Dark Realm: Guardian of Flames Collector's Edition is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 32.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Firewielders, Mage, Queen and Dragon with a Griffin My title tells a lot about this game. You gotta love the Dragons. More about Dragons in the bonus chapter. I found the game to have some mechanically incline places, if that interests you. Has a unique circular journal. 8 Chapters + Bonus. Morphs in the Hops. I counted 12 hops in the main game and 2 in the bonus. My favorite hop was a cube with 3 drawers and the lantern. The bonus chapter is short. I did like that in the fighting scenes that you use a shield to block in one place and a maze that took the place of a fight in another. The main fight you use a card game that I wasn't sure what I was doing but kept it up until it finished. The puzzles I liked were the maze and playing the wind chimes. I enjoyed collecting the puzzles pieces and you can go back if you missed one or two. In the Bonus section your puzzle pieces turn into a treasure hunt then into the Ultimate hops, then into the ultimate puzzle, then into a wallpaper. Great. I liked the storyline and the characters. The music was good and had several tracks. I have all four of this series in Collector's Editions. My favorites are this one and Princess of Ice. Replayable 13 Hops, 9 music tracks, 11 wallpapers amd 10 concept art. Treasure Hunt, Ultimate Hops and Puzzle.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Vae Victis Be careful there is no mercy when the dark lord Azomod gets you. Queen Valera, the last Firewielder, is fighting with her Aunt and other allies against the dark creature. Breaching a strong seal between the Dark realm and your world, you have to defeat him before he takes over. Despite being the old story good against evil , this game is very entertaining. The story is well done , voices , sounds, music, matches the scenes. The art work is beautiful and colours stunning. You can choose from 5 challenge levels, collect puzzle pieces during the game and morphing objects in the HOS's. Think it is a beautiful game for everyone. I played parts of the trial and bought it straight away. Hope you have as much fun as I had.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I hope this isn't the end of a beautiful series The minute I started playing this game it was hard for me to stop because I personally love this series and I hope it continues after this because there are so many unanswered questions and cliffhangers from previous games and the series and in my own perspective evil never dies. I really hope that there will be another Dark Realm game even if Valera isn't the main character then it would be fun to see the next generation since it would answer a lot of questions that I have in my head about this series and its characters.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from To realize how good this game is, just try any of the others! I really wonder at myself why do I bother to buy games by any other developers, but Mad Head. Almost every time I am tempted by other games and series (with very few exceptions) I feel cheated. Yes, by all means, some of the puzzles have been recycled, some objects in HOP migrate from game to game, and sometimes it feels that this developer as well as the others ran out if ideas. But thees feelings last no longer than I try some other games. It is just like changing a Lamborghini for a Ford. Yep, I might not like the color, but the overall quality is simply exceptional. I am sure that you have read the other reviews as to plus and minuses of the game, but this is my overall feeling. So even if you are not a great fan of fantasy games, at least give it a try. O, and better start with the first one: The Queen of Flames. Absolutely worth it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 5-star Game...No Doubt!! Review is based on demo, only: I was thrilled when the game began and I saw the wonderful graphics...I knew then that I was in for a treat! I wasn't let down, either. The Devs outdid themselves on this installment of Dark Realm. I don't give out 5-star reviews unless they realy earn them, and this game does, in my opinion. The HOS are varying in style, and there are several new types that really worked, IMHO. And I love the morphing objects within the HOS, because then I know where to look for them. The puzzles were also interesting enough that I worked them...and enjoyed doing so. This CE will definitely be a purchase for me...plenty of extras that make it worthwhile. The puzzle pieces (collectibles) leave something to be desired, I believe the might have even been an afterthought...?...but most were hidden well enough that they weren't too distracting. Overall, this game feels very "technologically forward," which I expect from devs, these days...glad to see they are doing such a nice job! :) As always, try the demo for yourself!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Full game and Bonus I liked the game. I liked being a dragon. The puzzle pieces could be quite challenging, I didn't think it was too easy or too hard of a game, had to think a bit. Had some nice new games and not your average HOPS. Great job to the team! It was a great continuation in the series. My only complaint is in the achievements, there is no way of getting 10 items in 10 seconds. The HOPS are very well done, complicated and varied. How can you get 10 in 10? Thank you, great job!