Customer Reviews
Maidens of the Ocean Solitaire is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 17.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from At last!!!!! Perfectly working one up/one down solitaire! After a few failed (imo) attempts at a playable solitaire in the last weeks, here goes at last one lovely solitaire game. All the major features are there, good graphics, (underwater cute/bit cheesy creatures and mermaids),readable cards (both faces and backs are clear and don't make you squint to read them, also come in a variety to choose from). The game works smoothly, not too easy so that you invariably beat any level, not so hard that it is impossible to advance. All the usual and useful boosters are there for you to buy with the money you earn as you go, wild cards, undo, get rid of one card and so on. They show up in the form of beautiful and colorful pieces of coral... it takes time and patience to gather enough money, but, hey, that's what a solitaire is about! A buy, if you like solitaires!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from EVERYTHING'S BETTER DOWN WHERE IT'S WETTER This is a Higher/Lower Solitaire game, with 5 beautiful card themes to choose from, dolphins, clownfish, seahorse, jellyfish and an octopus, there are two different styles of face cards as well. The sceneries are beautiful, but the music tends to become slightly annoying, because of the repetitiveness. Achievements are earned in the form of experience progression, by getting a new Mermaid that joins the party, and can be viewed in the "Party" section, but other than just looking at the mermaids, this feature has no value or benefit. The goal of each level, is to remove all special cards that have a Seashell on the upper left corner of the card, doing so will win the level, even if regular cards remain, but it doesn't necessarily mean that you'll earn all 3 Starfish. You can replay each level as often as you want, to try to earn all 3 starfish, but if you fail to remove all of the special cards before running out of deck cards, you will fail the level, and you'll have no choice but to replay the level. There are 12 different locations, and each location has 10 different levels, you will need to earn the required amount of starfish, to unlock each new location. You can purchase helpful card features in the Shop, such as Wildcards, Shuffle and Undo features, a display that shows remaining deck cards, reveal 10% of face down cards, or a feature that allows you discard a card of your choice. I found that if you simply remove all Seashell cards, it's nearly impossible to earn 3 Starfish. However, if you purposely try to remove most of the regular cards, until all 3 starfish are obtained on the meter at the top, and then go after the Seashell cards, you can beat the level AND earn all 3 Starfish. This is a risky move, because you may not get the desired cards to fulfil the goal of removing all Seashell cards, but I absolutely hate it when I don't earn all available stars. I prefer Solitaire games that allow me to remove all cards on the board, not just the special cards. I wish, at the very least, this game would give you the option of continuing to play the game, after you remove the special cards, if regular cards remain. So for that reason alone, I deducted one star from my review rating, otherwise, this is a 5 star game, especially if that feature doesn't bother you, enjoy!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not much to do I love solitaire games and so far am enjoying this one. Imagine it will get more challenging as the game goes on but for now there's really not much to do. You have to clear the cards with either shells or starfish to win the level and as you progress each level requires more required cards. Otherwise just solitaire as usual. Nothing to build, HOS, etc. like other solitaire games coming out. Good game if you just want relaxation and no real challenge.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Quite a bit lacking in Maidens of the Ocean If it weren't for the half-way decent music, I'd have given this game zero stars if I could. How others could rate this solitaire game at four and five stars is beyond me. So here's why I couldn't wait to uninstall this thing: * You can't see the number of cards in your draw pile. You have no idea approximately how many cards you have left to play. * There were very few cards to play in the very first hand, and of course, there were no power-ups available yet. So I had to play the hand four times before I could pass to the next level. * This is probably the most maddening issue with the game: If you collect your seashell cards early and there are still cards on the board, you don't earn three stars for a perfect hand. In other words, you have to make sure you match the seashell cards LAST. Being unable to complete the entire hand is ludicrous. You should be allowed to keep playing so you can clear the board if possible. I can't believe people find this acceptable game play. * Hand drawn graphics are flat, two dimensional and juvenile. I found the background pictures distracting. * Power-ups cost thousands of coins to purchase. But when you win a hand, you aren't given all that many coins. So power-ups are unattainable for quite a while. * Finally, there are no little distractions in-between levels. There's nothing to decorate or build like in the castle solitaire games. There are no little hidden object scenes, match 3 games or mahjjong games to break up the monotony of playing hand after hand of solitaire. There are so many other solitaire games out there that are truly worthy of four and five star ratings. This one's not one of them.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Dull, Plodding, Flat...need I say more? if you love to struggle time and again through a slow, boring, uninteresting, lackluster game, then this is the game for you! Normally I Iove high/low solitaire, but this one has no zip to it. I felt like I needed to hit the mouse harder to help it along. The scenery had no depth to it, just looked flat. There was absolutely nothing stimulating about this game. I am amazed at all the rave reviews...I just don't get it. I do NOT recommend this game.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I hate loosing! This game started out with only 4 face up cards. I lost over and over for about 20 minutes and then quit. I had only made it to the second layout!!! I love Solitaire one up/one down games so was quite excited about this one. But there is no way to win with so few face up cards, especially when the game doesn't give you any cards to play. I love figuring out the best sequence to give you the most points, but you need more face up cards to be able to do that. VERY DISAPPOINTING! I was really looking forward to playing this game, too. It looked like fun challenges and interesting side game play, but not if you don't get a chance to win. I think you should be able to win at least 80% of the time for a fun solitaire game. :(

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Well? This doesn't really take any skill, they either give you the cards that you need or they make you play the same game over and over. It is completely luck or they have a certain amount of wins compared to a certain amount of losses and the losses are a higher number than wins. Didn't like it at all.
