Cadenza: Fame, Theft and Murder Collector's Edition is rated 3.8 out of 5 by 63.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from best yet This is my very first review even though I've played for years. I have every one in this series and have loved them all. This one is the best yet! Many locations to visit, great, clear, colorful graphics, and good music. Plus, it's a lengthy game. I can't wait for the next one!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It's Gotta be Rock 'n' Roll Music! - Extras and Bonus A music game from the Fifties is about as cool as it can get at Big Fish: drive-in diners, the first Sputnik satellite, skyrocketing television, tailfin cars, flashing amusement parks, ice cream parlours and naturally Rock concerts, screaming girls with pony-tails, beatniks with Buddy Holly-glasses … we get it all. Although, I was a tiny bit disappointed with the music. It's by no means bad, but not as stellar as it could ... no, should be. Hey, it's Rock'n'Roll, baby! Any sound producer surely would leap at this unique occasion, I thought, would be eager and anxious to rock our computers with this sound. Remember Bill Haley, Little Richard, Chubby Checker? … not to forget the kings Chuck Berry and Elvis! But somehow these tracks lack the whole enthusiasm. They have the typical dirty, slack guitar, Rock percussion with hi-hats, there are some electric blues tunes with traces of Gershwin ... but all a bit bland and tame, without zest or much variation, neat, but not great. At times they even became so monotonous that I turned them off. If only the music would be as inspired as the HOPs ... Because these are brilliant, made with care and amusing to play. A colourful cartoon landscape of fast food, musical instruments to put back in their casings, a root chandelier with intricate Mayan engravings, broken pueblo pottery to fix, a drink to prepare in a messy bar or a complicated machinery to start. Varied, challenging and all perfectly integrated into the story. Don't forget to watch out for the morphs in every HOP; they are inexplicably not shown in the Strategy Guide. I was a bit undecided and waited for the Standard Edition – but then bought nevertheless the CE. A good choice, the bonus chapter is worth it. As for the unlikely story with body exchange and such: I don't see much difference to the first Cadenza where a magical tune hypnotized the whole audience. I mean, it's fantasy, and none of it really applies to the logical world. To me, this is the best of the series, right along with “Music, Betrayal and Death”. Many have commented on the main game, so I'll give you some details about the bonus content. When I read a review, these are the the things I want to know, since the main game I can try out. EXTRAS: - 20 wallpapers - 16 Concept Art: pictures with a before/after slider. We can see a sketch or a character in the flesh and how they appear after computer-processing; e.g. how a 25 year old is turned into a sexagenarian. - 13 Soundtracks - 9 achievements: each with three ranks. Real rewards for finding all morphs, for using no hints, etc. Not a single one is for simply playing the game! - All 17 HOPs to play again: We can mesure time and misclicks, win for each bronze, silver or gold and find the morphing object, if we haven't already. - Collectibles: 38 identical vinyl records, one per scene. The collecting continues in the bonus chapter, and we can go back after the game and pick up missed vinyls. The complete collection unlocks the “Treasure Hunt”, a big bonus HOP with most of the many items we collected in the 17 HOPs through the game. Nice, like a retrospect. - Characters: The whole cast of ten persons including extras in a group picture; each is described in one sentence. - After the main story, a bonus puzzle is unlocked: the rather boring Infection or Ataxx (the final fight Alex vs. Mike). The BONUS CHAPTER plays in 10 scenes, 7 of them new, 3 old, but refurbished. It contains four HOPs and five mini games and lasts over one hour. The story is an immediate sequel to the main game and a likewise supernatural hokum with Mayan rituals. SPOILER ------------------------ Before his death, imposter Adam had set a magical trap which turns Mike Valence now into stone. --------------------------- END SPOILER. But the script is very interesting. We play as Big Jim und must of course find the cure for that new curse. Fortunately, Martha's father had studied Mayan magic, and we possess his old notes. Time is of essence, thus Martha and Big Jim split up; we play alternatingly either Jim or Martha. The shift is excellently done: we end up in a cliffhanger as Jim, and - oops – are back to be Martha. A thrilling adventure to the end. Because I rather liked the figure of Big Jim, I was a wee bit disillusioned that there was never a hint of a budding love affair between him and Martha. Would have been the cherry on top of the ice cream soda :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My Fav Series I really look forward to these games. They are so good. The graphics are always