Midnight Calling: Wise Dragon Collector's Edition is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 45.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from No Serious Gamers Need Apply This was one of those games that i enjoyed so much I was inspired purchase of the rest of the Midnight Calling series when i finished. More and more excellent games on BF are getting negative reviews saying a perfectly wonderful game is to short, easy, cartooney ect ect and I am starting to think those comments are coming from the "serious gamers" basically soul caliber, and fallout style game fans who are great peeps but are a entirely different type of gamer than the Big Fisherman who frequent this site that love their HOPAs .It is like a horror fan reviewing a comedy like they would a horror flick. This really throws our reviews off and makes awesome games get passed over . I know i play these games to unwind relax and to look at beautiful scenery so they NEED to be challenging enough to keep my attention but not complex to the point where they cease to meet my needs as not a "serious gamer" but a Fisherman.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A fun romp! Love it. A game without horrible evil overtones. A game where you find the elements you need before you forget where they belong. The morphing objects were not obvious or the same symbol. I like the raccoon. I am relieved that we do not need to earn credits or coins to dress him or furnish his home! If you are looking for a challenge, this is NOT your game. If you are looking for some fun without angst this IS your game.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Different Strokes for Different Folks I decided to give this game a try in spite of the 2 luke warm reviews. I am so glad I did because I don't just like this game, I ADORE this game so far! It has all the bells and whistles that spell fun to me. I am all about fairy tale/ fantasy genres and the artistry in this game rends that quality beautifully! The voices and soundtrack are spot on and the helper is as cute as the dickens. For me, an animal helper really adds to a game and I wouldn't be surprised if there are a lot of others who share this feeling. I often get frustrated playing games that make figuring out what to do next or how to use an object to solve a puzzle ridiculously obtuse to figure out. Not so with this game. Logical is the watchword here and I sooo appreciate that! So this is a review that HIGHLY HIGHLY recommends this game!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Extra beautiful but short If you like the cartoonish-feel, then this the game for you! You get to collect fragments, morphing silhouettes and cute creatures. Beautiful ambient music, good game-flow but really-really short game. I mean that was the only -but huge- disappointment. I just checked out the music; its by Olecram Jos (on Spotify!).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from ELEPHANT GAMES REINVENTED! Appreciate these Developers who have hung in there with BFG players especially amidst petty complaints. Are the puzzle piece collectibles big enough now? Pretty soon, we'll be able to sit and watch a game play itself without any thought, skill or challenge. Few Devs actually create hidden object scenes any longer or hasn't anyone noticed? Initially liked large file/pure adventure only and reluctantly played HOG-hidden object games. Over the years HOGS were really good and evolved into HOPA--hidden object part adventure. Is it a HOG or a HOPA? This is a HOPA and a good one at that. Elephant reinvented themselves with animation! The helper raccoon is much like Elf in Mystery Trackers. Elf is adorable bur Elephant introduced humor with this one who is quiet and unobtrusive. There's a story and depth to the Wise Dragon. Pleasantly surprised and grateful to find a good game! Elephant Games has remained faithful and consistently very good developers with the Haunted Hotel series, I think one MCF and other excellent PC games such as the Mystery Trackers series. A definite buy along with the Midnight Calling: Castle on this BOGO weekend as long as I can use my monthly credits. That's all folks! Enjoy the 2017 Solar Eclipse--with protective eye wear of course.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Charming! I'm not normally a huge fan of the fairy tale games (Dark Parables excepted) but I really enjoyed the demo of this one. The graphics are amazing, the music and voice overs are great, and the puzzles and HO scenes are fun and interesting. I liked the raccoon helper, as he seemed aware that he was a bit cheesy! lol There are lots of CE extras, including a secret room, and collectible dragons. I'm giving this a 5 star rating, as I was surprised by how much fun I was having playing it!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from HMMM, DRAKE MIGHT TURN OUT TO BE A BIG SURPRISE Dragons, druids, and magic in a beautiful new fantasy game! You play the game as Diana, who was as a child to study with the Great Druid. Just as your training is coming to an end you receive a message from your father, a very well-known zoo magician, telling you that he is on the verge of a great discovery and that you should come home at once since he fears his life might be in danger. When you arrive back home you find your village on fire and after you rescue Mr. Chester from the flames he blames the dragons for the fire. Mr. Chester said your father had foreseen the fire and left an important message for you telling you to find a certain book in his library that would open a portal to the dragon’s lair. Thus begins this refreshing and wonderful fantasy game into a world of dragons and magic. The graphics although very cartoonish in the beginning are very high-quality and everything