The Wisbey Mystery is rated 3.2 out of 5 by 51.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Simple, straightforward, FUN I loved this game, BUT the ending is disappointing and extremely abrupt. The game has voiceovers, some video cut scenes, mostly HOPs and few puzzles. There are 2 modes of play, both allow Hint and Skip, just different wait time. Gameplay is excellent. Example, any scene you enter, there are at least 5 things to look for that requires finding something to fix or find. You're looking into every crook and cranny for any room you enter. Game doesn't have a strategy guide, but it's not really needed. It has a map, which I never used because most actions to take and items to find are intuitive and there are helpful messages telling you what you need to do or find. The story is OK, but the detective gameplay is what makes this game a stand out. Would love to see more games from this developer.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Except for Spelling and Grammar I basically love the game in terms of interest, challenge, graphics and story line, but grammar and spelling errors are abundant. As an editor this makes me crazy and pulls me out of the game. It would have been an easy fix to have reviewed this before publication.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I Found This Game to be a Pleasant Surprise :) :) I like indie games from devs I'm not familiar with, especially when it is from a different culture :) It is a good way to use my PCC's :) After completing this surprisingly good little game I did a search on the developer and can see why there were words used differently;) I hope they make another one and the word difference did not matter to me. The story-line, mini games ( I skipped a few), hidden object scenes, game play and music were all acceptable. Some of the voice-overs sounded like they were text to voice and I found it entirely acceptable as I hazard to guess that it is not always easy or affordable to hire an interpreter :/ I want to thank Big Fish for giving us the opportunity to play a game from one of the indies <3 I did like this game and found the laid back game-play enjoyable and gave it a 4 out of a 5. Played on desktop PC running Windows 10. (did have to back out a few times but all okay) .

Rated 4 out of 5 by from VERY BASIC, BUT A LOT OF FUN REVIEW OF COMPLETED GAME I really enjoyed this game as there is plenty to do in each scene. Its a basic game with no frills, but it is entertaining. There is: * Voiceovers (with dialogue); * Casual and Expert modes of play; and * Interactive map (works well). The graphics are okay - a bit grainy and needs sharpening up, but I was able to find everything I needed without any problem. Items are easy to locate and use. Sound is good and the music is mainly orchestral. The voiceovers I think are digitally done because they sound very computerised. However, I didn't mind this. The hidden object games are straightforward which you will do once. Items are easy to find, however there are some wrong words there - like 'leave' is 'leaf', 'blade is spatula' and 'tranquilizer receipt' is actually a 'recipe'. This actually made laugh more than frustrated - so just go with the flow. I'm sure the developers will become more factually correct as they make more games. I don't want to put them off making more games if we come down too hard on them. If you need to use the interactive map, then you will see that it shows you the locations of where tasks are to do if you get stuck or lost. There are not a lot of mini-games. The flower mini-game I played took me ages but the rest were easy. Overall, I think the game was fun and I look forward to seeing of more this developer in the future. I know this game is a bit basic with no morphing objects or collectibles, but lets see what they bring us next - you never know, they may really surprise us. Comes recommended - go and have a looksie.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The Wisbey Mystery has got my attention. Inspite of some negative reviews, I was curious of the story line according to the positive reviews. Normally when some comment on how boring a game is, I won't bother to play it. Somehow I lose interest quickly, but the positive reviews caught my attention, I just had to try it. So glad I did. This is not bad, a no brainer, but interesting. I just have to see where the story goes. Lots of interaction which I prefer over HOPS, which by the way aren't eye straining. I totally enjoyed the graphics, beautifully done. The Music is mystically mysterious, and enjoyable. I just thought I should put my two cents. Have fun!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not really bad I actually enjoyed the game. Granted the designers' names for objects are a tad different than our's (whirlygig for some of us is a pinwheel, to them a spinning top, and the like) but it was not that bad at all to play so I don't see any issues with it. Only complaint was having to maneuver around a bit to get the cursor so change to down to go to another scene but a minor issue.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Uncomplicated and fun This is another game without all the bells and whistles. The story line is good and the puzzles are challenging. I really hope this type of game will set the standard for games to come. I will buy them without question and enjoy them. I'm looking forward to playing this one again.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Realistic Game If you like games with realism and not the purple and pink fairy tale garbage that pollutes a myriad of games that are available, then this is the game. Though there are some fairytale aspects to the game the realism manages to shine through-no bling, ching or bells and whistles, just a story line and a game.