Kids of Hellas: Back to Olympus Collector's Edition is rated 3.8 out of 5 by 19.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fun game - not better than the others, but fun Like all the other reviewers, I'm a big fan of the 12 Labors of Hercules & Alicia Quatermain. They wanted to change up some things to make it a new game. The changes are, in my opinion, not an improvement. You always start out with one kid, and have to release the others - every level. I know most reviewers give their opinion after just playing the demo, but I'm starved for TM games & tend to buy them unless I absolutely hate it. FYI, studios, we don't keep buying Herc games because we want something different, lol. The bonus bar doesn't fill up over time, you have to build and go to the mana well to use them. This can fill them up faster if you have the time, but annoying as heck. Playing through all the way, I also experienced the fact that the cut scenes for the story are out of order. At one point the kids are talking about "so her sacrifice won't be in vain", and I'm like wut? The hints point out the bonuses that "the illusions" use - also confusing. But whatever, I just kept playing. After the story is over, there are still levels to play. Suddenly, I'm finding out who helped the children with their "sacrifice", and then are playing the levels with illusions that look like her instead of kids. Very distracting. I can still recommend it, but wait until the standard version, where hopefully they fix the story.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from THESE AREN'T YOUR ORDINARY CHILDREN Kids of Hellas is a new Time Management series brought to us from the creators of 12 Labours of Hercules, Alicia Quatermain and most recently, Archimedes. The graphics are really good, the game mechanics are fluent and the tasks require some strategy in order to beat the levels and earn all 3 Stars or Gold Status. There are 30 Achievement Trophies to earn and the music is pleasant although it is basically the same music that is offered in all of Jet Dogs TM games. There are 3 difficulty modes to choose from, Easy, Normal or Difficult and each level in this CE version has a hidden Puzzle Rune piece to find. I played the demo in the Normal mode and easily passed the levels with flying colors, therefore, I personally don't have a need for the Strategy Guide, and will wait patiently for the Standard Edition version. I don't want to pay twice as much money for this CE version just to get 6 Wallpapers, 50 Hidden Puzzle Pieces that unlock 5 Bonus Chapter levels and a Strategy Guide that I probably won't use. Other than the fact that I personally don't prefer these particular CE offerings, I think this is a really fun Time Management game. The game itself is worthy of 5 Stars, but this is just my personal preference and as others have already stated, the game itself is a fantastic TM game that I'm certain most will enjoy! Kids of Hellas is a cute light-hearted Greek Mythology based story that takes place after a spiteful curse was cast upon the children of Zeus. Seems Uncle Hades was the instigator behind the spell that dumped the Kids of Hellas to fend for themselves here on Earth. As if the spell itself wasn't bad enough, the kids quickly discover that Zeus has no recollection of them, but I have a feeling that all will end well for the kids, and Uncle Hades will feel the wrath of his brothers' thunderous fury when all is said and done...let's find out, Time Management style :) There are the usual Time Management tasks, collecting resources, repairing pit holes, cutting down trees, removing wood, repairing bridges and fixing various buildings to get a more consistent supply of food, wood, stone gold, mama wells etc. There are also unusual tasks, one in particular that I enjoyed, shaving the sheep for their Golden wool! As you progress you will receive Bonuses that will recharge by collecting Stars left behind on some of the tasks you complete. These are the usual tasks that speed up workers or quickly refill resources or allow the kids to store more resources in their backpacks. The Bonus Icons are located on the right side and usually have more than one type of resource available. You can click on the first Bonus that refills or wait for the second one to fill, it just depends on the level goals as to which one is more important, in other words, there may not be a need for faster workers if you don't have enough resources to assign a worker to a task that requires resources that aren't ready at the time. I realize I'm the odd man out with my opinion here, but I will definitely buy this game when it's released as a Standard Edition version :)

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Speed of Resources - Yikes I agree with the other reviewers on graphics and game play. You can queue up actions as well, which is almost always a must for me. The thing that ruined this one for me is the speed (or rather lack of speed) of the resources. It is incredibly SLOW and as another reviewer stated, you end up waiting forever for these to produce. Having to build and then run over to the Well to activate the bonuses was another annoyance. Either give them to us or don't. These last two items ruined what otherwise, would have been a fun game. Think I'll have to pass on this one. Might consider purchasing with a credit, but still not sure even then.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Based on Demo After playing the one hour trial, I saw no point in purchasing. It's just another entry in the 12 Labors of Hercules series; no better, no worse. Admittedly, the colors used were different, unsettling, and a little cartoonish. As stated by others, the game-play is quick and smooth. Had it been a standard game, perhaps, I would have spent a credit just for something new...but not as a Collector's Edition.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Looks like it was made for kids Let me start by saying how much I love the Hercules series. I have been a big fan and own them all. I love all the games that are based on gathering and beating the time, I don't buy anything else . I always try the game first and I must say after 3 levels I am bored, that never has happened with most of these style games. But this one seems like it was made for kids from ages 5 to 9. Everything is big and overly cute and not very pleasing in my opinion. I'd agree it seemed very slow paced and I felt like I was waiting for things instead of having to plan out a strategy. I was actually so bored I quit playing, this after I nearly jumped for joy seeing a new TM that I thought I'd like. So I am really bummed that this game turned out like this. I'm going to go try to force myself to finish my trial to see if it gets better... but the graphics really ruin this for me.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Recycling Past Sucesses This is a cute game and it's kind of fun. However, it seems to be a mishmash of past games. I see remnants of Hercules, Alicia Quartermaine, and even Victoria's Quest. The music is not original & some bits are from other games, the gameplay is the same as others, the story is hardly original. I also can't see why it's a Collector's Edition, except for some other levels. Might use a free game when it's a standard. Not worth the price of a Collector's Edition. Yes, the graphics are good, but so were all those other games. Might as well just go back to those.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Talk about SLOW! This is another Hercules story... except without the interesting characters and it's MUCH slower! It takes forever for the resource bars to fill up and you end up spending most of your time waiting for enough resources to make a next move. This is especially annoying when you make a mistake in using your resources, run out of something, and have to start over. Has only happened once so far, thank goodness. While well done, I can't agree that this is better than the original games. Get rid of the kids and let's go back to Herc and crew... and speed up those resources!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Same old linear collection game The reason for the single star is the nonsense trying to find a way to close the game. This is the same old, tired linear collection game. Can you people think of something new?

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Waste of Money Avoid this one! Talk about a stupid game! All tasks have such a high amount of different things you will mostly be sitting watching the time run out waiting for goods to be produced. Boring and no fun big waste of money! Most levels impossible to finish within time limits. I play games to have fun, not to be aggravated by a game with impossible odds. I do not want to have to play the same levels over and over to reach a time limit. There should be more than one way to win the game and enough supply of goods to meet the demand of goods for tasks in the game there is not. Sorry I wasted my money!