so crisp and real looking. The voice overs and characters are always great. I love the story lines and best of all I totally love the scenes. Its a real-ish looking game play. Real looking streets and clubs, houses and places to go. This game had a scene in a log cabin and I just had to sit for a while enjoying and taking it all in with just how beautifully created the place was. I enjoyed collecting the music symbols, but the achievements were lacking. I like achievements in a room all by themselves and for them to be objects or a collection of sorts. I liked that this CE had such a wide array of wallpapers and concept art which are important to me. You had to unlock them as you went along in the game. Also the game had a nice selection of music as well. I love this series and the Danse Macabre. The best you can get on Bigfish with a little exception to the Park Ranger- Vacation Adventures games and MCF. Love you Bigfish and developers!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Loved it! Finally, a story line that is believable (ok, once you get over changing body thing), and consistently maintained throughout both the main story and the bonus chapter. Great music. Great visuals. Lot's of fun to play. Cadenza is a terrific series and is one of the few that incorporates people of color--wish we had more of that. After I played this I instantly bought Havana Nights which was also terrific!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful and Surprising I can be skeptical of these adventure / HO / puzzle games - same old same old. I know what I like and what I do not. This was loaded with what I love. The scenery was beautiful (stopped playing to take in the art several times). The characters were all gorgeous - men and women - and the puzzles, oh the puzzles! They were ingenious. Just when you think you know a hidden object game, the folks at Mad Head throw you a curve to keep it interesting. LOVE IT. I purchased the Collectors Edition of this game and the bonus chapter was entertaining and challenging, too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Why Bother With Face Swap When A Whole Body Swap App Is Available! Guitarist, Mike Valance has returned to his hometown to perform in a rock 'n roll concert that will go down in history! As soon as the curtains are drawn, Mike is attacked by an angry deranged man, who challenges him to a duel, of guitars that is. Mike accepts Adam's challenge, and the audience gets treated to a life changing jamming session performance! Quite literally, because Adam has put a voodoo curse upon Mike, who is now Adam, and Adam is now Mike! This supernatural body snatching scenario gets even more complicated for Mike, when he discovers that Adam is a wanted man, for murder! Mike's only saving grace, comes from an unlikely source, and he only has a mere 12 hours to reverse the curse! I like the storyline Cadenza has chosen, but I'm not impressed with the graphics in the least bit, and at times the gameplay seems monotonous and tedious. The graphics were fantastic in the first Cadenza game, the graphics were sharp, crisp and colorful, and the details just popped with impressiveness. Since then, it's been downhill, and in my opinion, the graphics in this installment are as basic as it gets, there's very little detail, and the colors just don't pop. Think back with the Kiss of Death, a game that incorporated all the sights and sounds of New Orleans nightlife which completely immersed you into the adventure, this game simply doesn't do that for you. This is a good game, but it's "just another game" there's just nothing special about any of it. As far as Collector's Edition's go, this one doesn't have much to offer, other than the staple extras of achievements, concept art and wallpapers, there are only two types of collectibles, each scene has Hidden Vinyl Records and eventually you will collect Characters with bios, both are just average features. The Hidden Object Scenes aren't the same as the one's offered previously in the Cadenza series, but in this CE version, they still offer a Morphing Objects in each HOP. Most are multi-layered with Interactive List finds, Replacing items back in the scene, and Silhouetted Shape finds. Some items have puzzle fragments behind the items you find and small puzzles to solve within. The Mini Games are decent, but tend to be on the easy breezy side with little challenge. Below are brief descriptions of some of the games you'll encounter during the demo: 1) Connect the dots to draw the shape Adam plays on the guitar, without passing the same line twice, with three different shapes total. 2) Rearrange the tiles to complete the symbol. 3) Rearrange the fins on the rocket to match the colors shown. 4) Rearrange the items so that they match the timeline written on the list. 5) Select the interactions of the strings to complete the code according to the clue shown. 