Rated 5 out of 5 by from THE EPISODE OF DEAD RECKONING IS OUTSTANDING!!! Eipix achieves redemption after the 3 star flop "Snowbirds Creek" in August of 2016. Dead Reckoning: Death Between the Lines Collector's Edition is the name of this edition and it is here to rock your world! If you like the Hidden Object Puzzle Adventure games that Eipix Entertainment is famous for producing, then Dead Reckoning should be right up your alley! In this hot new game, you will be taking the role of a young engaged author of the book Dead Reckoning. After doing what seems to be just your average run of the mill book signing out on a book tour, things take a turn for the weirdness. You have been offered the opportunity of your lifetime. However, in order to actually get this opportunity, you had to beat out the country’s other 4 top writers in a competition and everything seemed to be going well until one of the writers dropped dead all of a sudden. Now, you need to figure out why the person dropped dead and get to the bottom of the mystery before the other writers, or you, end up suffering the same fate. The writers have all written books which are also game titles; Phantasmat, Hidden Expedition, Dance Macabre, Off the Record, and your book Dead Reckoning. A mysterious stranger approaches you with a rather odd proposal: take on four of the country’s current best authors and if you can write the best out of them all, then you will win the opportunity to write the life story (biography) of famous billionaire Harridan Welles. The gameplay of Dead Reckoning: Death Between the Lines is quite extraordinary and is more than capable of keeping players hooked for hours upon hours. The hidden object scenes are top notch and are quite challenging as well due to the clever object placement. As for variety, most of the scenes are of the traditional list based type but you’ll run into a few special scenes from time to time as well that have been designed to keep things fresh and interesting. However, if you don’t feel like finding objects, you can play a bubble shooter game instead which is also quite enjoyable. Dead Reckoning: Death Between the Lines also has tons upon tons of different mini-games that’ll definitely push your puzzle solving skills to the limit. Each and every single one of the puzzles in this game is highly engaging and has a unique design so you’ll have completely fresh experience every single time you play. It’s worth mentioning that the puzzles in this particular game are significantly more difficult than those in traditional hidden object games but, thankfully, there’s a useful skip button that you can utilize whenever you can’t seem to get through a puzzle. Onto the graphics, Dead Reckoning: Death Between the Lines looks absolutely phenomenal. The game takes place in a modern setting which is definitely a fresh setting because most hidden object games tend to occur in fantasy/medieval environments. The modern day art style has been pulled off near flawlessly as the game has tons upon tons of beautiful artwork, fluid animations, solid character designs and various other amazing visual elements. If you decide and pick up this Collector’s Edition, then you are bound to find all sorts of extra treats. For example, there is a bonus chapter in which you will be able to go in there and get to the bottom of the mysterious murder case that involved your sister-in-law to be. You can also use the helpfully integrated Strategy Guide along the way if you get into a pinch. There are hidden souvenirs along the way which you can pick up during the adventure. There are some cool media downloads you can get in the Collector’s Edition and the challenging mini games are re-playable. I have a renewed love for this unique series and when all said and done, Dead Reckoning: Death Between the Lines is a captivating hidden object game that doesn’t cease to impress....

Rated 5 out of 5 by from WORDS CAN HURT=BUT THIS TIME WORDS CAN KILL Harriden Welles has invited 5 of his favorite authors to his wealthy estate for a literary contest. The thrill seeking Lucas Routledge, who has written the Hidden Expedition series, the slightly neurotic Jessica Benedict, author of the popular Danse Macabre series, the reclusive Cameron Jones who somehow managed to write the Off The Record novels at a very young age, the paranoid writer of Phantasmat, Adam Johannson, and of course you, the famous author of Dead Reckoning, have all agreed to compete to write Mr. Welles' biography. The evening has just begun and naturally, someone has just been murdered in a classic Dead Reckoning style, which happens to narrow down the playing field. The murderer is taunting the other 4 contestants with riddles of their demise, and