Strange Investigations: Becoming is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 7.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Loved the game I bought the CE, and enjoyed playing the game. I don't play a lot of Hidden Object Games any more, because they consist of just a dark colour scheme. This one has colours. The story is the same old story - try finding something original, developers - but gameplay was fun. I especially liked the easy puzzles. I don't like most puzzles in HOGs, but these were fun to do.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Good Crime Mystery I loved this game for its more serious nature. The storyline was interesting, a much needed break from all the fantasies. I thought this whodunit was a bit different and, for me, it was entertaining from start to finish. It wasn't scary but the creep factor was present with a serial killer at large. It all started 15 years ago with the kidnapping of Dana's sister as a child. The disappearance of another girl has a familiar feel to it and Detective Dana is on the case. Childhood memories are taunting her as she searches for clues and gathers evidence. Could this be the culprit from the past? Or another serial killer with the same MO? This is a well paced game, busy with activities and tasks of the usual variety. There was a decent cast of characters, I especially liked Dana. Music was good. The HOPs and puzzles were of average challenge with just the right amount of puzzles. There was just a small variety of HOPs, not as creative as usual but I liked them. I really can't fairly determine the length of a game especially since I check out all the detail in every scene. The time will differ from player to player but I finished the CE in approx 6 hrs. I always feel the entertainment is mostly in the theme and adventure of the story rather than the bling, so without it the SE should still be very enjoyable. I think this new series shows promise of something more substantial to take us out of fairytale land, into a world more suited to adult players. For me it's been too much fantasy, for too long. I hope you enjoy the game as much as I did!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I'M KINDA DIGGING THIS NEW SERIES Completed Game approximately 4.0 hours (including completion of all mini-games & CE Bonus Chapter) 25 Main Game Scene Locations +11 Bonus Chapter Difficulty Range: Beginner-Intermediate Dana Strange became a detective for the sole purpose of solving her sister Ursala's unsolved kidnapping case when they were small children. Now, with the kidnapper finally behind bars, Dana can finally move on, or so she thought. Dana may be trying to move on, but sometimes the past has unfinished business! Helper/Gadget There are no Gadgets and no Helpers. There is a Bee that sits on the Hint Icon that apparently bothers a lot of people but it didn't bother me, I look at the game, not the Hint button and I barely noticed it. Morphing Objects/Collectibles: (CE version only) One feature I've come to expect in a CE game from this developer is Morphing Objects. This is a really good game but the CE bling is practically non-existent and there are no morphs, which is why I deducted a star! There are 12 Collectible Book Pages about Dana Strange and the usual 48 Jigsaw Puzzle Pieces that allow you to assemble four, 12 piece jigsaw puzzles. The puzzle pieces are nicely blended into the scenery and they have finally allowed you to return to the scenes to search for missing puzzle pieces and book pages within the Expedition Room! Video/Audio Quality: Elephant Games has always been one of my favorites when it comes to graphics, hands-down, and their story-telling abilities are phenomenal. I cut my teeth on Mystery Trackers: The Void and fell in love with HOPA games because of this developer! This is the first game in a long time that didn't freeze or unexpectedly, shut down or have a sticky music loop. Hidden Object Scenes: There are only 12 Hidden Object Scenes +6 in the CE Bonus Chapter, not including several smaller zoom zone hidden object scenes where you are tasked with finding 1 object at a time that matches the silhouetted shape (usually 5 objects) or smaller Listed Item finds. The objects are pretty easy to spot, but there were lots of HO variations which include Interactive List Finds, Silhouetted Shape Finds, Matching Pairs, Multiples of the Same Object Finds, and Swatches where you find areas on a bulletin board that matches tiny swatches. There are no alternative games available for non-HO lovers, unfortunately. Mini-Games: There are 15 Mini-Games +6 in the CE Bonus Chapter. I'm a fan of Elephant's mini-game puzzles, they are doable and rarely frustrating. Here are a few of my personal favorites: 1-Enter arrow directions to navigate a map, each intersection will use the next programmed movement. x3 2-Rotate the disc and snap interlocking pieces into place so all connectors align. 3-Swap tiles with wire sections until they all connect. 4-Repeat the sequence of musical notes. x 3 Bonus Chapter (Collector's Edition version only) Don't lose your head over this sequel of haunting proportions when a headless ghost is spotted in Denzel Freeman's shop. Is he being haunted or just bamboozled? This is an average-length Bonus Chapter spanning over 11 Scene Locations with 6 Mini-Games and 6 Hidden Object Scenes. You will search for the remaining 3 Collectible Book Pages and 12 Jigsaw Puzzle Pieces which allows you to complete the fourth and final 12-piece Jigsaw Puzzle. Collector's Edition Version Extra's 5 Wallpapers, 5 Music Soundtracks, 22 Achievements, 11 Replayable Mini-Games, 13 Replayable Hidden Object Scenes, a Secret Room to search for more Hidden Objects, an Expedition Room that allows you to return to the scenes to pick up any missed Jigsaw Puzzles or Book Pages, 48 Zoom Zone Jigsaw Puzzle Pieces to assemble Four, 12-piece Jigsaw Puzzles, 4 Main Chapters +Bonus Chapter, and a Built-In Strategy Guide. I've opened my own forum! You can see all of my Series' Lists at thewoodsforum.boards.net

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not sure what to make of this game I liked this game and bought it BUT one has to pay close attention to the story to understand what is going on . The game play is good, the cartoon action scenes are not well done, but the colors are good. The voice overs are not too bad and they are not intrusive, in fact you have to listen to them to understand the game play. The story takes leaps so paying attention is key. Like I stated in my title, not sure what to make of this game, not a typical HOG. I do suggest trying this game, it might be something you really like. It grew on me. SPOILER If you do NOT like bees this game is not for you.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Awesome! I agree with what someone else said about following the story. If someone can explain it to me, that would be great! lol.. I would have given 5 stars, but it was way too short.. It kept me interested, the story was right up my street, except for getting a little confused :) I really hope this continues as a series.. I'm old school, not a big fan of voice overs, but I think they were pretty good for a change.. big thumbs up!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Try It, You Might Like It, or So Much Backing and Forthing This game hearkens back to the excellence of earlier Elephant games, so why am I giving it only three stars? Because I am so over games where you find needed objects in ludicrous places where they would never be found in real life unless someone had deliberately put them there -- using the hammer that you found in the dustbin to smash a vase to get the heel of the shoe that matches a footprint, etc. etc. etc. Unfortunately, there is an abundance of that kind of thing in this game. Other than that, the story hook is intriguing, and I think you will want to find out more.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Im on the fence about this one The game started out good enough. As one reviewer mentioned it then went on to so much back and forthing i was forgetting where it was and what it was I was supposed to be doing. The storyline is intriguing and id like to see where they are going with it but the game ended rather abruptly and I was left thinking "that was it???" In that respect Im glad I held out for the SE of the game because I would have been pretty annoyed if it was the CE. Some people will like it, some wont. Personally am still on the fence about it
