Secrets of Great Queens: Old Tower is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 22.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lots of fun! I really enjoyed this game! It has fun puzzles, interesting characters, and a lot of tasks and action. The funny (to me) part is how the real history of Ann Boleyn and Henry VIII is changed so much as far as locale and motives. It cracked me up as I played...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Witch or not, here I come Oh well, so what if your employer's mother was really a witch or not? And what if that employer was, by chance, of royal blood? You, in an instance, become a savior and hero, while trying to stay alive and find unexpected allies that seem to be ghostly? Yes, a lot of good things happen in this game, and you will have your own support "team" to help you out.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A TREACHEROUS JOURNEY TO SAVE QUEEN ELIZABETH'S HONOR After the death of Jane Bennet's father, Queen Elizabeth treated her like a daughter. Jane is now the Queen's personal assistant, and most trusted confidant and has been given a treacherous assignment to save the Queen's honor. Witch hunters have given the Queen just three days to reveal her true identity, believing she, like her mother before her, is a Queen of Witches rather than a Queen of the people! Queen Elizabeth has been granted a mere three days to get her affairs in order before being dethroned! Jane must travel quickly and discreetly in order to reach the Port. Her mission is to set sail and cross the English borders to procure proof of the Queen's innocence and procure much needed security. Jane's mission becomes way more interesting once she makes it to the Royal ship, Olivia, and meets Captain Louis. The Captain is just as handsome as he is charming, and proves himself to be invaluable on this important journey, after all, Jane is wearing a dress, lol. The graphics are stunning, I especially loved the details that made everything very realistic, the characters are lifelike, even the animals are realistic, and the characters and animals move realistically, not awkward or jilted which is something I really dislike. I'd rather everyone stay stationary then move sideways, or they don't bend their knees and they glide forward instead ow walking. In the Collector's Edition version, there are several gold coins to collect that can be used to upgrade the interface of the main screen, as well as the usual Achievements to earn and Morphing Objects, another one of my favorite, must have features. The Hidden Object Scenes are varied with several different styles such as Silhouetted Shape finds, Interactive Listed item finds, and even Multiples of the same item finds. Many of the HOP's have small puzzles to solve or require you to find a handful of the same items which then give you two items to use in order to open up the two blocked lists such as a brush to wipe away the dirt that's covering the tile. The Mini games I found to be entertaining, some are super easy, others can be a bit frustrating but there's a good mixture of both kinds. Below are brief descriptions of some of the puzzles you'll encounter during the demo: 1) Move the rose along every line to the empty circle. Select the rose and then select one of the green highlighted slots to move the rose to, passing along each line only once. 2) Arrange the statues to form the complete symbol between them, statues will glow if correctly placed. 3) Arrange the triangles beneath the correct gemstones by swapping along tracks. 4) Match the charms with the correct keys. 5) Move the tokens to their matching colored tiles. Select and drag a token to create a path that doesn't intersect other paths. 6) Find matching pairs of branches that aren't blocked. 7) Assemble a crossbow by placing parts correctly. 8) Rotate the triangles so that all of the small squares have identical symbols. 9) Throw the axe at the sack with the animal shown in the red circle. 10) Assemble map fragments. 11) Guide your horse to the port by selecting right and left hand icons to avoid obstacles. 12) Aim and shoot the number of colored balls indicated on the top, shooting one ball may change the color of other balls. The Collector's Edition has Collectible Golden Coins to purchase different interface styles and colors, 39 Morphing Objects, 14 Achievements, VG Team pictures, 9 Music Soundtracks, 13 Wallpapers, 12 Concept Art pictures, a built in Strategy Guide and a Bonus Chapter, enjoy!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Much better as an SE game... Hello friends! As usual, I review on the game play and not the story line, as others do a much better job of that than I. The following is a synopsis of my review for the CE version..."The graphics in this game weren't too bad. They were mostly very clear, except for a little blur in the cut scenes, otherwise quite nice. Colors are very bright and true for a change, no pinks or blues. Game play was very good, no problems during the demo at all. Voice overs are well done, but the mouth movement did not quite match up with the speaking. We have a helper in Captain Louie, who at times is quite amusing. Sound FX are very well done and are throughout the game, so you have no dead air. HOPs are interactive lists and/or find multiple items in the scenes. They are clean and clear and items are not difficult to find. I did not see that you can switch to another game if you do not care for the HOPs. These are nothing new, but nicely done. Puzzles were fairly simple and took no time or thought to complete. Took me a minute to find the extremely small icon for the strategy guide, which is quite easy to follow. Either there wasn't one, or I hadn't found what I needed to open a jump map. Hint system is quite helpful and it does transport to longer locations. You do return to the same scenes multiple times before moving on to a new location. This got old real fast." I did not feel this was CE worthy, but it does make a nice SE game. The game was not challenging, but like I said, I found Captain Louie's dialog amusing. The story is somewhat different, but moved a little slow at times, I think because you were in the same two locations too many times before moving on. Personally I think this game is geared more toward a beginner, or someone who just wants a nice simple game. I have many like this for those lazy days, and I have added this one to my SE collection. As always, try it for yourself and see what you think. We all have different tastes in games and you may find this one to be exactly what you are looking for. Thanks for the reviews.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Game but crashes The game was awesome! However it crashed constantly. On the bright side, it did save my progress. :)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Game I loved the scenes and the games, and really enjoyed the interactive HO's. In fact, I was really enjoying the game play, all the way to the end, when I found myself dumbfounded by the ending. I'm still trying to figure out who was who and what happened.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A really fun game to play, but abrupt ending I loved playing this game, which takes place during Elizabethan (the 1st) age. The protagonist is a Lady Jane and she has a dashing helper Louis who helps with manly tasks during their journey. The action is quick paced, with an even mix of puzzles and HOPs, which are all pretty easy, but not boring. Honestly, I can't remember the point of the story, except the ending is very abrupt, which I did not like. I was able to play the game on hardest mode, which allows Hint and Skip, which I really like. Highly recommend this game. The voiceovers are good with voices matching the characters on the screen, and with decent British accent. This is one of the few games in which the voiceovers matched the written captions, and was not too slow or too fast, and just the right pace.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great game but short Just completed this in a few hours, playing on and off... a bit shorter than I would have liked as the storyline is intriguing and the puzzles are fun, if a bit on the easy side. Please make the next chapter longer!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not worth it. Good game but it was very short. I finished it in no time at all. I was really disappointed.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Never again. Playing this game was not something I ultimately enjoyed, & I won't be playing it again. I got it after doing the demo because it looked to have a goodish variety of HO scenes & a lot of mini-games, & in fairness, it does have those things. Unfortunately, it also has far too many skeletal remains & the like to be my personal cup of tea. The graphics, which start out quite nicely, deteriorate after the demo to being among the worst I've seen, & Capt. Louis, our "helper" in this game, was an addition I could have done without. The game also ends oddly, but by the time I reached the end, I didn't really care about that. Lesson learned? When the demo for a game includes (SMALL SPOILER ALERT) a mini-game involving throwing axes at sacks w/ pictures of animals on them, that's probably a good indicator that the game is not for me.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Secrets of Great Queens should stay a secret I am so sorry I purchased this game without trying it first. The characters chatter way too much; the storyline lacks creativity and over all this game is a bore. Don't bother.