it doesn't take long to figure out that the murderer is killing the victims in the same exact way as the characters in their books have died! Whodunit? Let's find out, shall we? Welcome back Dead Reckoning, after Snowbird's Creek, I had my doubts that this series could make a comeback, but they have done a masterful job with Death Between the Lines. This is the series that puts the who into whodunits, not to mention the what, where, when and why as you interrogate the remaining suspects and try to stop a cold blooded killer. The only assistant you need for this case is your Tablet which helps you keep track of the evidence and clues you compile while trying to find the person behind the motive. Each scene has a Hidden Sign which in this game just happens to be cold, hard cash, Dollar Bills that is! They have altered the way you interrogate the characters a slight bit, instead of deciding if they are lying or being truthful, you are tasked with finding multiple examples to back up their statements in a Mini Game Hidden Object scenario. The Hidden Object Scenes are very clever in my opinion. There are some unusual kinds as well as the typical Interactive List finds, Keywords in sentences, and Silhouetted Shape finds. My favorite HOP was finding items that match a riddled type description, and some of the Zoom Zone HOP's did a nice job of blending items as well. Some of the HOP's have a Morphing Object and there is an alternate Bubble Shoot game to play. The Mini Games are decent, I thought the first puzzle was very creative in how they tied the game into the famous BF review rating system for each of these well known games. Below are brief descriptions of some of the games you'll encounter during the demo: 1) Complete pie charts by selecting and placing the parts correctly using the ratings breakdown. 2) Lead the helicopter to the top-right, using directional arrows to avoid obstacles without running out of gas. 3) Arrange the ornaments on the door to match the ornaments on the other door. 4) Use arrows to move the slider to each checkpoint, one arrow moves the pointer two spaces left the other three spaces right. 5) Select and drag tiles to recreate all of the shapes shown, all tiles must be used. This Collector's Edition has 12 Music Soundtracks, 6 Videos, 8 Wallpapers, 8 Concept Art pictures, 22 replayable Puzzles, 12 replayable Hidden Object Scenes, replayable Bubble Shoot games, 38 Hidden Dollar Bill Signs, 12 Morphing Objects in the HOP's, a Souvenir Room, 16 Achievements a built in Strategy Guide and a Bonus Chapter, enjoy a good book tonight!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from fantastic old fashioned murder Yes finally we have a good old fashioned murder adventure. And it is very good. I am SO tired of monsters, witches and evil guys with red eyes in cassocks all coming back from the dead!! so there... The storyline is excellent, gameplay good and the mystery keeps you involved throughout. Hops and puzzles engaging and I cannot recommend it enough. Others have outlined the game better than I, but as a seasoned gamer I have been enticed again.!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Eipix Devs, I knew you had it in you! I just knew it! Way to go! Devs, Applaud! Applaud! Applaud! You finally came up with the right strategy, game flow, and near perfect logic. I knew you could do it! I knew you had it in you all the time; and yes, I have been hard on you because I knew you could do so much better, but there was always something lacking in your previous games. But you came through this time with flying colors! Your desktop palette--tablet, diary, inventory section--hint button, guide, etc., is very colorful and well-organized. Everything is neatly in place. The story is exceptionally, well-written, and suspenseful; the puzzles and mini-games are strategically sound and challenging and amazing; the graphics are off the charts, voiceovers are fantastic. There are loads and loads of things to do that my head is still swimming! I'm nearing the end of the Main Game of this CE version and I'm anxious to find out who the murderer is. The suspense is killing me!!! I'm looking forward to playing the Bonus Game, too. I don't want to stop but I have to take a break and live my life! I love all the techno gadgets that are used so far in this game; innovative tasks; you have your collectibles--I haven't collected all the money yet but no matter. I'll go back if I can and comb through the scenes and that's easy to do with the great map that we have. I'm too engrossed in the storyline to worry about them right now, though. I enjoyed checking out the info on the tablet. So cool! The morphing objects in the HOPS scenes are really neat! There's so much to do! I highly recommend this game. Try it and see for yourselves. I know there are different strokes for different folks, but you may very well love this game as much as I do. Devs, again, bravo to you all! Outstanding job!