Rated 5 out of 5 by from Haunted Legends Loved that game! The mini games were different than the usual, made your brain works a little, not too many H.O. Definitely my type of game. The end is missing a little more story. I was not ready for it yet and was surprised it ends so quickly but I really think it is a great game.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Monstrously addictive and loads of fun!! My Review after playing the entire game plus bonus since I did purchase the CE edition of this game. I absolutely loved playing this game! I normally do not buy the CE versions but I was having so much fun during the demo I just had to have the game! I enjoyed the game very much! I started playing the day I purchased and played nonstop until the game was over! I was having so much fun I just didn't want to stop playing, that has not happened for me in a long time! The flow of the game was wonderful, the visuals, scenes, graphics were top notch, the games were somewhat different and fun which is saying a lot because I normally skip most of them. There were some hidden object puzzles done in a very different way and then there were the regular interactive ones we've seen before. The music was pretty nice and fitting for the scenes. I love the different sounds the game makes when you pick things up or get things for your inventory. The storyline was consistent you knew what you were doing and why which is always a plus for me. There were a few moments that I got a good quick scare too! Saint Germain the Dwarf was oddly missing from this game.? I personally didn't miss him lol The game was not too easy it did have some challenges but it wasn't overly taxing it was hard enough to be fun, easy enough to bring relaxing enjoyment. I recommend this game.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I USED TO LOVE THIS SERIES BUT IT MAY BE TIME TO RETIRE HAUNTED LEGENDS. This is the 12th edition of the Haunted Legend series. I love this series as a whole but when I knew that the next Haunted Legends sequel was launching, I did not have high expectations. The last few games in this never-ending series were dull and uninspiring with the exception of The Cursed Gift which was prior to Monstrous Alchemy. The storyline is this edition is less than revolutionary, but it managed to grab my interests and I was engaged all the way through. The story development allows for moments of excitement as well as suspense, which is ideal for a horror-lite game like this. However, the game could have reduced the amount of dialogue readings and still remained effective. This game features stellar sights and sounds, as one would expect from this veteran developer. The scene designs are spectacularly-drawn and stunningly-painted, so are the special effects and the animations. The audio does not disappoint either; the background music provides great atmospheric support for the game and the majority of the voice-overs are on-point. Nonetheless, Haunted Legends: Monstrous Alchemy has large rooms for improvement. Most of all, the gameplay involves far too much hand-holding. This leads to easy gameplay and predictable paths of actions. Also, the objects in the hidden object scenes are far too large –I rarely resorted to the hint button in these scenes. While we appreciate the option to switch between Hard and Easy modes in most of the puzzles, the underlying concepts behind these puzzles are still quite simple. AMAX Interactive could try thinking outside-the-box and layering different styles of puzzles with their future releases. I also was disappointed that Saint Germaine does not appear in this edition, but if I remember from correctly he was killed in the Cursed Gift. My hope is that AMAX miraculously manages to reignite the fire in this age-old series. I also hope this trend continues if AMAX still decides that Haunted Legends is a keeper. While some editions of this series are better than others I decided to give this installment of Haunted Legends 5 stars because of the originality and concept of the entire series. Cheers! The entire collection so far: •Haunted Legends: The Queen of Spades •Haunted Legends: The Bronze Horseman •Haunted Legends: The Undertaker •Haunted Legends: The Curse of Vox •Haunted Legends: The Stone Guest •Haunted Legends: The Dark Wishes •Haunted Legends: The Secret of Life •Haunted Legends: The Iron Mask •Haunted Legends: Faulty Creatures •Haunted Legends: The Black Hawk •Haunted Legends: The Cursed Gift •Haunted Legends: Monstrous Alchemy

Rated 3 out of 5 by from booooo! Where is St. Germaine?? This series has been good. Graphics, HOS, mini games, etc. have all been enjoyable. This game was the same; however, my favorite part has been the dwarf. He doesn't show up in this one, and I am annoyed by that.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from This one kept me interested I have to say when I first started this game I thought it was going to be one of the typical search and find and run back and forth games but I was pleasantly surprised. Started out a little slow and never really sped up but play is consistent and doesn't bog you down. The HOs and mini games are well thought out and fun to play and challenge your mind. The only reason this received 3 stars rather than 4 is because of the graphics. They are dark and don't match the game play in that they should be brighter and with a little more detail. I may put this on my buy list but the graphics may stop that. I do recommend this one. I had a good time playing and I think you will too.