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Adventure Heavy and Love That Russian English What a great lil sleeper of a game! Very much into adventure and lots to do in each scene. Great haunted house atmosphere, good graphics, unintrusive music, good story kept simple, what's not to like? Love, love, love the Russian-accented English and English with Russian syntax. It made it fun, not wearying. I give them props for trying to do American idiomatic speech. Yeah, some of the names of things in HO scenes were wacky, but it didn't bother me. Kinda cute. I used a credit for this, but I'd gladly spend the money, and also play it again. If you like haunted houses and lots of adventure, snap this one up.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good straight forward play! This was a refreshing change. The story was good. The graphics were perfect for the game theme. The puzzle were easy, nothing to frustrate me! Good, clear HOs. I found there was lots to do in the scenes. The map was great, easy travel...no headaches. The voice acting was good...just one person did the acting...someone with what was a Russian accent. (I got a good laugh when the crazy girl grabbed the journalist. Her voice was hilarious, since only one person did the voice acting for all the characters in the game.) I did find the music score got monotonous after a while because it was pretty much looped. But other than that I like this very much. Good game for a couple of hours of laid back, no brainer fun.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A little Sleeper This is a nice little Adventure/HOS game. (There are some puzzles but they are in line with the story and not difficult.)It obviously doesn't have a lot of bells and whistles, but I think it a great game for newbies, and anyone who wants a relaxing hour or two. Pros: Excellent story line, not new, but well presented. The focus was on finding things and following clues, which is much more adventure, and what I prefer. Lots of nice HOS, with lots of things to find, and I didn't find any repeats. Drawings/art work painterly and fun to browse. The rooms and gardens were very different from what I've seen before, which was refreshing. Cons: The game only has stretched and small for the screen sizes. I had to click to small screen (with the distraction of my own wallpaper) in order to solve one puzzle, because it stretched too much. The music was mostly just distracting as if it was trying to add suspense, which wasn't needed. I turned it off after about 20 minutes. (Which to be fair I do with most game music) The other thing is that it didn't allow you to examine things more than once. If you click on some papers, they immediately disappeared with the next click, causing me to miss some information about the case. The last thing is the spelling. I believe this was due to the writer being more of a speaker than reader/writer of English. A good English writer could have fixed the misspellings and words that sound similar but are very different. However with a little thought, I could tell what the author meant, and speaking a foreign language as a second language myself, I know how hard it is to get it right. But otherwise a very nice little game, and the authors and artists are to be commended for this excellent first effort. I'm looking forward to playing it again. I highly recommend this fun adventure/hos game.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I Enjoyed! I enjoyed the game despite it not being a slick type game we have come to expect. It was a game of true seek and find. Dotting here and there to find objects needed in scenes. Nothing fancy but because of that fact those who play HO's for a long time were challenged to give up the notion of the functions of present days slickness. Just had to get over it. True the game was short and there existed plenty of opportunities to develop a better storyline. All in all I did enjoy the games simplicity.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The Russian accent is cute for a change Usually the typos, screwy English, and mislabeled items are annoying, but this time it was kind of fun! :D One of my favorites was trying to figure out what the devs and translator were envisioning as a "troll" in one of the HO scenes. Let's see if you get it. This was a fun little game. Go ahead and get it. I bought mine with a free game coupon.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from We all enjoy different games and this one hit me right! I enjoy a pleasant standalone SE so decided to demo. Here are the top good points I immediately appreciated: 1. Even on casual, NO SPARKLES!! Truly have to explore to find active locations. The custom cursor is pretty but kinda large for my taste, so tested with system cursor and found that in Casual mode, I saw a magnifying glass beside the system cursor. Didn't test to see if same would be true in the other difficulty option with "no hints". 2. JUMP MAP shows available locations and active task spots. 3. Nice enough graphics that (at least in the first half hour) don't rely on dark grainy obscurity. I personally like the soft realistic colors. 