Haunted Train: Clashing Worlds Collector's Edition is rated 3.2 out of 5 by 22.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Disappointing There has been some really excellent games released recently.... Rites of Passage, Hallowed Hall to name two... but unfortunately this game isn't in the same league. Story line leaves a lot to be desired and the game play is not at all a challenge, also the game is on the short side. Do not waste your money like I did on collectors edition but if you have won a free game or there is an offer on then for a rainy afternoon when you have nothing better to do then the non collectors edition would be worth a punt when it is released.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Simple game, not CE worthy, but not bad... Hello friends! Well, we have #3 in this series. As usual, I mostly review on the game play and not the story line, as others do a much better job of that than I. Graphics are fairly well done, except that occasionally the characters look as though they were superimposed onto the background. Colors have been cleaned up and are pretty clear and true. I say this because I beta tested this one way back in March, so they dug deep for this one, and it needed help. Looks like the devs paid some attention to suggestions. Even at that, the game play was very nice, no problems during the demo. Voices are well done and are age and character appropriate. I did not care for the "singing" story in the beginning, as the voice was a bit grating. Not a lot of music in this one, which is nice for a change. Very nice sound FX. Animation is well done, but not a lot of character interaction. HOPs are quite simple and somewhat cluttered. Even at that, items are not difficult to find. We just had interactive silhouettes and lists. I don't see that you can switch to something else either. I did like that you don't constantly have a full inventory, as you use most items fairly quickly. This eliminates a lot of back-tracking. You do need to find pearls in each HOP. I noted in the Strategy Guide that most scenes show two pearls. This is misleading, as you visit each HOP twice, so you only find one pearl at a time. This one seems to have a lot more HOPs than normal as well. You have a jewel in this game that "sucks" the bad elements out and gives you occasional memories from the past. This was often confusing and sometimes included a puzzle, but didn't tell you anything. I ended up clicking around and accidentally figured it out. Very odd to me. Transport is helpful and it does transport to longer locations. Puzzles were interesting and a little different. I found that they took more time and thought than I expected, but were not difficult. Collectibles are so simple to find. You need to find Omega symbols which are usually quite large and very easy to see. This was a little disappointing, as this game could have used a little more in this department. I have the first two in this series and really liked them. Somehow, I don't feel this one is quite as good and definitely not challenging. Story is nothing new and moved a little slowly. This is not a bad game, but one I feel is geared more toward beginners, or someone who just wants a simple game. I sometimes do, and I have many in my collection. I just don't feel this one is CE worthy. I will put this one in my puddle and wait for the SE. I frequently get the SE when I feel a game is not CE worthy. As always, try it for yourself. We all have different tastes in games and you may find this one to be exactly what you are looking for. Thanks for the reviews.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from SINGING THE OPENING SCENE DID NOT DO IT FOR ME I had a feeling when the opening scene was sung instead of spoken that this one might not be my cup of tea. I was right. I could not get into the story even though the concept is a good one. Time rifts and a train that never stops traveling, saving the world, etc, etc. It would have been a good one, had the music, the graphics, and HOPs been worthy. They were not CE quality to me, and almost amateurish. Perhaps I'm just spoiled, but it did not hold my interest and I had to struggle to finish the demo. It is just okay in my book and might be good for beginners. That would be my recommendation. Thanks, Mia.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not much to say. For once! C.E. Demo. (Nowhere near 90 mins.) Boring. Story copied, rehashed, 37.75 times! Then there's the hated 'gimmicky', thing - a sucky, shaky, amulet thing. Oh yes, it's used a heck of a lot, & I only played part of the demo. There's no WOW. There isn't even a W! Definitely not, in my opinion, C.E. worthy. Most C.E.s are heading backwards, with next to no extras. They should rename them - An S.E. with an S.G. Just my opinion. Enjoy.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Does Not Quite Cut It For Me I purchased the game and was really looking forward to playing it but I have to say in my opinion the story line is boring. I own the previous Charon Series and I liked them and they held my interest. This one is a chore just to finish. The HO's and puzzles are great and are interactive. Music is good. Graphics are also good. Please try it before you purchase.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from More Shadowland, More Guys in Beak-Nose Masks, More Save the World! If you didn't get the message from my headline, this game incorporates bit and pieces from other recent games and another round of "Save the World" to make up the new entry in the Haunted Train series. Olivia and Daniel are once again helping Charon. Olivia is at a museum when Charon has a disturbing vision of her being in danger. He and Daniel disembark their train in Amsterdam as rifts open in several places in town - including the museum where Olivia was working. Daniel will have to save the world along with his beloved Olivia and friend Charon. Good luck, Daniel. Good stuff: The artwork is nice. There are the expected game elements including a special amulet Charon gives Daniel, collectible Omega signs, and some CE bling. Bad stuff: The story is almost worse than the bad attempt at a story in the first game in the series. Everything else is so pedestrian you will be wondering why the Devs bothered. I find the lack of any originality in any facet of the game to be sad. If you get bored and want to keep score, it should be relatively easy to count up the many ways this game is like so many others. Play this demo and you will be as morose as I am.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Could have been good Sorry, but I also did not finish the demo. Lost interest quickly. Poor graphics, did not keep my interest. It sounded promising but after playing really good games, this one unfortunately did not cut it for me.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from train crash...... this review is of total game........this game could have been a great game...however...it is not. all over the place, tasks to do that make zero sense.......and the new norm is men running around in beaky masks........there is very little storyline....... just another waste of computer space.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from For Beginners Only I got through barely 5-minutes of this demo before realizing its elementary state. In fact I grew bored during the start. The graphics were slow moving and the front bench with Olivia's name dragged a bit. After circling around the train, and the rose bush I got confused on how to move forward, as the hint button kept bringing me back to the bench! I've played over 50 HO games, some that were lame, many others that have been award-worthy. This one is not one of those, unfortunately. Great for beginners, but not experienced or master players.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Bored This game was so corny I had to force myself through the first chapter. I don't think I will ever finish it and will take it off my hard drive to make room for another.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Do these devs know it's 2016? This game is programmed for CRT monitors, and there's no aspect ratio correction. When "full screen" is checked, the display is square, with large black bars to the left and right. When "full screen" is unchecked, the correct 16:9 aspect ratio is displayed...in a tiny window that takes up about a quarter of my monitor. One way, everything is completely out of proportion and many items are unrecognizable. The other way, everything is far too small. However, even if that was corrected, this game has other issues. In the first 30 seconds of the game, my inventory was full of random items I had no idea why I was picking up. Sorry, but I thought my wife was in danger. Why am I stopping to burden myself with a newspaper, a gas can, a fruit basket, a bicycle pump, and 85 other nonsensical things when I don't have a clue what the situation is or what I'll need? This isn't even remotely realistic or rational. Also, before the hurricane of down votes commences, I'm going to add one more thing which seems to be standard for all devs; perhaps they don't go outside often enough. In real life, screws are turned to the right to tighten, to the left to loosen. Every single dev does it backwards. The only positive I can offer is that it makes a nice change to have a male protagonist. Even from the perspective of a white female gamer (me), always having to play a white female gamer becomes tedious. Change it up, devs.
