Secrets of Magic 3: Happy Halloween is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 24.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from A lot of fun There really isn't anything new on display here, but it's all in the execution - and the game is beautifully executed. Bright, colorful tiles that are easy to see and easy to distinguish; plenty of modes of play from which to choose; music appropriate to the theme and it doesn't get irritating; and a good level of challenge. I have played a lot of match-3 games and it's not easy to find one now that captures my interest. This one won me over. I love all of the chains that you have to break and boxes that you have to smash; that's always a welcome addition. I am on level 70 now, out of what I believe are 100 levels in total, and I'm still entertained. I hope you enjoy the game as much as I am. :-)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LET THE SPOOKY FUN BEGIN! Secrets of Magic 3: Happy Halloween is right on time for that spook-tacular time of year. After rescuing her parents in the last adventure, Victoria is now a teacher at the school where she learned her magic abilities. Since Halloween is approaching Victoria has been given the task to decorate the school, since she isn’t very good at it, she needs our help! Jump in and save the day for Victoria in this fun new Match-3 game that is perfect for the season. The graphics in Happy Halloween are perfect as we approach the big day. They are colorful and crystal clear. Although there are no voice overs, there is written dialog to help you. Three modes of gameplay are available – Relaxed (unlimited moves), Challenge (limited moves), and timed (beat the clock). Not only are there three modes of gameplay we then can choose Casual (with less obstacles and more power-ups) or Expert (with more obstacles and less power-ups). With so many choices I am sure that gamers will be sure to find the one that meets their needs. As we play through the levels we will collect gold coins. Each level has several goals to achieve such as matching a specific number of various types of tiles. You will need to destroy fences, and then bring items to the bottom of the board in order to complete the level. If you are new to playing Match-3 games I would recommend that you choose the Relaxed, Casual mode to begin and then you can move on to something a bit more challenging when you are ready to step up the pace. Although Match 3 types of games are not my favorite, I do find that when I want a change of pace from playing my beloved HOPA games, Match-3 games will fit the bill. I have found several that I love and this new Secrets of Magic game is perfect for the season and for that fill-in game. I love this little game and it is so much fun that the time flew by and I had to drag myself away so that I could at least look a little productive this morning. Even though I had to buy the game, please try the demo to see if Secrets of Magic 3: Happy Halloween is a game you will enjoy as well. Happy Gaming!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from s-BOO-ktacular Match 3 Game Secrets of Magic has returned just in time for Halloween, and this time you get to choose how you want to play the Match 3. Not only can you choose to play in a Relaxed, unlimited moves or time mode, you can choose between a Limited Moves or Limited Time mode. Then you get to choose the difficulty within the Limited Moves or Limited Time mode, with either Casual or Expert difficulty, which give you either more or less power-ups, and more or less obstacles! I love having options, and I found that you can even switch between the modes mid-game without losing your progress! There is a meter on the left side that will even tell you the stats of progress when you hover the cursor over it. You need to make the required amounts of matches of each token type, as shown at the top, for each level. Most levels have a Key you must drop off of the board, that will unlock the hidden part of the Match 3 board. I found it easier to meet the goal requirements by going after the key as soon as possible. Large matches will give you a power-up on the board, Potions will destroy tokens in an X formation, Dark Pumpkins destroy all tokens surrounding it, and directional firecrackers destroy tokens in either a row or column. You can include them in a match, swipe them to an adjacent tile, or double click to detonate them. Dropping Chests off of the board is worth 2000 points. As you progress, you unlock Power-ups to use at any given time such as the Magic Wand to destroy a token of your choice, the Hammer destroys one obstacle, and the Whirlwind shuffles the tiles, the fourth power-up wasn't available in the demo or I haven't progressed enough to earn it. There are several obstacles, the power-ups are originally encased inside a clay square that you'll need to make matches next to first to break the clay, then drop the encased item off of the board. There are also Crates, and Stone barriers that require one or two matches next to them to break, tiles inside chains require matches of whichever tile is chained, to release them. I hated the fact that the "loading" page took forever in between levels, but I liked the fact that I could continue making matches, not having to wait for all tiles to finish dropping etc. You get to purchase Halloween items to decorate the Magic School Entrance, and each item gives you 3 different option styles. The best part about this game is that you can customize the type of Match 3 game you like. Enjoy!