing the game! (In my case, I had already gotten all of them during the game, and opening that section in the Extras just confirmed it.) I said "just about any Achievement," however, because I had gotten all the puzzle-related Achievements during the game itself. But seeing the Puzzle section in the Extras assures me that you should be able to get those Achievements after the game as well. (Please, let me know if I was right about this.) And if all of the above (story, Achievements, etc.) were not enough, the developers have introduced a fantastic feature in the Credits which I have never seen before (and believe me, I have played LOTS of HO and other games): you can actually PAUSE the Credits to read any or all of them at your own pace. So no more trying to super-speed-read this or that. I especially like to know the names of the voice actors, and sometimes there is a message from the developers as well. So I really appreciate this feature and applaud the developers for coming up with it. In short, I really enjoyed this game; and would whole-heartedly recommend it to any gamer. :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Mystery Case Files: Broken Hour Collector's Edition This is the best MCF ever! Great creepy and sad storyline, beautiful graphics, fun and challenging hop and mini games; I loved every element of this game.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stay Inside Until the Room Comes to a Complete Stop! Thank you, Eipix, for bringing back your signature, multi-step puzzles, well-hidden morphs, surprises, and great music and sound effects! Others do a great job of discussing the various HOPs and puzzles, so I will point out the things that made this great for me: Skip All ability; voiceover mute option; interactive map; Skip This Part in multi-stage puzzles for times when I am in a hurry or lack patience; not too much conversation or interaction with characters; not too much hand holding; nice music and environment sounds. What I was surprised and delighted by were the moving rooms! I won't reveal too much about them, but my habit of touching everything in a scene was very rewarding! I did not feel this was cookie cutter like some reviewers did...there are so many games and developers have been turning them out for years...at some point we are going to see repeats of various things. The key is that Eipix managed not to get bogged down with repetitious use of one or more HOP scenes, didn't keep me chasing from one place to another in order to get small pieces of stuff before I could accomplish a task, and there were no annoying gadgets to fiddle with to see things or battle ogres. As a matter of fact, there were NO ogres, fairies, stolen babies, dragons, or helpers! Other than a bloody bandage and a close-up of stitches, there was no real gore, so safe for all ages. Try it for yourself!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Never disappointed with MCF My first casual game was an MCF, can't remember the title but I have always found them to be on the cutting edge. This game is no different. New and challenging puzzles and even a game to get into the extras, neat idea.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Much fun and challenging I played the SE edition and it was a great game. I love the multifaceted puzzles as well as the not-so-easy HO scenes. The layered HO scenes add to the interest of the game. It is more challenging than simply finding objects. The graphics are clear and some are unique. The voiceover is good. The music is appropriate. The game doesn't have you going all over creation in a back and forth way to get things done. If you want to use your grey matter in and enjoyable way, this is a game for you. I will be looking for more Mystery Case Files games!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Reminiscent of Ravenhearst 2! I've been a fan of MCF since Huntsville! I was hesitant to buy this game because of all the 1-2 star reviews, but I am so glad I did! The mini-games were excellent, unique, and challenging without being insanely difficult. The Bonus Chapter is crucial for understanding the motives of the main characters.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Jam packed with all sorts of goodies I like games that have lots of things to do/achieve and this game is loaded with them. There is so much to do and find that it was mind blowing to me. Extras like morphing objects, collecting lady bugs, finding the developer, etc. This was so much fun! I admit I was a bit lost with the storyline at first, but then as time went on it became much clearer. I will absolutely replay this game. This game is great!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from If you love puzzles you will love this game. When i saw the reviews, i wasn't sure i wanted to buy the game, but most of the bad reviews mentioned the hard puzzles. I like puzzles. This game has more puzzles than any hidden object game I've played in a long time. It took a little thought and taking some notes to solve. I loved it. If you want to be challenged in a game, this one is for you. The puzzles were not that difficult, but you do need to use your brain. If you just want a relaxing game with little thought, you may want to get another game. But for me, it was a favorite, and the only game i ever reviewed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Mystery Case Files: Broken Hour Collector's Edition WOW! We are frequent players of mystery/hidden object games and have played many over the past four years. This one is the absolute best we have encountered. Some of these style games can get a little routine. Not this one! Every puzzle, every HOP is unique throughout. Challenging game overall. Great entertainment value!
