Halloween Chronicles: Behind the Door Collector's Edition is rated 2.9 out of 5 by 39.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic Game! I was pleasantly surprised with this game. I enjoyed all aspects of it and found it completely entertaining. The story, while familiar, was given to a winding and surreal journey and I was sad to see it finish. More like this game, please!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Interesting Cute game. Nice color, sort of a silly storyline. Some of the games are challenging, some are easier more for a younger crowd. Overall it is fun. I did finish it in an afternoon. Although the games have instructions, some of them weren't quite clear. At least for me. You do have side items you need to find or search for. Some of the hops are shadows, some are listed and some you have to interact with to complete. Overall I recommend this game if you are looking for something a bit challenging but not too hard. A fun way to pass the afternoon.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ghostly Haunting I am just playing the demo but I had to share how much I enjoy this game. It is fun and it shows a very inventive imagination in how it was created. Some people might say, Same Old, but I don't think so. I will buy the game and enjoy the rest of the story. Try it just for fun. That's what all these game are about anyway, having fun.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Creepy characters lurk behind Halloween board game Enter a world of rolling eyeballs, toothy plants and glowing pumpkins for a Halloween treat. I appreciate the immersive Halloween world created here with interactive touches. In certain scenes crows would caw when clicked on, a jack-o-lantern cackled and moved when touched, and eyeballs rolled around with the movement of the curser. The soundtrack was varied and changed to fit each chapter. HOGs were spectacular with a variety of experiences like a popup book with pullout tabs, three different fish texture scenes and a challenging music note match up scene. I also enjoyed games like the creepy tree maze, where users move along lines and avoid red circles and scary trees, and a skull line up game that matches glowing points on a grid. My only criticism is the chapter titled Witches. There is only one witch character I saw, and I was hoping to see a variety of witches. Overall fun Halloween game that I will replay next season.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A CREATURE FEATURE WHICH IS A MONSTROUS HIT! REVIEW BASED UPON THE ENTIRE GAME 7 Chapters Plus a Bonus Chapter – Strategy Guide: 68 pages (My Time: 8 Hours) Enjoy a creature feature, one in which you, your family, and even your “ghoul” friends can enjoy! The setting for the story is a Halloween party in which you, your sister, Samantha, and another friend, Harry, are whisked away into a world of monsters after Samantha begins playing the game, Kriben’s Game. Although your sister may be a little monster herself, you certainly do not want her to spend eternity as a servant to this demented evildoer, do you? Well even if you do, you will spend the entire game battling this nasty evildoer, trying to rescue your sister, and searching for an exit from this surrealistic gaming world in this fast-paced Halloween themed delight. I loved this game! It is chock full of creatures – from monsters to domesticated and wild animals. To me, this game is better than the previous games in this series and for me, one of the best games from Domini this year. The setting is a gameboard set within in a world full of monsters. The graphics are surrealistic with doors, candles and castles floating in midair. The graphics to me, are incredibly well-done. There is a wondrous chapter dedicated to witches set in an amusement park with roller coasters being supported on the tentacles of octopuses. The framework of the game is the same as in this developer’s other games. There are three collectibles which include morphing items from the monster Kriben, monster statues and coins which are used to purchase items for an armory. I found most easy to locate; however, as with other games, I did find some of the coins difficult to locate within the scene. As in other games, there is an indicator on the inventory bar which lights up when a collectible is within the scene. I found the pace excellent with plenty of activities set in this unique dreamlike setting with oodles of Halloween items thrown into the mix. I found no errors while playing this game and the gameplay was smooth and enjoyable. MECHANICS: • Four (4) levels of play including a customized version. • 38 achievements. • Collect 15 of Kriben’s morphing items and 15 monster figurines. • Collect 66 stone coins to purchase items for an armory. • 15 wallpapers along with concept art, music, and video sequences. • Replay 18 HOP scenes and 18 mini-games. BONUS CHAPTER: It is another story. Return to nineteenth century England. Play a Monster Hunter invited by your sister to attend a Halloween party. However, when your sister is kidnapped by Kriben to exact revenge against you, you are off to save her within the walls of a castle. Continue collecting the collectibles within this chapter. I was not thrilled with this chapter and found it a decent chapter but not near as good as the main game. There are four (4) HOP scenes and eight (8) mini-games. It is a long chapter and a decent addition to the game; however, I personally enjoyed the story and the activities from the main game better. HOP SCENES: Wow! These scenes are a creature feature extravaganza! Many of the scenes involve either animals or monsters in some way. There are eighteen (18) HOP scenes within the game, all of which can be replayed upon completion of the game. The scenes are creatively designed. In one, the player uses an octopus tenacle to hold a magnifying glass to search for items within a scene. They are all interactive and include lists of items, silhouette, cryptic clues, storybook scenes, and scenes in which items are located based on a small segment from the scene or items. The silhouette scenes include some in which the items located must be returned to the scene and either used within