Boyle Wolfbane wanted to rule the world. He failed. Miserably. Forced into retirement early, Boyle now spends his days arguing with haunted trees and scaring off the occasional knight. At least he still has Fang, his loyal storm wolf. Things could be worse. He could have been born a hero. Features include a sophisticated battle and menu system. There are also many things to squash, burn, and collect. And... You. Will. Laugh. (Unless you are a zombie, in which case, we cannot help you.)

Aveyond 4: Shadow of the Mist is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 23.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Brilliant! I've played all the Aveyond games, and I absolutely loved this one! It made me laugh out loud many times - this is my absolute favourite, out of all of them. I have to admit, I got stuck several times from about halfway through, and had to resort to online searches. Plenty of challenge in there. I highly recommend this game. Funny, entertaining, challenging - what more could we want?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amusing, humourous, full of personality Boyle Wolfbane, retired villain, is s reluctant hero forced into a mission to save a kidnapped mist wraith. A role-playing game that includes lots of puzzles and hidden objects as well as plenty of good, old-fashioned monster bashing. This games offers great music, detail-filled, colourful backgrounds and well-realized novelistic characters. My main objection is that this game is quite difficult for the directionally challenged among us. I would dearly love to have maps! I also have to admit that I have gone online on several occasions to look for help and hints. I experienced some difficulty in getting the game to open up in full screen. I often found that I had to restart my computer to get it to open full-screen. I am about 15 hours in and have many more hours to go. Great value for money! *** Spoiler alert People who are familiar with other Aveyond games can look forward to special guest cameos from Galahad and Hercules. End of spoiler alert***

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best of the Aveyond games! I've played and enjoyed all of the Aveyond games but this has been my favorite. Although I just finished it, I'm playing it for a 3rd time and I NEVER play the same game over again right after I've finished it. I missed a few things and now I want to enjoy it even more by finding them. Boyle and his cohorts travel all over completing challenges to move them closer to their goal. The dialogue is actually funny and the challenges are easy to understand. The only drawback is there is no map. Once you're in an area you might wander around for a while trying to find your way back out. I ignored everyone's advice and bought the strategy guide when BigFish had games at half price. Not a good buy. I checked online when I was stuck and there are several forums that are helpful. If you like this type of game then you'll really enjoy Shadow of the Mist. Now I've got to get back to the game!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best of the best! I LOVE this game! I have played all of the Aveyond series and nothing compares to them. This one is by far the best of the series! I love the story line! It's funny! It's very original. I've never seen one of these Rpg's that you play as a "villain" even one looking for redemption. The levels are fairly easy to get without a ton of grinding. I've found a total of 8 level eggs so far to make that even easier. The monsters are visable and slow so it really is your choice on fighting them or not. Money is fairly easy to come by. All in all if you love Rpg games then you will not be disappointed in this! I knew I would buy it 5 minutes into my free trial. One of the best things about this game is that it is pretty easy to figure out what to do next and it's really not necessary to purchase a strategy guide. I hate those rpg games that are nothing but one puzzle after another that you have no choice to buy the guide in order to get through them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amaranth does it again. Recommendation: Replay Ahriman's Prophecy & Aveyond 1-3.4 over before playing this. It's not at all necessary & the stories aren't directly linked, but the continuity nods are much funnier if you know how the stories link. Pros: *Takes you on a comical fantasy adventure. *You'll end up with 6 playable characters in your party, so you can change & customize your play style. *The music has always been great in Aveyond games. *The background ambiance in each zone is soothing. *The zones have unique designs & labyrinthine layouts. *First time an Aveyond game never aggravated my Carpal Tunnel. *I didn't feel as lost in this game. A lot of RPGs with backtracking aren't concise with their directions. *I can feel & see all the improvements the development team has made throughout the series since I first played Ahriman's Prophecy in 2005. *The series lore. I love figuring out how the different Aveyond stories connect to eachother. while I was introduced to Aveyond & The Elder Scrolls the same exact year, I'd have to say the Aveyond games hold a bigger place in my heart. I hope this series goes on & on. *There's a fun story-within-a-story that takes place when most of your party is asleep. Cons: *The character designs stretch out unflatteringly at 1980x1020, like the way old TV shows do on modern TVs. *The Bigfish version has an annoying habit of always opening up in windowed mode almost every time. *Busybeak Hills, Divisive Thicket, & Mudsludge Swamp were all underutilized. *Boyle should have been in his 40s. Everything about him just screams "middle aged." *One of the playable characters was introduced too late in the game, near the end. *It was pointless giving one of the characters multiple potential love interests, due to how little these particular characters speak with eachother.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from a great addition to the Aveyond series As much as I enjoyed the previous Aveyond games, I have to say this one sets a new high. Its very thought through, with a good story line, humor and a hilarious misunderstood main character.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It worth every penny An interesting storyline, characters you will love, hilarious dialogues, good variety of "brand new" monsters, and an unusual longevity (after 20+ hours I'm not near the conclusion!): this is, in short, what I think of Av4. Should I add more? :-)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Charming and fun This is the fourth installment in the Aveyond series, and it is just as much fun as all the others. The characters are likable and the dialog is hilarious. The gameplay is fairly standard RPG, but is fun. The story is where the game really shines.
