Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best game in the series! Yes, I finally managed to complete the Adventure mode!!! The game is really really good..... music excellent too.... There are three modes.... but the best mode by far is the adventure mode.... it's like you're taking a mission to stop some evil dudes... Now the game can be very challenging... and I had to recur to the forums to solve some levels..... such as the complex puzzle in level eight of stage 9......The story has a nice flow to it (better than dragonscales 1 and 2 IMO) and you have to pay attention to the dragon to not miss stars or important tips..... But this is a fine game with a great replay value..... in fact I was stuck at Boss 4 and restarted the game from scratch.... Yes, great game!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best of the series! [review based upon completed adventure mode] Pros: untimed, unique playing obstacles and concept, good challenge if you're trying for trophies Cons: only the adventure mode appears to be really interesting to play, lack of a help section, storyline/hints easy to miss I have all the DragonScales games and this one is my favorite. The developer clearly spent a lot of time cleverly designing the adventure mode this time around. Even if you played the rest of the series, the new obstacles and gravity scales levels will take a bit of figuring out, as there aren't a lot of instructions on how to play. The dragon who helps you keeps most of his dialog off to the side of the screen, so if storyline [the evil characters keep most of their dialog off to the other side of the playfields] or not missing hints is important to you, make sure you wait a few seconds before clicking on the playfields. The levels start out a bit dark and creepy as does the music, but it gets better the further you go along. The level navigation interface from the first game was brought back for this installment. Although it's pretty, those who haven't played any of the other games might find it confusing to get around on the "map". None of the levels are timed; however, there is a default "best time" from the developer to beat if you want to win a "best time" award. Plenty of other awards/trophies to win too if you're looking for a really good challenge. The minigames in between levels are much better than the ones in DS2 IMO and offer their own challenges now instead of just being a no-brainer for free coins. About the only drawback I can find with the game is that only the adventure mode appears to be worth playing? I did play about 15 levels of the gravity scales mode and it seems like it's the same few levels over and over - good zen game for those who want something a little different but nothing challenging, but I was quickly bored with this mode. I didn't play the practice mode, but if it's the same as in DS2, it sounds like another chill-out mode. I won't ruin the storyline for everyone here, but will tell you not to despair late in the game as there's a twist to the story. Enjoy!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LOVE THE NEW GRAVITY MODE! In the first episode of DragonScales, the dark mentor Kreuss found a way to subjugate the dragons and use their powers for evil purposes. The other mages banned him forever but his evil spells lived on in the hands of his disciples led by Lilith Darksage, Lilith had plans to use the appearance of the bloodmoon to amplify her powers to destroy the world and rebuild it to her perverse liking. In this episode, a caravan was ambushed in the middle of the desert. The caravan was sent by the Gravity Kingdom, and they thought they had killed everyone. Little did they know, a mage survived the harrowing ordeal, and that mage is you! Dragon Scales is one of the most unique concept for a Match 3 game, and I absolutely love the new Gravity Mode! I recommend that you play the tutorial so you understand the concept, then you can choose from three different modes of difficulty, Adventure which is a normal mode, Practice which progresses in difficulty, and Gravity Mode which is basically the same as the adventure mode, only the "scales" drop to the bottom if matches are made under them. (also requires you to make specified amounts of matches of each color) You are given 3 scales at a time, of different colors, to place onto a honeycomb grid, you can place the first scale anywhere on the grid but the following two can only be placed around the first tile upon the highlighted areas. Once you have made a match of at least 3 of the same colored tiles, those tiles will be removed, you want to place the scales so that you "set" up" the scales to make combination matches consecutively. Each level has to be completed before the moon bar timer depletes and there are other quests such as matching specific colored tiles to complete the level or making a certain amount of matches. In the first DragonScales game there were several available bonuses, but I'm not sure if this game has them, either I didn't progress far enough, or they aren't available in this version. The first game had the following bonuses available: Dragon Slash which removes a row of tiles off the board, Dragon Meteor and Power Blast, attacks a specific area on the board, the Sacred Hammer will undo the last move, a Sacred Axe attacks a column of tiles, The Avenger attacks a row and column of tiles, God's Wrath attacks a random area, Berserk attacks the entire board with mayhem and Moonrise increases the available time on the Moon Bar. This is a unique Match 3 game with brilliant and colorful tiles, I really liked the concept of placing the tiles on the board three at a time which makes you have to think about your next move strategically, enjoy!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Dragonscales #3 Super! Worth the wait! Liked #1 , loved #2. #3 is even more challenging not the same board challenges but new ones. Story line is less annoying than #2 that had lots of chatter I usually just skipped. This is over to the side without stopping play. Much better. New power ups and one of the dragons is along with you for help as you are the only surviving mage to battle a new enemy. Love it! So different than the usual match 3. If you haven't already try the other 2. Not needed to play this but worth trying to dragonscale experience. You won't be disappointed,

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Way too frustrating. I have both the previous versions of DragonScales and I loved them, however this one is much too difficult. By the time you get to the 7th level, it almost becomes impossible. I checked the forum for help and was able to get beyond the first more than hard level, was able to progress a couple of more, but them stalled out, could not find help and had run out of money to buy help from the elf. So there ya go...spend hours trying to get beyond a level or just quit. So sad, I have loved these games in the past but do not have the patience to spend 1-2 hours trying to work out a puzzle. Game does not let you skip a level, you are just dead in the water. Didn't appear by the forum blogs that I was alone in my frustrations.