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sooo Cute This game is sooo cute. I play these games to relax. Love the graphics, the theme, and decorating the house. Nothing macabre or gross. Just good, fun Halloween theme that the kids can play too. Multiple choices for gameplay as others have described. Did get one surprise though. Even if you play Untimed, you still have limited moves to achieve 3 stars. If you exceed this, you can still finish the level, you just lose stars. This surprised me, as I didn't choose Limited Moves Option for gameplay. That's okay, just makes one think a little more about moves. Adding to that, you also have requirements for each level. Meaning you have to get a certain number of either pumpkins, brooms, etc. Found this out after I had solved the level (or so I thought), but didn't have enough "brooms". Had to replay for 3 stars. This adds to the level of challenge and for me, made the game even more fun. I do recommend it. Will look up the previous ones in the series as well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from As great as the first one! When I saw this was the next version I didn't bother to use the trial - just purchased it outright and I am not disappointed. This game has three different versions of it including a casual version which is what I am playing. No timing etc. so it would be great for kids too. Love the little character, decorating the haunted house, the power ups. Nothing wrong here. I did use the tutorial because I always think something was changed. Excellent game!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fun and Challenging I like a good match 3 game every now and then, and this one is worth every penny. It's really fun, and very challenging. It's well made and artfully done.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just in time for Halloween This is so fun! Normally I'm not a fan of match 3 but purchased this because of the Halloween theme. Idea is to accumulate gold to fix up a haunted house. Music is appropriate to the game and not the least distracting from the game play (like some is) and so far not the least hard to play. Always play casual until I get onto a game and once I finish will replay in timed. If you want a fun alternative to the latest offerings of nothing but doom, gloom and hideous faces and creatures this is for you.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Match 3 game As already stated there are 3 levels of game play: casual, timed and limited moves. Casual is OK and I would advise you try this first, just to get a feel for the game. Not much of a challenge so there is the possibility of you very quickly getting bored. Now, try either of the other two modes and you are guaranteed a challenge. Don't think you will get bored at all Great graphics and a fun game. I recommend this game.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Happy Halloween Great game for this time of year. Don't let the graphics fool you this game becomes harder even in the relaxed, casual mode as it is tough to get three stars as the levels progress. It is great fun to beat the time in relaxed mode. There are four power ups to assist you and earn money to decorate your house.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Loading bar fest! Really liked the look of this game. There hasn't been many, half decent Match 3's lately, without sparkly bits, & things! Game loads O.K. (Win 10.) I don't use sound. Graphics aren't too bad. How many loading bars/screens, does 1 game need? Try this, & be amazed! Game really slow, because of this. I also became bored, with all the waiting, before & after, just about every screen. I won't be purchasing this game. This is only 1 opinion, though. Other fishies love it. I hope you do, too.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great game, but very buggy This game is not for those who are easily frustrated. There are many bugs left. That means that you'll likely come across a level where you've cleared everything, but the game insists that you still need to break a non-existent tile in order to finish. It means that in one level if you don't use the power-ups in the correct order, you'll end up destroying the key that you need to finish the game. In all cases, the bug was resolved when I restarted the level, but it was frustrating. Otherwise, the game is good. The visuals are great, there are fun decorations to buy and several difficulty/challenge settings. If you don't mind restarting a level once in a while, you might really like it. But there's another, better match-3 Halloween game on this website, so why bother?

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Could have been a little spookier This is an ok match 3 game, better than most but not really great. Nice fun game for match 3 lovers with pretty good graphics. I like that there are 3 modes of play but I am always a casual player. I recommend this one for match 3 lovers but it's not quite for me.
