Painting Journey is rated 3.8 out of 5 by 15.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from One of the best I only played this game in the "hardest" mode, where it only checks your solution at the end. The extra challenge is much more like the old pencil games, and I never had to guess. While the colors were often similar, the active color was glossy, while inactive colors were "grayed out". Some of the pictures were hard to see, even with the caption after completion, so this might have been better.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Finally: a challenging mosaic game! I've only played 18 minutes of the demo and am 100% sure I want to purchase it. I love mosaic games, but they are typically too easy for me, even on the most challenging settings. This one has the best of all worlds for everyone with three actually different levels of difficulty. The hardest one doesn't tell you when you've made a mistake: it only checks your answer when you've completed the puzzle. So if something's wrong you have to go figure out where it happened yourself. I love that it doesn't hold your hand in any way. However, it isn't timed, so you can relax and study your moves without feeling stressed out. The music is also very relaxing. However, for those that like the usual style of game-play that many other popular mosaic games have, they've got that too. There's something to cater to everyone's taste.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Brain Heat Level Is Nice Twist On Mosaics A lot of game for the money! Played for days to get through to the end. Brain Heat level is a novel tricky challenge for fans of the mosaics genre. That mode does not show mistakes. Shift around from color to color filling in what you can. Numbers are not crossed out until you've filled in the whole row - but that doesn't mean you got it right. Fill in all colors correctly and the picture will be revealed. There was one board (out of 100) where I had to guess and had to switch to a mode that revealed mistakes. Otherwise I played Brain Heat level start to finish. I didn't try the other modes, so I can't review on those. You do have to be careful dragging the cursor because boxes do not lock in like most mosaic games. Also, I did find myself scratching my head when I finished many of the boards because I still couldn't see the picture even after it was revealed. Definitely recommend Brain Heat mode!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this game I love this game and I'm playing on the hardest difficulty. I like the fact that when you nearly complete the picture, if I've made a mistake somewhere, (on the toughest difficulty there is no hand holding), I have to go back and delete the odd line and search for a misplaced dot to be able to finish. Lots of levels too, 100 I think and I'm nearly finished but will start again as it's so good. Please devs, can you make more of these? The puzzles are so much better than the extremely easy Fantasy Mosaics series. Off to continue playing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from AN INTERESTING NEW MULTI-COLOR MOSAIC GAME Painting Journey is an excellent new mosaics type game. It offers three modes of gameplay from Journey mode which is the classic style where your mistakes count; Tea Time mode where your mistakes do not count; and finally the Brain Heat mode that is more difficult and the tiles are not checked off as you solve the game. Although I really like this game, it is a learning experience as there is no tutorial and one has to experiment to find out how to use the different icons or power-up items that are earned as you play the game. There are a few faults in the game and the first is that when colors used in a grid are similar in tone they somehow seem to blend together, such as red being used in close proximity to a dark tan color which then makes it difficult to determine what color is being used. The next issue is with the Journey mode where numbers should be clicked off as they are completed. However, it doesn’t always work. For instance. if you have a list of 1-1, or 1-3 you have no idea when you have inserted the single 1 as it is not show as complete in either the grid or the list. I am not sure if this is intentional to add a bit more difficulty or perhaps a programming error in the game, but I do find it annoying. Another minor difference in Painting Journey and the traditional mosaic type puzzles is that rather than the number sequences being listed on the left side of the grid, the numbers are listed on the right. At first I found this a bit confusing but quickly became used to the new style. Aside from these minor issues, I like the game and it is a definite purchase for me. As always, please try the demo. Happy gaming!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from FLINTSTONES MEET THE JETSONS Kudos to the developers of this game. I knew this game was going to be different from the title alone, it's what you'd expect to happen when Fred and Wilma meet George, mind blown! The graphics are beautiful, the picture images are identifiable and labeled afterward, and the challenge is right in the sweet spot. I have just one tiny complaint...some of the puzzles have colors that are either too similar when used next to each other, like black and slate gray, or when they used a tan or white color which made it difficult to tell if the cells were filled in or not, but maybe it was just me? The genius devs added a feature that had me saying "duh, how come nobody thought of this before?" You can play in a normal picross difficulty mode with immediate solving in the Journey mode, a difficult Brain Heat variant mode where the numbers are only crossed off when the entire row/column has been completed OR the Tea Time mode where it doesn't matter if you make mistakes...this makes this game have a great replay value, play in relaxed mode when you want to chillax or play in hardcore when you're feeling unchallenged, congrats devs for a bright and original idea! I guess I have 2 complaints now that I think about it, there are bonuses available that recharge when you uncover gems on the grid as cells fill in, but I have no idea what most of them do. I usually don't use bonuses or power-ups because I like to solve the puzzle on my own, but because there were no explanations or instructions that I could find, I clicked on the green bottle or potion, and it filled in an entire row that I had chosen to use it on. There are 4 total, and maybe I just didn't find the description, but if there truly aren't, it would be nice to know. There are 100 levels and in my opinion, the challenge was great from the get-go and I loved the varying board sizes. The colors to choose between aren't bubbles, they look like a paint palette used in the town of Bedrock lol, happy griddling!

I wish all other Developers would include this option in their games...I like to play games to unwind and relax, not stress out about making mistakes...I am not an expert by any means at these types of games but love playing them...I love everything about Painting Journey..the colors, the scenery and even the strange music .....Now I can see me playing this game over and over again and if I want to choose the counting mistakes option at any time, I can...Thanks, Developers for this gem of a game, more like this please!!!!!!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Just like the old days of pencil, paper AND eraser!!! Pros: I loved this game! I played the demo in 'Brain Heat' mode, where the numbers are not crossed off automatically, and you can make mistakes, and have to figure out where they are on your own! When I first found 'picross' puzzles in my puzzle magazines, I sometimes went through the thin paper from erasing so much (lol); sometimes you had to start over to figure out where you went wrong! But that was the challenge, and for me, the fun! Also, so far in the demo, all puzzles I encountered were solvable with pure logic (no guessing involved). I hope that carries through in the full game. Cons: Would have been a 5 star rating, but I found it challenging to differentiate between colours on some levels. This will be a definite purchase for me. If you are a big fan of the penguin mosaics, you may not like this one, but I would always encourage you to try it (there are easier modes, which is another plus, but the option to try harder levels brings up this game's value IMHO). Happy gaming Fishies!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from FUN PICROSS-GRIDDLER I do love griddlers. The colors are vibrant and the music did not interrupt my playing. The game did seem too easy in my opinion, but perhaps it was because I was at the beginning and hopefully the puzzles get harder as you progress. I played each choice and even the hard was easy because they block off most of the puzzle that is not needed for that particular color. It is a fun game, and for newbies this is the perfect way to learn how to play and relax.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Fun game but colors were hard to see I love these kind of puzzles. This one was good from the aspect of the level of challenge of the game. The colors were a bit drab and sometimes difficult to differentiate one from another. The game did not have a story line, which is fine with me, however it didn't have that "fun factor" attached to it either. It's a pretty straightforward puzzle game that I think many would appreciate.