6) Slide the gems and move the metal combs so the matching pair of stones are aligned vertica;;y. 7) Place the strings in the correct order according to the music Sheet. This Collector's Edition has 9 Achievements to earn, 26 Wallpapers, 16 Concept Art pictures, 13 Music Soundtracks, Character Bios, 38 Hidden Vinyl Record Albums, 34 replayable Hidden Object Scenes, a Record Hunt game, a built in Strategy Guide and a Bonus Chapter, enjoy!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Many CE extras but no achievements I enjoyed the game play, storyline, hops and relaxed puzzles. 5 Chapters + Bonus. 13 hops in the main game and 4 in the bonus chapter. Collected 38 records. Found 17 morphs in the hops. After all the records are found the treasure hunt is unlocked. Not hard and revisited some scenes. The mega puzzle is a hop in the bonus content. Can replay 17 hops. My favorite hops was a horned chandelier. The bonus hop I liked was the first one, it had all kinds of items from the main game. The music is nice. Electric guitar. Can replay and download 13 music tracks. Speaking of sound. I really liked hearing the popcorn popper. The bonus chapter is what happens after the main game and you have Mike, Big Jim and Martha again. The details I liked was the disco ball in a bedroom. A pelican flying around. The puzzles I liked was shooting and wished it lasted longer. Liked riding the rails. The elephant puzzle at the Magician's dressing room was fun. In the Bonus chapter I ran a forklift. There was one puzzle in the hops section. It was second to last in the bonus chapter. It was fun. It's last in the replay. The achievements had nothing in it, in the end. I think that's odd. It should have something. No morph locations in the guide. I think it should be in the guide. This was my favorite Cadenza game.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Finally a Great Game Been waiting for a game like this for a long time. My skills were rusty after so many dumbbell games. Beautiful and vibrant 50's style color scheme and what a story. No gloomy hotel to wander about in but neon-lit nightclubs instead. The story line was so compelling that I skipped mini-games so they wouldn't slow me down. Don't know yet if I can play them later. The HO games were so imaginative and fun. Keep on your toes with this game or you will miss things (like in the old days) but it is not overly challenging. Thank you for a game that I could love.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hop On The Retro Bus For A Trip To The Fifties! This is right up my alley...Cadenza and Rock N' Roll ! What could be better? Maybe a hotrod time machine? I enjoyed the demo, as it moved along at a good pace and gave me a good idea of what the entire game has to offer. It really is refreshing to see a game that gets us away from the fantasy theme for a awhile. The 50s were full of cultural changes. One of the most exciting was the "sinful" music making its debut, driving teenagers crazy and parents even crazier! This Cadenza story is about Mike Valance, up and coming rock star who wants to leave his mark in the world of music. He is very popular. We begin by seeing him sign autographs before his home town concert starts. A man pushes through a crowd of screaming girls to get his autograph. That's weird!! A little later Mike is introduced to the anxious fans, but before his performance begins a weirdo jumps onto the stage and challenges him to a competition. He takes him on and during the guitar duel something very strange happens. This is where Mike's life is suddenly turned topsy-turvy! Don't want to spoil the fun for you! I think it is going to be a really fun game and so different from the other games we've had to choose from lately. I already know I will be purchasing with today's sale. The graphics are beautiful and depict the fifties very well, indeed! The colors are appropriate. Nothing here that I see as a negative. Guitar is my favorite (and Sax) when it comes to that era. I enjoyed the music a lot, although it had a little bit of a modern sound to it (to my ear) that hadn't been "created" yet. The cars, clothing, hair styles were just right. Everyone's voices were excellent. The characters were rendered wonderfully...individual characteristics, facial expressions, body movement, vocal expressions, driving, etc. Whoever is responsible did a superb job with everything IMO! It was really fun to just look at. There were morphs, collectibles, achievements and a bonus chapter. In the custom game mode you could make the games skippable or not, and bring your skip and hint reload time down to 15 seconds. I appreciate all the great choices offered in the custom mode. The games in the demo were good and did not have to skip any. The HOGs were absolutely fantastic!! They were very interactive and the items were not out of place for story's time. I truly hope the HOGs are like this throughout the entire game. Also good that it wasn't a big junk heap to rummage through. Sometimes it is so frustrating. I think this game will appeal to just about everyone. I'm looking forward to a hefty amount of fun with it. I love the 50s and the music background. In my opinion it deserves 5 stars. God Bless....
