Spellarium 8 is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 25.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Best Yet! I have the 7 previous Spellarium games and THIS one is by far, the most fun! Spellarium 5 through 7 had exploding bombs that were aggravating. All the tokens are new in 8 and colorful! The game itself is actually relaxing and challenging. I especially like that there's a mini-game after just a few of the match three scenes. There's a version of Mahjong, cards, and spot the difference mini games. Although there is no timer per say, after finishing a level, it lets you know how long it took. I try to attain my own "personal best" rather than worrying about a timer running out. Thank you Big Fish!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Love it...won't go into great lengths with a review other than to say like Lauraville Spellarium never disappoints and always puts out a great game for its series.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Yet Another Winner I have thoroughly enjoyed all of the Spellarium games. They are virtually an instant click to buy, but I do always check first. They are dependable fun, which I really appreciate these days, although I could do with a bit more challenge. The colors are always intense, and I like the mini-games. We've had so many "time management" and other games these last few months with the terrible events in Ukraine, that when a favorite pops up, I'm glad to purchanse.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this series and glad to see this latest one Excellent addition to this series. New objects, new colors, and new min game. Like the changes made to the game play. A quick buy for me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I'M DOING MY HAPPY DANCE AGAIN There are a few game series that you're always confident are purchase-worthy, no demo necessary, and Spellarium is one of them! I've never been disappointed with ANY game by this developer and I felt like this version was the most enjoyable to date, I'm doing my happy dance! You can play in a Relaxed Mode or a Limited Moves or Limited Time Mode, and you can Enable/Disable the Hint Feature. After each Match 3 level, you can play a Solitaire, Mahjong, Tetras Blocks mini-game, and of course, my personal favorite, Spot the Difference with differences that aren't as obvious as you'd expect. You can skip the mini-games, and now there is a feature that allows you to revisit the mini-games via a tab on the right side. The tutorial is pretty vague but you can click on the Book at the top of the screen to read everything you need to know, including tips & tricks. Spellarium is a Match 3 game where the only things that matter are Collecting the Coins and Collecting Colored Tiles, but those goals are tricky to obtain because there are so many variables. There are plenty of obstacles to make those goals really challenging to obtain, and more than likely, you'll have to replay many of the levels when playing with Limited Moves or Time...this ain't your granny's kind of Match 3 game! There are several types of Coins available: •Gold Coins: requires an adjacent match to collect. •Dirty Coins: require 2 adjacent matches. •Frozen Coins: requires activating torches. •Half Coins: requires joining 2 halves by making matches between. •Locked Coins: requires creating a path for the Key. •Coin Molds: requires guiding liquid gold to the mold to form a coin. There are several Obstacles preventing you from getting to the Coins, however, if they aren't blocking a coin there's no need to overcome some obstacles. Power-ups will destroy most obstacles as well: •Crates: requires an adjacent match to remove. •Shielded Crates: requires an adjacent match on the unshielded portion. •Ground Tiles: requires adjacent matches. •Clay Tiles: requires adjacent matches to remove. •Stone Tiles: requires 2 adjacent matches to remove. •Fog Covered Tiles: requires an adjacent match to remove the fog. •Ice Tiles: requires a match 3 of whichever tile is trapped in the ice. •Locked Coins: requires making matches to create a path in front of the key(s) •Vials: requires filling with purple drops by matching vertically. •Torches: melt ice by making adjacent matches to spread the flames. •Bugs & Bug Coins: chase away or make adjacent matches. •Red & Green Hot Stones: adjacent matches on Red & Green Cells will destroy the stones. •Stumps: requires specified amounts of matches of whichever tile icon is shown on the stump. Large Matches will earn Power-ups on the board, however, there are times when a Power-up can hurt rather than help (read the Tips & Tricks Book) Most power-ups can be moved or double-clicked to activate. •Rockets: selects a target in order of importance. (order shown in Tips & Tricks) •Bombs: explodes with an adjacent match (usually w/ a chain reaction) •Toggles: matches on the toggle switches opens inaccessible board sections. •Cannons: requires an adjacent match on the Red Cell to activate. •Permanent Bombs: usually sets off chain reactions with an adjacent match. Rated 5 out of 5 by from They never fail to please I. as do many others have all these games and each game they add a few touches just to keep us amused. In the previous game I happened to mention that it would be nice if you could return to mini games that you have skipped and play them at a more convenient time and they listened. This developer always listens and cares about what we think. So now there is a tab on the right about half way up which you can play all the mini games that you have skipped at your convenience. You can select any mini game and then scroll through the ones you have skipped. This is a brilliant feature. We have a new jigsaw type mini game which is a real challenge which you can return to at any time. As per usual the challenge is there and I am content on the relaxed mode but you can choose whatever mode suits you. It is really satisfying when you know a developer is listening unlike some who never change anything time after time. Try the demo and see what you think. these games are a challenge from the start with different things to tackle on each level.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfection, again, as always I have all of the games in this series. They never ever fail to please. Spellarium is brilliant. This developer always adds new elements that are terrific. I hit the "buy" button pretty quickly. If you are new to this series, read the detailed reviews and the excellent help feature in the game itself. I have fun trying to figure out the new features without reading the help book, but every now and then I have to peek and read a little bit. The mini games are always fun, too. I like the new one where you place tetris-like pieces. Games this good don't come around very often so it's always a little celebration for me when I see one of this quality.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I Can Always Rely On Spellarium For Quality And Challenge This is one of my favorite games! The challenge is superb, the features are perfect and the game modes are just right for how I like to play. I usually prefer Limited Moves but I like to switch around in Spellarium. I own all the games, never disappointed in the quality. Just a fine entertainment value! Similar to Lauruaville so if you love that one, this will be sure to please. A really fun Match 3 that also includes "building". I've never felt the desire to skip the mini games for any reason but I can see where many players will be happy with the Skip Feature. I like the little break between levels even if the games are simple and I love Spot the Difference. I rarely engage the tutorial but it has helped me out of a pinch with its tips on several occasions. For me I find the best solution is to just restart the level and figure it out on my own, which is more fun anyway! I love the challenging obstacles and the power-ups are marvelous at breaking through them. When using them, strategy comes in handy as sometimes they can damage your progress. Planning your moves carefully is necessary in collecting the coins if you want to avoid replays. I really appreciate this dev for all the thought and design that went into this game. Most Match 3s are so easy-breezy, this one requires concentration, strategy and even patience. I don't think most can just fly through this one. Even expert players enjoy the challenge but no matter your skill level, I believe you'll love this game. Just remember to focus on the coins, they are your incentive. So much fun! The graphics are excellent, nice bright colors, a little story and some building included, fun obstacles (I love the bugs), mini-games, ample power-ups. Great Match 3! If you've been on the fence about this one, give the demo a try. All you have to lose is 60 minutes!
