Rated 5 out of 5 by from YOU ARE THE KINGMAKER REVIEW FROM COMPLETED GAME AND BONUS This is an extremely enjoyable game and I could have played many hours more. The main game is about your brother Randall Harding. There is: * Voiceovers (with dialogue); * Casual, Advanced, Expert and Custom modes; * Interactive map. The graphics are very good and each scene is clear and precise to find the items you need. Colours are muted with lots of greys and greens (no garish blues or purples). The music is orchestral medieval and lovely to listen to throughout the game. The hidden object games are straightforward, silhouette and find one item to use to find another, etc. These are easy to do because items are clear to see. Each HOP takes only a few minues to do. The mini-games are mainly very easy and it doesn't take long to get back to the game, which is good because I was enjoying the story. There are fighting scenes where you have to pass through all of the lines of complex grids. These start off easy but get harder as you progress through the game. The last one at the end of the main games took me ages. However, they are all very accomplishable. So, do you get the CE or SE? The bonus is about bringing Badrik to justice, there are 18 Achievements, 14 replayable mini-games and 14 replayable HOPs, finding 29 morphs in the main game and 11 morphs in the bonus. Either one you choose, you are in for a treat. All up the game and bonus took me about 5 hours. In all honesty I could have played 5 more. I loved the story line, the English accents were real and I felt part of the game, rather than just clicking my way through. This game definitely comes recommend and so worth putting in your collection. Happy playing fishies.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from KINGMAKER RISE TO THE THRONE - ONE OF THE BEST GAMES IN 2018 Kingmaker Rise to the Throne is from a developer that I haven’t previously seen and I must say that, at least for me, this game is excellent. There has been so much attention to detail put into this game beginning with a great storyline, voiceovers that are spot on, and graphics that go a step beyond what we normally find in HOPA games. The realism creates a game that engaged me right from the beginning scenes. Yes, it is still a HOPA game and although it does have a touch more adventure, we still will need to search HO scenes to find the items we need to progress in the game. The game seems a bit easy but I don’t always need a super challenge particularly when I play a game to relax. The beauty of this game is that I found myself involved in the action and felt like I was one of the Ulmer brothers trying to clear my name. The HO scenes are varied and generally excellent. I enjoyed the first interactive silhouette type scene where I needed to find items to repair a boat but all of the scenes that I have played were the same quality scenes. The mini-games are fun and started off with one where I needed to get flags to the appropriate spot in order to open a saddlebag. The mini-games are not difficult but they are entertaining. I have found that I enjoy a game much more when the puzzles are solvable and I don’t need to use the skip button simply because t don’t understand the instructions. Congratulations to the developer for creating such a wonderful game. I hope that we see more games from them in the future because I found Kingmaker Rise to the Throne to be one of the most engaging games I have played this year. As always, even though I happen to love this game, please try the demo. Happy gaming!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A MARVELOUS MEDIEVAL MYSTERY FROM ARTIFEX MUNDI & CORDELIA GAMES! A story of two (2) royal knights, Edmund and Randall Ulmer, who are tricked into a conspiracy against the crown. Pursued by the royal guard and ruthless conspirators, the brothers embark on a dangerous journey that will uncover the kingdom's shameful secrets, restore the honor of the Ulmer family and change their fate forever... Kingmaker Rise to the Throne is about two royal knights brothers who were falsely accused of killing the king. Randall was captured for various of reasons and has a hidden secret which Edmund will find out later as he is trying to sneak around in the town, and hide from the guards eyes. He will do everything in his power to save his brother and retake the throne. You'll learn the backstory about the king and what he did to his son years ago. I'm not going to spoil the story further because it is more fun to play it than read it in a review. Playing as a MALE PROTAGONIST is rare in this genre, I commend the developers for changing what gamers have been used to in the HOPA industry. The first thing I loved about this game is the art. The developers did a great job with the artwork and each location has a nice atmosphere which gives players the feeling of it being abandoned. The rain effect played out nicely too as well as the music which I was so happy to see included in the 'Extras' menu. The hidden objects scenes are well made and not recycled, you won't visit the same scene twice and the fun part they included are the three types of hidden objects scenes (Shadow, words, fragment). Puzzles were nice and easy to solve, however there is this 'fight puzzle' which requires you to connect the dots without crossing the same line twice, those are repetitive but some of them are quite difficult to solve without trying a couple of times. There is an achievement for solving it from first try! Voice actors did a great job too, I liked the authentic accent of the two brothers, especially Randall, but sometimes I mixed up the two brother's voices and didn't know who was talking since both of their voices are quite similar, thankfully the dialogue subtitle colors are different. I also enjoyed the addition of the game providing us with a fast traveling map, although there