I expect from this developer. I absolutely love the music in the game and hope the theme continues throughout the entire game. Get ready for a big collective groan because there is a helper in the game – a silly and incredibly funny raccoon. Although I agree totally with another reviewer, I have to admit that his antics at times had me laughing out loud. I had thought that the era of pet helpers was over and I too am a bit tired of having them in games, particularly when they don’t make sense or add anything to the storyline. Having optional helpers in a game would be a huge step in the right direction and one that would keep both factions (the love and hate helpers groups) happy! I realize it would be more work for the developers but the games are so cookie cutter in general, I am sure they could figure it out. Okay end of rant! You also have the standard interactive map to help you navigate your way through the game. The HOP scenes follow the cookie cutter pattern (most likely set out by BFG) so if you play a lot of HOPA games you have an idea of what to expect. I happen to love the list type scenes that this developer primarily uses in its games but there is a variation included. We are beginning to see a lot more puzzles included in the HOPA genre of games and for those of us who love puzzles it is a good thing. One of my favorite puzzles is the one where we complete a mural by changing the disks but we must reveal various parts of the picture in order to complete others. Although most of the puzzles are fairly easy there some that are a bit more challenging. I really enjoyed the super puzzle (Rube-Goldberg type) that is included towards the end of the demo and found it really fun to solve. The puzzle is very creative and well-crafted because just when I thought I had finished solving the puzzle, another level appeared. The CE version of the game includes collectible dragons and picture fragments to find as well as morphing objects that are scattered throughout the game. For those of you who love earning achievements you have 24 to earn. Other extras include wallpapers, concept art, music a secret room, bonus chapter and a strategy guide. Even though the game begins with very cartoonish graphics they change after the first few scenes. I love fantasy games and dragons (yes I do have a collection of beautiful glass dragons) so I was very happy to see Midnight Calling Wise Dragon this morning. Even though I like variety in games and the type of games offered, I think that fantasy games are the ones I most enjoy. I enjoy gorgeous, colorful graphics much more than those in decrepit and decaying mansions so Wise Dragon is refreshing and a game I am sure to love. Yes there is that rascally raccoon but it is so humorous and funny at times that it doesn’t prevent me from enjoying this new fantasy game. Once I jumped into the storyline I found myself thoroughly enjoying the game which is the fourth game in the Midnight Calling series. Previous games were Midnight Calling: Anabel, Midnight Calling: Jeronimo, and Midnight Calling: Valeria. The Midnight Calling games can be enjoyed by the entire family – no warning about disturbing scenes required! As always, I suggest that you try the demo to see if Midnight Calling: Wise Dragon is a game you will enjoy. Happy gaming!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really Fun and Different As a long time player of Midnight Castle, this fits right in to the mythos of the story in the ongoing game. I loved the visual style of this game. I found the puzzles challenging but not so hard I wanted to skip them. Really nice addition to the continuing saga.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A jewel of a dragon fairy tale! Finally, a game without demons and devils and other horrors of the darkness... This had the perfect amount of everything- I like casual games to relax, but not so much that the puzzles are easy, geared to primary levels. On the flip side, I don't want them so difficult that a collegiate would tear his hair out in trying to solve them. This was perfect - just the right amount of difficulty to make it enjoyable. Loved that it had morphing items in all scenes, (true, the cursor changed to a hand over the morphs - but when I enter a scene, I look for the morphing item first and don't move my cursor around until it's found - problem solved. ;-)) The raccoon helper was cute - this one I really liked for the game because he made me laugh out loud - twice - and I sorely need that in my life right now - humor - so this is a definite buy for me! (The cute cat and mouse in the first HOP scene made me smile as well.) ****That said, I do agree that gaming companies should make the helpers optional - there are those of us who love them, finding them comedic and fun or just plain cute - and others who prefer a more serious side to their games, where no companion helper is involved with the tasks. I don't always like them either, depending upon what they are. Please, developers, make this feature optional in future so that all parties are satisfied. :) May I also make one more request- when the game starts, please don't boost the sound/music/environment levels so high - I often play games at night to unwind, when everyone else is asleep- and I have to scramble to adjust the sound so I don't wake the entire household! If you would set the levels at a low volume from the start, it would be ever so much appreciated. Thank you.**** The game was beautiful - music and graphics - with a story that immerses you from the moment the cut scene ended and you were plunked amid a burning village. I felt the need to hurry and save them - and I loved the way the demo ended (though I suspected that twist all along. ;-)) Can't wait to see where the plot goes from there...