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from keep moving until you find the murderer Wonderful game kept me going on from one situation to another with getting confused. I was like a real detective trying to find the murderer. Most helpful was the map very clear to the point. Missed some morphing objects because I don't like to look for them in the HOP, it wastes lot of time finding them. Puzzles are wonderful. Its a buy game.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from DO I REALLY WANT TO BE IN THIS COMPETITION? MAYBE THE STAKES ARE TOO HIGH! As the acclaimed writer of the popular Dead Reckoning series you have been invited along with four other authors to compete for a chance to write the biography of Harridan Welles an extremely wealthy and reclusive tycoon. Before you know it you have been whisked away on a private plane to Mr. Welles secluded mountain home where you meet the other four competitors. Things quickly take a turn when one of the authors is killed shortly after your arrival and only go from bad to worse as you are drugged and then almost asphyxiated when you get to your suite. Is someone trying to narrow the field or is there something more going on? Play this excellent new Dead Reckoning game as you attempt to find the murderer and stay alive. If you are lucky, you might just survive and win the competition. It is no secret that I am a huge fan of this developer and love most of the Dead Reckoning games but I would venture to say that this one might be the best yet. The graphics are very good although I have some time related confusion that doesn’t always make sense. Your tools include an interactive map and, as is the case with other games in the series, you have deduction tools at your disposal, this time all neatly stored in your tablet. The HOP scenes are well-designed and fit beautifully into the storyline without making the game seem choppy. If you choose not to hunt for items in the HOPS there is an alternate bubble-shooter game available. The puzzles are good but most are typical and familiar to those we normally find from this developer. I did find one during the demo to be challenging, at least for me since I don’t care for this type of maze puzzle. I don’t mind taking time to solve a puzzle but I want the logic to be a bit more obvious instead of having to make a wrong move and then start all over again. However, for the most part I like most of the puzzles and find them entertaining. The question is always, should I go for the CE or wait for the SE to be released? In my case I can hardly wait for the next HOPA game to be released so I generally am chomping at the bit by the time they hit the BFG market. If you enjoy CE games because of the extra content Death Between the Lines offers the following goodies: collectible $ bills hidden in each scene, morphing objects found in HOPS, strategy guide, bonus chapter, concept art, wallpapers, music, videos and replay of HOPS and puzzles, Bubble-Shooter game, and the souvenir room. All extras in Death Between the Lines are consistent with those this developer generally offers in its CE version. For me the biggest selling point in the game is the creative storyline. I am enjoying the way the game is presented and actually feel like I am a part of the mystery. Although I think I have figured out who the murderer might be, there might be some surprises ahead. Death Between the Lines is an instant buy for me but, as always, please try the demo to see if you will enjoy the game as well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Finally A Game Worth A Positive Review!!! Much better graphics/realism than usual. No otherworldly beings, spirits, ghosts or long dead relatives. How refreshing. HOS are enjoyable. Puzzles have more variety & play nicely. Good characterizations & VO. Found a few of the dollar bills & 1 morphing item. Now if we could just keep this kind of game play coming more frequently I would be a very happy fish!