isn't a lot of a backtracking, I still like the ability of jumping from an area to another. What I dislike is the lack of journals entries because I like reading the story notes. There is no way you can check the past events or the scattered papers and clues you'll find around, all what you have is an objective 'tasks' journal. I chose to play the CE for the bonus game and the achievements. Like any CE game from this genre, you can collect extra items for achievements. This collectible however 'The king's symbol' will glow next to the hint button whenever you go to the scene and the 'collectible' is there for you to pick. There is a total of 29 of them in the main chapter and 11 in the bonus chapter. There are also extra tasks like petting all animals and feeding them. Those tasks give the game a replay value which I appreciate. I highly recommend this Artifex Mundi Premium Adventure game and collaborating with Cordelia was a brilliant idea on behalf of the developers. Cheers!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from An Okay Game Not much of a challenge but an enjoyable game. Too few puzzles, and none of them were difficult. Graphics and voiceovers were fine.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from STILL ENAMORED BY THE GRAPHICS We've been framed I tell Ye! This is the story that takes place after the King interfered with the union of his son and his wife, a commoner not born or Royal Blood and certainly not worthy of his beloved son. The King lost everything that fateful day, he lost his only son, he lost his heir, he lost the opportunity for his Royal lineage to continue as it had for centuries. But this isn't a story about the King, this is a story about a Kingslayer...or perhaps a Royal Cover-up, but mostly, this is a story about rising to the occasion and honor. This game has THE EXACT style of graphics I yearn for! Anyone can make a crystal blue sea on a tropical island look beautiful, but this dev has mastered the art of detail! I'm well aware of how hard it is to perfect graphics of this magnitude, especially when the time period has very few color contrast to work with. This is an area easily overlooked by most because we have become accustomed to large colorful graphics that don't really define anything, but our eye tells our brain, "look how beautiful those colors are" but try to count the stones on a building or look at the detail of the leaves on that tree...you can't, because they don't exist, until now! This is a 7 Chapter strong, amazing adventure to clear my name, and I love the story, I love the puzzles, I love the HOP's, and no gadgets! I have a tiny complaint with the CE version Morphing Royal Coin to collect. Its morph is fairly slow, but I wish the morph was slower and the Royal Coin was smaller to make it more challenging to find. Just a tad bit of tweaking perhaps on the sequel? The Hidden Object Scenes are centered around objects you'd expect to see in the Medieval time period. I knew I was going to enjoy these HOP's from the very first Interactive, Progressive, Silhouetted Shape puzzle, which made me think about what I needed to do in order to progress (this doesn't happen often, I can usually find all items without looking at the list, NOT because I'm so good at them but because they are usually so easy) There are also Interactive List finds, Silhouetted Shape finds and HOP's that require you find Fragments within a storybook. The Mini-Games are quite varied and I love that they are era true. I have enjoyed every puzzle thoroughly, even the repetitive "fight" games where you have to trace every line without retracing on 3 different and progressively difficult shapes. I love the puzzles that I have to strategize or think about, which is one of the reason's I enjoyed this game so much. Below are brief descriptions of some of the games you'll encounter during the demo: 1-Slide the symbol tokens to their matching slots. 2-Trace all lines between dots w/o crossing the same line twice. x3 3-Press pressure plates in the correct order, wrong order resets. 4-Place the portraits into matching slots, each picture pushes the others. The Collector's Edition version has 6 Wallpapers, 12 Concept Art pictures, 5 Music Soundtracks, 8 Movie Cutscenes, 14 re-playable Mini-Games, 11 re-playable Hidden Object Scenes, 18 Achievements to earn, 29 Morphing Royal Coins in the main scene and 11 in the BC, 7 Main Chapters +Bonus Chapter (Act of Deceipt) and a built-in Strategy Guide. Enjoy this amazing medieval plot against two Brothers!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Kind of disappointed I've pretty much given up doing BFG HOB games because most of them are so dark, often violent, same general plot (kill or capture the bad guy(s)). But they haven't had many Time Management-Strategy games all this year. From the sneak previews (not the demo, just the 3 windows they show you) I decided to buy this game because the rendering looked well done. They were, very very nice graphics. However, it was rather boring. The minigames weren't even very challenging, just got tedious doing the same puzzle over and over during the sword fights.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Trial: Felt Like Old Style Development Lack of consistency of light and dark within same scene. Details were way overdone making some objects just too busy and even a bit overwhelming, and I'm usually one to complain about lack of detail. Character voices seemed a bit too familiar as well. Mini game-old slider, sigh! I didn't finish the trial because it just didn't pull me into anything new or interesting. To be fair, I suggest you give it a trial run to see what you think.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Too short I bought this game and was really having fun playing it when all of a sudden it was over...this game is way too short and I felt cheated at the end.
