Detective Investigations is rated 1.6 out of 5 by 22.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from AT BARE MINIMUM INVEST IN A TRANSLATOR SO THE PAGES & PAGES OF DIALOG MAKES SENSE! Detective Investigations is brought to us by the same developers who brought us a similar hidden object investigative series called Secret Investigations so obviously they didn't put a whole lot of thought into this game if they didn't bother to come up with a title that was noticeably different. You start out with a tutorial that explains most of the features, how you must "investigate" each scene by finding listed objects as quickly as possible. It forces you to use a Hint so it can show you how to use the hint in case you don't know how to click a hint button? It tells you that the quicker you find objects the higher the index bar raises to earn more points to help you achieve percentages of stars until you earn all 5 stars which will allow you to solve the case (and move on to the next crime) You can scan over a listed item to see a picture of the item (which takes several seconds to completely materalize) and one item in every scene is an inventory item that goes into your inventory bar and must be used interactively in the scene such as a palette which is used on a blank canvas to paint a picture. What the tutorial doesn't explain is that you can change the difficulty mode at the top of the screen between a Relaxed Mode which gives you 5 Hints per level, allows you to skip mini-games, and gives you double the rewards for completing the scene. Otherwise, you will be playing in an Expert Mode which only gives you one Hint per level (you can purchase 5 hints at a time for 20 Diamonds which are earned playing HO levels) the mini-games will cost diamonds to skip, and you receive normal rewards for completing the scenes. You are tasked with finding the same objects in the same scenes over and over as you search for clues to various crimes. As you find evidence, you must endure "analyzing" the evidence which basically means you watch a fingerprint scanner or similar device for about 30 seconds before playing a cheesy mini-game of brushing dust off of a paper or putting torn scraps of paper together. This isn't the painful part, the painful part is reading pages and pages of dialog as the detective tells you all her thoughts and shares the evidence findings with you, her new partner...oh, but if you have a sense of humor, this IS the interesting part as well folks, here are a few examples of the developer's translation fails: "I can see even without the forensic examination that the victim is wearing not his suit" "As you see there's car dump and our car repair shop nearby" "Everything was well. I think I can't help you" "Maybe it's my intuition, maybe the policeman flair but I feel that Mr. Cave hides something. "This motel wing is closed for a long time o and nobody lodges there." "I'll tell you the truth, yes I let the woman on a large SUV to lodge in the closed wing for cash" "But if you find somewhere its trace let me know so I'll compare the print with the tire" I stopped reading the dialog at this point, though admittedly, I was cracking up that a woman was "on" the SUV which was "on" the dump and the maid was making cash on the side by renting out rooms in the closed portion of a motel and no one seemed to notice...were they told to sneak out before daybreak...did they park their cars on the dump?

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not Sure Where to Begin... HO's are one of my favorite type of games, so I was ready to buy, but decided to try the demo first. WOW! The dialogue was so bad it was painful to read. Some of the dialogue didn't make sense, which detracted from the story line. Most of the objects were easy to find, but some were almost impossible to locate as they were a little out of focus. Try it for yourself.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bigfish games. Where are the good ones? I have been a Bigfish fan for a lot of years now, but I am finding it harder and harder to find games that I enjoy. Is there new management involved? If there is, something needs to be done. I look every day to check out the new games and I am becoming more and more disappointed in the choices. I like games that are fun, intelligent and challenging. Lately, there has been less of this.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from What is this? This game is SO BAD I cant believe BF would even offer it. What has happened to BF. Something has changed an not for the better. I had to give a rating but it deserves a Zero across the board.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from BORRRRing This is the most boring game I have ever played on here!! And after 15 years (plus) that is not a good thing!! Story line sucks, the game play is nonexistent, and the sound was very lethargic... I usually buy games anyway thinking it will probably get better, but no hope for this one in site

Rated 1 out of 5 by from This could hve been fun. I was SO disappointed. There was almost no game play. Most of your time is spent clicking through conversations or clues. You don't need these anyway because the game tells you what to do. The HOs are 6-8 objects that take a very short time to find. You eventually get all stars even if you are over time and in the end the game tells you who did it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Can it get any worse? I suppose it's always possible Well, where do I start? The first thing we are told is the detective wants to get to know you better later so you are on a promise from the word go. Then we get 2 scenes of being told where to go with no way of turning this off. The dialogue is so bad that it is the most fun part of this game. It is so easy and the way they put the clues together I am so glad that they are not local cops from where I live. Settings are virtually non existence, graphics bad, you go over the same hidden object scene finding very few items then you have to remove every single item from a trash can one by one until you find the hotel key which of course is the last item. The one thing That should have been in the trash can was this game. I found it confusing that her daughter was kidnapped in the same SUV and as far as I am aware she never got her back ? Unless that is revealed later in the game but I cannot endure any more of this. As I say the best part is the laughs caused by the bad dialect.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from So bad, investigate later, on the SUV I think something has happened to quality control in BFG. Badly translated dialogue is laughable but it is coupled to a game format older than most gamers. Seriously BFG? Not worth a free coupon.