4. The one HOS I encountered in the first half hour was bright and clear with none of those blasted floating motes of light so overused by some big devs. 5. There is a totally OPTIONAL TUTORIAL which I declined. It stayed out of sight not returning to annoy me like tutorials are known to do. 6. It has an actual story that doesn't immediately hit as one I've played dozens of times as it feels in the cookie-cutter CE's. 7. It did NOT open with a car crash so bonus points for that! 8. With the caveat of "this far", no amulets, no pieces of amulets, no over the top color saturation, no portals. It will be quite nice if it stays free of the trite tricks so overused in too many new CEs. 9. It's a standalone SE so I see a punch code being put to good use here. Not sure how many puzzles or mini games, but no matter either way. Sometimes I love lots of mini games but other times I want to stay in the story and spend a quieter more peaceful few hours wandering around finding stuff and figuring out how to use stuff. Although the game may appear to some to be "old", I'm not so sure. It has current innovations such as a comprehensive jump map, so to me it seems more likely this is an early effort from developers we've not heard of here yet. As in real life, I try to patronize small businesses because they are being starved out by the mega corporations. Today I'm going to support developers who, although they may be new to me, did put out a game with a some real nice points going for it. It was well worth the demo and it's a buy for me. Thank you!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from THE WISBEY GAME IS A WISBEY WEIRD GAME BASED ON 40 MINS OF DEMO PLAY ONLY: I don't know where my brain was when I started this game, but I must have left it somewhere because I found this game rather difficult. Before you start the game, you're given two options of gameplay: 1. CASUAL: A tutorial and hints are available, and hints are reloaded quickly OR 2. EXPERT: No tutorial or hints available, slow hint reloading (Now this sentence doesn't make sense. If you are given no hints, why does it say 'SLOW HINT RELOADING'?) HERE ARE MY PROS & CONS: PROS: 1. STORYLINE: A decent storyline, but typical. A journalist has gone missing after he goes to a house with a sinister history. Your goal is to find him before it's too late. I will let others go into much more detail about the background story. 2. MUSIC: It's decent, but a little distracting at times. 3. HINTS: I chose 'casual' play so the hints reloaded fast. The NEGATIVE aspect, however, was when you happened to click on the hint button, and it didn't necessarily direct you to somewhere in a scene, but instead you see a glittering line that runs across your inventory section. I wasn't quite sure if the hint indicated an item in my inventory, or to the map, so whenever this happened, I just clicked on the map for a hint instead. 4. HOS: Interesting, but somewhat on the easy side (which to be honest I enjoy). 5. MAP: This is provided at the beginning of the game and it tells you where you need to go, and is interactive also. 6. LEVEL OF DIFFICULTY: As I mentioned above, I found this game somewhat on the hard side (which is a definite + for most people). CONS 1. LIP MOVEMENT: Get ready for a laugh because I've never seen such poor lip synching in all of the many games that I have played. For you old folks: remember the old GODZILLA movies where the Japanese would talk, and a minute later their lips would move? This is how bad the lips moved in conjunction with the words. 2. GRAPHICS: Poorly done, especially in the cutscenes. The colors were drab and blurry. 3. INVENTORY ITEMS: I don't care for games where you continually collect items, but you don't use them right away. 4. OPTIONS: As I mentioned above, you're not given any other options of playing the game other than 'casual' and 'expert'. 5. TIME ALLOWED FOR DEMO: Instead of the usual 90 minutes, you're only given 60. This is an unusual game, but I can't quite put my finger on why. Try it for yourself and see what YOU think. Enjoy :)

Rated 3 out of 5 by from okay game I was excited to purchase this game after playing the trial, but although it started great it just sort of lost the momentum after about an hour , it had good puzzles in the beginning then about halfway through it did'nt have anymore and it was a short game, maybe 2 to 3 hours, but overall I would say if you can use a credit to purchase then it is an enjoyable time , the translations are funny and the hos are easy and some translations in them require hints, like the last one says troll so I looked for a troll then I guessed on a fishing lure and that is what they meant lol, trolling lure.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It was Okay Haven't come across these developers before. The game wasn't bad but it lacked atmosphere for me and although it was clearly supposed to be spooky, you had this cute gnome in the garden and a not that unfriendly squirrel, and in the house a Madonna and child. All a bit random in my opinion. The puzzles were okay and the HOs pretty easy, as others have said you do end up with rather a lot in your inventory at times and some usage doesn't make that much sense. I also was not a fan of the bad (very) dubbing and the grammatical errors/spelling mistakes. Give it a try though..some may enjoy it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I Solved The Murder Mystery By The Second Scene I almost want to play this old game through, because it's kind of comical. The lip syncing aspect doesn't even come close to matching with the words spoken, there are several typo and grammar mistakes, and there are a ton meaningless tasks that make me chuckle because they are so ridiculous. The storyline is decent but very predictable, 15 years ago the local sheriff and his wife were murdered in their family home, but the two children were unharmed. You have been asked to return to the Wisbey manor to search for Mark Tigascas, a journalist who is also a personal friend of the police detective who hired you. For whatever reason, the police are not permitted to go into the Wisbey home, after all, the house is owned by a deceased sheriff, and there is probable cause if a journalist entered the house but didn't come back out, right? The pros in this game do not outweigh the cons, but there is a jump map available which tell me that this game isn't as old as I first thought. The graphics aren't horrible, but they are definitely