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from COMPETING FOR A WRITING CONTRACT CAN BE MURDER OVERVIEW AND STORY: Who will be awarded the writing contract to write the biography of the fabulously wealthy Harridan Welles? You are off to Vermont as the dowdy, bespectacled Ms. Douglas, mystery writer for the acclaimed “Dead Reckoning” series. Joining you will be four other topnotch authors from the various genres, surprisingly - all based on EIPIX game series! Quite clever! These authors are: Ms. Jessica Benedict, Romance, “Danse Macabre” series; Mr. Lucas Routledge, Adventure, “Hidden Expedition” series; Mr. Adam Johannsen, Horror, “Phantasmat” series; Ms. Cameron Jones, Journalist, “Off the Record” series; and you – Ms. Douglas, Mystery/Crime, “Dead Reckoning” series. You will be spending time at the Welles estate so he can ascertain who among you will be the best to write his biography. As a world-famous author your host While at the estate, your competition begins dropping like flies. Someone is out to eliminate the competition by murdering them and then leaving a short note addressed to you. Something sneaky is afoot here. Ms. Jones is most likely the suspect.? In her “twenties” she is just way too young to be a successful writer. (Try to tell that to the successful writers out there who just happen to be in their twenties!) Case closed. Well, not quite! You are going to have to do some sleuthing (we can always send in Jessica Fletcher to help) to solve these murders. There will be quite a few surprises in this game! This is a decent 5-star game. Yes, the story is absurd; however, I did find a bit of creative genius in EIPIX using their game series and the actual ratings for their games within the series. This creativity also extends to their puzzles and HOP scenes. This is a very-well designed game. Your helper is your tablet which contains information needed to play the game. As a sleuth, you will also assess the veracity of people you encounter by matching up their statements with a specific number of observations about them. Extras include a collection of 38 dollar signs and morphing objects. HOP SCENES: They are excellent and demonstrate some needed improvement. They include a multiple step one with a list of items and rebus items. Also returning are the cryptic clues and silhouette scenes. You have the option to play a bubble shooter puzzle in lieu of the HOP scenes. PUZZLES: The first puzzle deals with the ratings given by all of us reviewers on the Front Page for two of this developer’s games. You return pieces of a pie chart to their correct location. Other puzzles include an excellent, slightly difficult maze puzzle leading a helicopter through a path which has many obstacles within it. There is a mathematical puzzle in which you use arrows to move a marker on a navigation bar so that three points are targeted. The arrows move either two or three spaces at a time. There is also an easy matching puzzle as well. A LITTLE TOUGHIE: Yes, EIPIX has finally found a puzzle to perplex me. There is a tangram puzzle made of tires which requires you to place shaped pieces so that each piece is used and there are no gaps. Thank you EIPIX. I spent an hour on that stupid puzzle! My mind is finally fried! Actually,I am very delighted LEVELS: Scribbler, Wordsmith, Author, Freelancer (Custom) Hints: 10 to 120 seconds and Skips: 10 to 400 seconds EXTRAS: Map is provided as you play the game 16 Achievements. Some have three sections Collect 38 dollar signs Morphing objects – amount not given Replay 12 HOP scenes, 22 Puzzles and Bubble Shooter game 8 Wallpapers, 4 Concept Art, Souvenir Room, Videos, Music HERE ARE THE DETAILS (SPOILERS) FOR THOSE WANT MORE INFORMATION ON THE HOP SCENES AND PUZZLES IN SEQUENCE HOP SCENES: Some have an optional bubble shooter game instead. A. Storybook. Learn more on the story of business tycoon Harridan Welles B. Silhouette. Looks for items on a cleaning cart. C. Cryptic clues. D. Multiple step. (1) List of items to locate. (2) Rebus clues. PUZZLES: Puzzle Rating: (1) Extremely easy 2) Easy (3) A little difficult or time consuming (4) Moderately difficult (5) Difficult A. Assembly puzzle. Easy as pie! Place pie segments onto a pie chart for two “novels.” They are probably the ratings for two EIPIX games. Rating: 2. (Hidden Expedition – Midgard’s End” is a much better game than “Phantasmat -Town of Lost Hope.”) B. Maze puzzle. Lead a helicopter from start to finish while avoiding pitfalls along the way. You must also fill it up with gas. The obstacles move as you move in the game. Rating: 3. Much trial and error. C. Slider/Matching puzzle. Slide three ornaments around on one door so that their positions match those on the other door. Rating: 1 D. Mathematical puzzle. Using two arrows, move a navigation bar to hit each of 3 checkpoints. Each arrow moves the indicator 2 spaces to the left or 3 spaces to the right. Hear the story of how Welles made his money. Rating: 2 E. Tangram puzzle. On a grid made of tires, recreate a specific number of certain shapes so that all the tires are used. A toughie. Rating: 4 F. Matching. Turn two globes with symbols in them to combine to create a symbol on a plaque in the middle of the two globes. 4X. Rating: 1
