Dawn of Hope: Skyline Adventure Collector's Edition is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 47.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Mad Head Mistake This is the 2nd game I've demoed lately by Mad Head that was done like this one, and I do not care for them and won't be purchasing them. I do not care for the different game play, maybe I don't like change, but I believe if it's not broke, don't fix it. The graphics are beautiful and story could be interesting, but won't be finishing it to find out. To me, these new ones are one big puzzle and not enjoyable for my taste.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Mechanics... The game was fair overall, I suppose. I couldn't bring myself to finish the demo. The game has been well described by others so I won't go there, and I don't quarrel with their assessment of the game as they experienced it. But the others didn't explain it was a bit like a slow moving platformer, with a lot of mechanical actions required and minimal HO scenes. As I don't enjoy such things as frequently having to put together a bunch of parts and fix something in order to do some simple task, this quickly became irritating and more than a little boring to me. Also the zip-lining was "fun", I guess, the first time. That was enough; by the third time it was more than enough. Overall to me the game actually felt like work, not fun. Now, this is mostly my problem, I'll admit. To me a good HO game is primarily to find well hidden/camouflaged objects in a number of scenes held together more or less with a plot and a lot of pictures, preferably bright attractive ones if I can get them. I do appreciate good art work! Humor is always a nice bonus, subtle or not; most games stay way too serious. Mini-games are a nuisance IMO but especially those with mechanical difficulties; I'm very grateful to be able to skip most of them quickly. Embedding the mechanical difficulties in the game proper just compounds the nuisance value. So this game rang all the cracked bells and just didn't resonate with me. Most people probably will enjoy it, but I suggest you try the demo first; I almost bought the CE on the special today, and would have been sorry.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Major Disappointment from these Brilliant Devs This review is based on an admittedly short sample of about 70 mins of the trial but the game, IMO, really doesn't do justice to these innovative devs. More thorough and detailed reviews have given descriptions of the gameplay etc but there doesn't seem to be anything original about the game; necessary inventory items are found nearby, HO scenes are lacklustre, mini-games are few and easy. Graphics and audio are fine as one would expect but do not compensate for a distinctively average game. I can't speak highly enough of the impact these devs have had on these casual games since they appeared , but ....

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Planet of the Apes, meet Lord of the Rings, with a bit of Tarzan The setting is a dying world of ruins (Planet of the Apes) ruled by the queen of the Elves (spitting image of Lord of the Rings' Galadriel). You need to retrieve the Nucleus from the Forbidden Zone (Planet of the Apes) while being pursued by a creature called the Wanderer and with help from a dwarf (Lord of the Rings). You must succeed where your father failed. To get there you will do a lot of swinging Tarzan style, though you'll use a grappling hook, not vines. The palette is filled with golds, browns and greens and is fairly easy on the eyes. The drawing style is somewhat whimsical, but leans more toward realism than fantasy. The perspective changes from first person to 3D third person while traveling over distances. Game play was mixed. In addition to HOP (18) and mini games, there is a device that is used several times to upgrade your equipment. Each time involves a brief match-3 game. One of the HOPs during the trial involves some, shall we say, creative use of objects at the same time someone is pounding on the door constantly. This was the most annoying part of the game and I recalled it vividly from when I tried the beta version. I recommend temporarily turning off the sound at that point. Difficulty can be fully customized, even (+) item indicators can be turned off. Extras: 18 morphing objects, 32 collectible faeries, jigsaw puzzle, rune game, character gallery, replay of HOPs, bonus game, strategy guide, achievements and the usual pseudo extra stuff. Why I don't rate this 5 stars: Personally, I did not care for the story. Besides the diverse elements, there is a logic error at the very beginning regarding the Nucleus symbol. However, it is different and I'm sure it will have some appeal. I found the game play on the whole to be a little less intuitive than most, so this could also appeal to adventure game fans. The game ends on Mount Mordor where you see the Statue of Liberty (I made that up, but it's certainly possible.)

Rated 1 out of 5 by from boring Another movie with some interaction...no game play Played about 10 minutes of demo that was all I could take. Don't really see the attraction of this game, maybe for kids.