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from ANOTHER GAME I COULD CARE LESS ABOUT FINISHING I made it to chapter 4 when it dawned on me that I was simply playing this game to be playing a game, blindly going through the mundane motions. I wasn't on the edge of my seat, the storyline wasn't holding my attention, and every task, every progression I made in the game was uneventful and predictable, I didn't even have to think about what I was doing, so what's the point of continuing? I will say that the CE Missions were a little more interesting than I originally thought. I wasn't impressed with the buying of outfits, but I did find the mission portion rather unique. If you don't like reading, it won't interest you, but basically, you read the sentence about the mission and choose the dialog box. The missions continue with a sentence and more choices (do you follow him, do you interact with him scenario) I failed the mission a couple of times and had to choose a different scenario. I liked the interactiveness, and I wish this was a feature offered as the main game, not just a small mission, but one where my choices actually have an effect on the game, which would make for great replayability (such as Bad Dream: Coma) Here's a recap of my review to help you decide which version, if either, is right for you: It's no secret that I'm not a fan of Amax (formerly ERS) because the relevance of their game series has diminished. The hand-drawn graphics and whitewashed appearance of their earlier games became dated, and the storylines repetitive. But things are improving with each game released by Amax lately. The crude graphics are being replaced with CG graphics, and it's apparent that Amax is going to great lengths to introduce different aspects and features, seeing what works and what doesn't, and isn't that what we want? Don't we want a developer to step outside the box? I'd much rather see a developer try something that doesn't work or isn't liked than to try nothing at all! That is exactly why some devs continue to spew out one identical game after the other, giving birth to the Cookie Cutter games we have today. Because they bother to try, I will bother to notice. The Collector's Edition version didn't float my boat so to speak, the Collectible Crystal Apples in itself aren't bad, but using them as currency to buy Costumes is just kind of stupid and worthless. I'd much rather see a Morphing Object in this genre, including Beyond skeletons or shadow creatures which seems more of a fit than a crystal apple doesn't it? As I said in my update above, the outfit feature is kind of lame but I was totally impressed with the "missions" The Hidden Object Scenes are far and few between, although some of the Mini Games qualify as HOP's such as finding symbols, and vice versus, some HOP's qualify as MG's. There are Keywords in Sentence finds, Multiples of the same items, (using a torch in a dark room) Finding Pairs of Related items, and standard List items. There are no alternative games available. I've always wondered why devs don't have HOP alternatives for Mini Games, and Mini Games as an alternative to HOP's. It seems to me that this is an easy fix, and would bring joy to fans of either MG's or HOP's......oh how I wish I could create one of these games lol! There are a ton of Mini Games available, and I found many to be creative, and enjoyable. I'm not a fan of games where moving 1 affects others, but thankfully, this feature is used sparingly this time. Below are brief descriptions of some of the games you'll encounter during the demo: 1) Guide tokens along a track to matching slot shapes. 2) Click when balls of various speed are in green zones. 3) Click tentacles to correct positions, 1 affects others. 4) Drag tokens so all elements are placed correctly. 5) Release all skeleton fingers, 1 affects others. 6) Select 1 token on each knight to recreate symbols on clue. 7) Navigate through the catacomb maze. 8) Bend sections on a wire to match the lock teeth. 9) Repeat the sequence of Musketeers shown. 10) Move the token through the path w/out touching the sides. 11) Use a magnet to locate Nails, magnet vibrates when near. 12) Select unbroken tiles in each scrolling column. 13) Swap bookbinders to recreate the image. 14) Place pins to match vertical & horizontal clues. 15) Find 4 matching symbols for each symbol shown. 16) Rotate or swap tokens to recreate each symbol shown. The Collector's Edition has 5 Wallpapers, 11 Concept Art pictures, 5 Screensavers, 4 Music Soundtracks, 27 Movie Videos, 12 re-playable Mini Games, 15 re-playable Hidden Object Scenes, 15 Achievements to earn, Collectible Crystal Apples to purchase 3 different costumes for 3 missions, 5 Chapters +Bonus Chapter and a built -in Strategy Guide. Rated 2 out of 5 by from Time to Bury this Series I purposely bought the SE of this game since I knew it would be a repeat of the other poorly crafted games from this developer. I have played all of the other Haunted Legends games, which is the only reason I purchased this one. St. Germaine took a vacation in this one. The puzzles were ridiculous. The tracing the object fad has got to go! The game was short and simplistic. Really, I think this series has run its course.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Yawn! Lacks anything new! I gave this a trial run then purchased the SE based on that, but sadly this game failed to impress me as I continued to play. I can only recommend it if you are a fan of the series or just need to fill time. Nothing in the game propelled me to want to really move forward with it, more let’s just get it over with and toss it in the garbage bin. The story is old and boring with lots of back and forth and sends you all over. A poor production in graphics, development, creativity and ingenuity! The game failed to offer any distinct differences or new innovation. However, it did have closure at the end which is a plus. Graphics are average, voice overs mostly alright except for Fontainebleau and Pascal they were horrible, hire better voice actors. Script was boring, dialogue passable but nothing interesting Multiple tasks that send you back and forth, some are interesting while others just…yawn! Mini games are horrid either annoying, repetitive or more than one part…old, tired repeats. I usually give them a try, but after a few I just skipped them….nothing new. At each encounter with Fontainebleau a match game appears, need to use strategy how many to select and in what order and it repeats! Hidden Object Games are dark and dreary and as a fan I didn’t really enjoy them. Some of them had objects in dark corners which is just lazy development and the undersea one was annoying the first time (timed) and seemed way too familiar in design
