Secret Case: Paranormal Investigation is rated 1.0 out of 5 by 4.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from I Was Fooled By The Picture Shown Into Thinking This Game Could Be Decent When I looked at the picture shown above for this "new" release, I thought, not only are the graphics going to be fantastic, but the picture also gave me the impression that this game would have a really cool alien theme. I was wrong, dead wrong! I didn't play the entire demo, it was just too painful, but you play the part of Agent Clarice, on her first assignment investigating the murder of Agent X whose body was discovered at Stonehenge. Prepare yourself for a lot of meaningless reading, as you click your way through what seems like hundreds of dialog boxes, there are no voiceovers. Basically, you click on the Puzzle Piece Icons scattered about each scene, and the countdown begins, 3-2-1 and voila, the Hidden Object Scene opens up with several listed items to find. You are awarded points for each item you find, the quicker you find them, the more points you'll earn. Many of the objects are difficult to find because they are either unrecognizable, or the names of the objects are poorly translated, and the graphics within the HOS didn't even come close to the detailed crispness that the picture shows. I still have no idea what a "spanner" actually was, and why a highlighter pen looked like a tennis ball. Once you have found all of the items on the list, your score is tallied up, I received 50 bonus points, but there was no explanation as to why I had received the bonus. After just about every 3-2-1 Hidden Object Scene, you get to play a Puzzle or Mini Game, but don't let that fool you either! These are the most basic, simplistic puzzles anyone could imagine. The first puzzle requires you to drag 4 tumblers to replicate a password, the only challenge here was that some of the numbers were partially scratched, but each tumbler is in numerical order from 0 to 9, so if you can count to 9, you'll have this game in the bag! After a very challenging mini game, it's back to the next 3-2-1 Hidden Object Scene, at this point, I clicked the E-X-I-T icon followed by D-E-L-E-T-E button!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Is someone creating these games reading the feedback? I am finding it hard to believe this game was designed in 2017. It's as if someone found a game they made 10 years ago and said, "here's a new game". The premise involves moving around a few countries in hopes of finding an artifact that will save the world (sound familiar?) The issue is you go to a country and have to perform timed puzzles. In between, there is dialogue that is vaguely related to the obscure story line. Horrible game.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not worth my time... This game is tedious.... I don't care for the format... constant interruptions with 'conversations' and 'scores'..... I stopped after about 10 minutes.... sorry....

Rated 1 out of 5 by from This game should have remained a secret. Secret Case: Paranormal Investigation is an extremely old-fashioned game in its design, gameplay, and graphics. You investigate each area on the map twice, and can earn up to three stars for each investigation. Earning stars depends on how well you score in each area's timed HO scene and mini-game. There's a brief intro cutscene relating a myth that God gave an artifact to humans that would grant them supreme power. Humans fought over it, so a wise man destroyed it and scattered the pieces. Suddenly, you're in the modern day and at Stonehenge with no segué as to who you are or what you're doing, except some brief chatter about an investigation. Not the best storyline exposition, since you're left with zero motivation. All the HO scenes are straight list. Generally, you're required to find multiples of smaller objects, like paper clips. The scenes I played were all close-ups, so the objects were all large enough to see. No special effort was made to hide the objects in the scene. Mini-games were all quite simple: enter the given code to unlock the briefcase, rotate the concentric circles to complete the image, swap sound waves until you've created three coherent waves, and the like. None presented a challenge. There was no true animation and no voiceovers, but there was a LOT of dialogue to click through. Each scene had a gigantic puzzle piece icon with an arrow pointing to the HO scene or mini-game, so no exploration was necessary. Items had to be dragged from the inventory. And most of my time was spent waiting for the pop-up score boxes to calculate my score, which happened after every HO, every mini-game, and every scene. To be honest, I think even beginners to the HOPA genre would be frustrated with the slow pace of this game. Not only is your hand held, but you're led to every gameplay element, tapped on the shoulder, and told, "Look here!!!" It plays like it was pulled from a drawer labeled "Made in 2001."
