Detective Olivia: The Cult of Whisperers Collector's Edition is rated 3.6 out of 5 by 20.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from something different Help Olivia find her mentor. The only frustration was the levels where an element affected everything if left to 'die'. Player has to keep 'feeding' it to move thru the level which mean taking longer to get what was needed to complete other tasks. I played on the Easy mode, and these levels took a while. Can;t imagine how it could be done on Timed mode and earn 3 stars. Otherwise, I look forward to another game with Detective Olivia!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This Ain't No Alice She surely doesn't live here. This is Detective Olivia's territory with a darker, more occult vibe to it. Each level is like a mini-mission, charged with collecting various mysterious items, some of which will have you scratching your head figuring out what they are. Tweedle brothers have morphed into taller, more secret agent-like rogues. Graphics are great--well drawn and highly detailed 'scapes, dark but attractive in the initial levels. Have to watch your resources carefully and remember to access your bonuses which are tucked away in an almost-hidden corner. You can adjust sounds, music, hints, dialogs, languages and play in chill-out, normal or hard modes. Nice and fun! One of the first devs to incorporate a little more diversity into the games characters. If you're lucky, Olivia will do a moon-run for you, moving backwards along the dark trails. I think it's a glitch but so what.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Different kind of game I loved that this game is different from the standard time management/hidden object games out there. It's unique and able to be replayed over and over again! Love it! Make more games like this!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A superb intricate hybrid TM! If you are a TM buff I think you are going to love this game, not only for its smooth gameplay and great graphics, but also the reminders of so many games you have played sometime lol. We have a bunch of Riddley looking detectives, we have dynamite that will explode if you don't disarm it in time, and we have a wonderland of building choices, and collectables. Whilst the buildings are still a bit cartoon like, the background graphics make you think you are playing within a hidden object game, and on each level there are detective badges that give you jigsaw puzzle pieces (and they show on the map)..and disappearing palettes to grab for artwork stored in the folder at the bottom of the screen. There are so many choices in this game, including 3 modes of play..and hooray..you can toggle! If it gets too much in timed you can just replay in relax to move on. You can totally disable the dialogue or just skip it level by level. There are the usual TM objects, upgradable buildings, factories, carts, coins, and food and store pantries ..but there are also 'insight books' that can be traded at the 'buildings' for the resource you need. I started playing in timed..but toggled a few times just to wrap my head around the very intricate choices! There is a choice of bonuses on a wheel. There is a good numbered strategy guide, that even tells you the best bonus to use, and if you work along the buttons shows where the puzzle pieces are too. I am so impressed by this game. If you love TM I think you will not only enjoy the game for what it is, which is really a mystery to solve...but also the reminders of games you have loved before too. But always try the demo first. Enjoy!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A stunning new TM series From the same developer that brings us Alice and Alicia now comes Olivia and wow, this game has it all. There are so many options you can play around with here including changing your mode without having to start a new game. They have cleverly incorporated some of their other games without it being a direct copy and included some great features. There are various demons and spells that will slow you down unless you get to the source before the spell is cast. And before you remove the item before the dynamite make sure you have enough resources to remove the dynamite otherwise more delays and if playing on timed you need as few delays as possible. Normally I remove the dialogue but for me this is such a great story that I kept it in. Going by this devs past games I am sure this will keep me entertained and such a challenge and I love that I can switch modes just to try a harder level then switch back. There is a decent strategy guide here and my demo time seemed to run out so quickly that I just had to buy. If you love your TM games you will enjoy this but always try the demo first as we are not all the same and we all have different opinions, I , and others can only tell you how we individualy feel which is why demos are so important.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One of my favorites The game on Challenge mode gets difficult pretty quickly, but on relax mode, it's just a nice way to pass an hour or three. Great game. I'm very glad I purchased it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Thoroughly enjoyable! Once I figured out its mechanics, I thoroughly enjoyed this game! I pretty much played the main game in a single sitting (I'm on vacation right now!), because I was intrigued by the story and wanted to find out what happened next. I finished the bonus game the next day. Gameplay was very smooth, with no bugs or glitches. I liked the graphic style of the game as well, and the music was appropriate to the setting and atmosphere. Kudos to the developer for a really fun experience! More like this, please!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from OH MY! Review based on demo How I wish I could still play Time Management games, because this one looks wonderful. I was so intrigued that I started the demo without realizing it's not an adventure/HO game, but was drawn in anyway. First off, I love comic book style graphics. Bright, colorful, easy to see, reminds me of when I was a kid. There is no forced tutorial, and one has the option of viewing a load of hints plastered on the scenes, or hide hints to use as needed. Gotta say, even the graphic style of the hints is fun. Olivia has a dry sense of humor, which is great. The townie she volunteers to help her is one odd duck. Don't know if he's been drugged, hypnotized, over-"cultified", or is one of the bad guys in disguise. On the first day he's sort of stuck on one sentence that's an obvious clue and on day 2... well, you'll see. While digging around for info and cleaning up the messes all over town, Olivia runs into Vivian Wright, a delightful reporter. She's the one pictured on the preview video pane. I'd love to go on a shopping trip with her because her attitude is just right for a lark at the mall. Fun lady. You know what? I may just go ahead and buy this game and let it sit in my Game Manager to play only every now and then, though walking away from it may prove to be difficult. :D

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Different Kind of TM TM's are my new favorite game genre. This is really different. My demo time flew by. It has mechanics that I have never seen in a TM. It is definitely challenging but doable. I like puzzling out what everything does. I'm thrilled to have something new to the genre. The story is a little cheesy but I'm intrigued. The graphics are a little dark but very interesting. Please don't pay attention to the bad reviews because they can't figure it out, give the demo a try!