low budget. Your inventory bar will be stuffed full at all times because every location has 4-5 areas of interest via a magnifying zoom zone, and every area of interest has 2-3 random items to pick up. It's a good thing there is a jump map because all you do is go from point A to point B picking up an item and placing it down in another. This is the majority of game, because in the demo there are only a couple of Hidden Object Scenes, which are simple listed items with no interactions, and there was a simple puzzle to solve, swapping and rotating stained glass circular sections that turn green when correctly placed. This isn't a total waste of money, or better yet use a coupon, because it has a good storyline, but unless the game takes a few twists, it's a predictable outcome. It appears to be a game that was designed with a different language and then poorly translated into English, but I could be wrong about that, because it's about an American Sheriff. If you can overlook the flaws, and you like easy gameplay, or just want to kick back and relax, this game might surprise you.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not Bad!! My only problem with this game is that it is sooo short. If you play the hour free trial then you will complete it. Its an older game and its foreign as well so in the hidden objects there are a few items that are different in meaning. The game is just "ok" to me because I'm use to the newer CE games. I would have given it a higher score if it wasn't so short.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Meh.... It's obvious this was made by a designer outside the US, (misspelled words here & there) which I certainly don't mind. But when the voices sound like a cross between a robot and an outsourced customer service phone rep, I get a little irritated. The visuals are right down the middle, meaning there is nothing unclear in the HoP's, but there is also nothing spectacular either. It's a cookie cutter game that we've seen a million times, but if you have several free game coupons lying around that you just don't know what to do with, go ahead and throw one at this game. Other than that, I wouldn't waste the money on this one.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Worst game I've every played!! This game had no continuity, the spelling was atrocious, and the english was more than just poor. The poor spelling created problems when trying to search for HO's, ie - leave instead of leaf. You had to constantly use the map and the hint to find out where to go next and, often, what to do once you got there! You didn't really find out until the end of the game, and I mean in the last 10 minutes, that there actually was a story line, and what it was. Save your money!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from This game needs help There are so many problems with this game. While the graphics are a high quality, proper English is definitely lacking. For example, at the porch door, "I'm not going to open it until the key and handle are missing." And the newspaper states, "Two kids are left alife." The computer generated voices are irritating. Some contextual messages disappear too fast to read them. You can't click the background to close closeups. You have to click the X. I could go on. If you can ignore irritating things in almost every screen, the game is not too bad.
Date published: 2018-01-29
Rated 2 out of 5 by from bad quality This game was terrible to play and I could not get further than a few minutes as I could not pick anything up and the map kept appearing every time I tried to do something. The storyline looked good which is a pity the quality of gameplay was so atrocious.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Can I borrow a handle? * This review is based on the demo only* Facts - * Developer - Argali Games * Release Date - October 2016 * # of HOGs - 2 * # of Puzzles - 0 * # Levels of Play - 2 * Has map Opinion - I usually enjoy games that aren't over the top and full of frills but this game had too much wrong to enjoy it in the least. The storyline was very predictable and seemed to drag on. At one point, I had 7 items in my inventory (I hate carrying around a lot of stuff) and everywhere I went needed a handle (a drawer, a door, a trapdoor, etc.). Of course I didn't have a handle! Really? The creators couldn't be more imaginative? Pros - I thought the graphics in the HOGs was very clear and concise. Cons - Where do I begin? The graphics in most scenes were blurry and often when I clicked on an area with the magnifying glass, the text flashed on the screen and I couldn't retrieve it again. The music was beyond awful....irritating to say the least. But what bugged me the most is the amount of typographical errors. In this day and age there is NO reason for this type of sloppy, untested distraction! Sorry but even if this game were free I'd pass on it.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Started Out Creepy, Then Went Downhill For me, who loves a good story, mystery, creepy, etc., this game started out satisfying. As it wore on, the story line became non-existent and discombobulated. No mini-games, HOP super easy, text storyline full of typos, and then the game abruptly ends. You don't know where one of the characters came from, no explanation. Just plain odd. Very disappointing because it started out so promising.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not worth even 1/2 Price This hidden object game is extremely simplistic. Though it has a little bit of a challenge in small portions, it's not worth the time for the more advanced player. Also, the voices are all computer-generated translations into English from another language making it difficult to understand, and the written words are gone from the screen before you can read them.