the scene or put back into their proper locations. MINI-GAMES: There are twenty-six (26) mini-games, eighteen (18) of which can be replayed upon completion of the game. Most of the puzzles have the choice to be played in either an easy mode for an enjoyable easy-peasy game or in a hard mode for a more challenging game for those who want it. I love this option. I played all the puzzles in an easy mode and will replay them again in the hard mode. There is a variety of different styles of puzzles. And although many of the puzzles are like ones seen in past games, Domini always provides a unique twist on their puzzles in all their games. SPOILERS: HERE ARE A FEW OF THE MINI-GAMES AFTER THE DEMO: (E = Easy; H = Hard) (Each puzzle is dedicated to some literary or cinematographic monster) A. E/H. Aliens and the String Theory. Switch puzzle. Move 10 beads located on three strings from the left to the right on 3 other strings. All beads must fit onto the strings. In the hard version the beads must be rotated to fit on the other 3 strings B. E/H. Pumpkin Head. Alignment puzzle. Align pumpkins on 6 rows so that each column has the correct number as listed at the top of the grid. C. E/H. Shapeshifter. Maze puzzle. Move a game character to a colored token. That token will transport the player to a token of its matching color. Then move the character to another colored token next to it. Continue to dart in and out of the tokens until landing at the end post. The harder version has a more difficult set up to reach the final token. D. E/H. Phantom of the Opera. Assembly/Sequence puzzle Place parts of theater scenes in an amusement park into a scene in the proper sequential order as per a given diagram. In the hard version, if you make a mistake, you must restart. E. E/H. The Minotaur. Circular Maze Puzzle. Move a key to a lock in the center of a circular maze by using directional arrows to move across pathways while avoiding skulls and arrows within your path. The skulls and arrows move at the same time you move so plot your moves. The harder version has more skulls. BONUS CHAPTER: F. E/H. Medusa. Connection puzzle. Connect different colored snakes with a matching stone of the same color without crossing lines in an 8 x 6 grid. The easy version has 5 snakes, the hard version has 6 snakes. G. E/H. HAL 9000 the Robot. Assembly puzzle. Create 5 complex symbols by choosing the correct symbols which, when combined, create the more complex ones. H. E/H. IT Came from Outer Space. Sequence puzzle. Press symbols in the proper sequence on a globe. The easy version has 8 symbols and the hard has 11 symbols.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Game I had two games and was trying to decide which one to buy. The other one had all the good reviews and this one not so, but after finishing both demos, for me, there was no contest. I had so much fun playing this game. Not too easy and not too hard, it ran smoothly. It was as good as the old days and money well worth spent.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Perfect Halloween Game! I absolutely love this Halloween game! The ambience is PERFECT! You start out playing a game where your friend accidentally summons Kriben, and off you go to a whole Halloween world! It's spooky but not too scary and includes new things and legends like Bloody Mary. The whole world, every detail, is dedicated to being creepy, like having eyeballs everywhere, extreme version of flytraps, and damaged floating doors. It's just fantastic and a lot of fun! In each scene, you'll need to find at least one collectible. They could include Kriben's things (morph) in full scenes, monster statues in full scenes, or stone coins in close-up scenes. Some of them aren't so easy, but when one is available in a scene, it's indicated in the bottom left. I highly recommend this game for Halloween!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not My Cup o' Brew, But... Well, I am in the middle of playing this monsterful little opus. I like a good old fashioned Halloween, so I have to admit this is just not my style of gaming as far as Halloween goes. So I am going to be objective here as many of you will enjoy this game. I am always a little trepidacious when buying a Domini game as I am usually disappointed. Vapid story lines, same bells and whistles, a deluge of the color purple, ridiculous scavenger hunts and the most outrageous uses for mail boxes. But, it's Halloween, so this game was a go, no questions asked. Well, I was surprised to find really good graphics with barely any purple at all! The graphics are chock full of interactive detail which added to the fun- honestly, I am impressed. Domini usually has great find 'ems and I like the hunt. I am enjoying the puzzles-most of them are based on the usual paradigms but have a few twists in them to make them interesting. The HOPs have the match-3 option and are also enjoyable with a few imaginative twists here and there. When beginning the game, I came upon the dreaded mailbox: uh-oh, what would be in here? Tree trimmers and my grandmother's old slip covers? No!!! It was actually mail!!! A talking letter!! Again, Domini gets another star for improvement. The voice-overs are annoying and underwhelming. But, I'm giving Domini a pass here as maybe Samantha (female lead character) really is from Sherman Oaks, California as her Valley Girl Speak is spot on...totally, fer sure. (lol) As I've said previously, this particular Halloween game is a little sophomoric for me, the characters shallow. I don't like the plot line or monster theme, especially when they are squid- like. Halloween is about the one night when the veil between living humans and those that have passed into the beyond is thinnest. Not monsters...although my mother-in-law, may she rest in the peace she never gave me, might be able to pass for a monster but other than that... Only kidding folks (kinda). Just trying to lighten it up. In closing, the graphics in this game are truly its saving grace. They're busy and fun. I'm having fun finding my way through the game but I'm not blown away. But, that's just me. There are many, many that will love this game. I definitely recommend it for some spooky fun.