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LOOK ON THE BRIGHT SIDE, DRAGON'S ARE REALLY COOL! Queen Valera is the last remaining Mage of the Firewielders, sworn to protect their world from evil, by harnessing the elements of nature to cast spells. The first Mage of the Firewielders, Erasmus, was the Master of eternal flame. Because of his unique abilities and life commitment, the Firewielder lineage became the strongest of all Mages. Erasmus was the only Mage capable of closing the seal that was breached, between our world and the Dark Realm, which allowed Azomond the Dark Lord to enter the Kingdom. The Dark Lord has been banished to the depths of the Dark Realm for a long time, long enough to gather an army of evil minions, and plan his next resurrection, Vae Victis! Yes, this story has been told a thousand times, in a thousand different scenarios, but somehow, Mad Head games was able to pull this one off, making the plot just interesting enough to play it for the 1,001th time. I Beta tested this game a while back, and they did change one Collector's Edition collectible, which was a colorful Leaf in the beta version, but is now a Jigsaw Puzzle piece. I'm not sure why they made this change, perhaps the colorful Leaf was too apparent, but I actually preferred the leaf over the bland jigsaw puzzle piece. I also found the graphics to be crisper and more colorful, than in the beta version. This Collector's Edition also offers a Morphing Object within the Hidden Objects Scenes, which is a feature I love, but hate when only offered in the HOS's, mainly because I get wrapped up in the scene and forget to look for them, and you can't go back to find them once the HOS is over. The Hidden Object Scenes are in classic Mad Head form, they always have the same style to them with the same music, but in a good way. Mad Head always has some interesting scenes with interesting interactions. A couple of my favorite scenes required interacting with trap doors, sliding figurines, and even opening an alligator's mouth to find different symbols, and another scene where you had to pick up items in one cubicle, open up another, and replace the items in three different drawer pull outs. There were also Interactive List Finds that left fragments behind to collect, finding 4 of each symbol on each page of a story, and even Spot the Difference between a painting and the scene itself. One scene I thought was actually challenging was finding valves and gadgets that matched the silhouetted shapes shown on a panel, and some of the valves were hard to find because there were so many similar shaped valves. Most of the HOS have a Morphing Object available which is another typical feature for Mad Head. The Mini Games are decent, and doable, ranging from super simple to medium difficulty. Below are brief descriptions of some of the games you'll encounter during the demo: 1) Recreate the constellations in the clue by selecting a point of light and placing it on an available spot. 2) Recreate the tiles based on the clue shown, using the press to to form and forge the tile pieces. 3) Use a map to navigate the labyrinth, using objects you find to interact with different tasks. 4) Repeat the sequence order of symbols as demonstrated. 5) Pick the lock by using rotational arrows. 6) Spot the difference between the painting and the scene. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best of Dark Realm Valera, the Queen of Flames, with whom this series began, is back and needs all her fellow rulers to assist her in the fight against the Dark Lord. He broke free from his prison and now threatens this fantasy world. As already said here, a fantasy ride with all features in order to overcome this evil power. Fascinating HO scenes, good minigames and puzzles and assistance by the one or other side character, as the genie or the blacksmith. Brilliant move in showing, you do not need a constant helper to assist the protagonist! All characters are well designed, the Dark Lord reminds me a bit of Darth Vada... (this is more a personal view). Story is of course not new and spins on the saga of the Dark Realm. The game was an instant buy for me, as I played the beta some time ago. Big Fish gave us the chance of a throwback to the very first game with the weekly special offer (Dark Realm: Queen of Flames), so we were prepared to see a more mature Valera in her new adventure. For all lovers of fantasy, especially the more dark genre, a Must-Have!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Vae Victus Is Coming - A Lot To Do In So Little Time! Yes, yes... Mad Head did it again, but even better. This game is right up my alley, and I love it. The creatures, beings, and the like is just what I look for in this type of game. The story line is not unusual but is still captivating. The graphics stand out clear and appealing, and the music fits the theme of the plot. There is lots to do to get from point A to point B, and I love it. The mini games are challenging enough to not quit or skip, the puzzles are more than interesting and encourages me to keep on. I like the extra work in the hidden objects scenes in finding the morphing objects. The puzzle collectibles has me looking in each scene, which is something I like as an added task. Of course, this is the Collector's Editions and it comes with all the bells and whistles. I will be purchasing this game ASAP.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Happy Day! Based on the demo. I beta tested this game and have tried to patiently wait for it's release. Everything about this game is excellent. The characters are so realistic it's scary and the VOs are right on cue. The graphics, games, and HOPs are fun. This just might be this best of the series to date. Thank you my patience was wearing thin. Mad Head is #1!
