Nevertales: The Abomination is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 8.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from NEVER TALES NEVER FAILS Good length and story line.Great artwork and computer graphics. Very much enjoy the Never Tales sequences. Interesting spells and spell casting book routine. Spell casting is never anything one should attempt even in play. Always good to take a break from game playing. Come back refreshed and enjoy! Otherwise, games appear mundane when they're actually innovative and top quality. Good job, Developers!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best yet Nevertales has been a treat since the beginning getting better through the series which is really unusual. The variety of challenges, characters and graphics was so enjoyable with several delightful touches thrown in - hot fires where you must be really specific about what you need to achieve for instance (no spoiler there I hope). Please keep it up Mad Head.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A new story line with Imagination! This was a fantastic game to play. Superb graphics, music and game play. The voice overs were very well done. The mini games were challenging and new. The story line has a few twists which kept the flow of the story interesting. I always wanted to ride an elephant!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A BEAUTIFUL GAME AND ONE OF THE BEST IN THE NEVERTALES SERIES – WELL WORTH THE WAIT! It has been three years since the release of the last game in the Nevertales series and I think this one was worth waiting for. Nevertales The Abomination is a creative game and, at least for me, this one is far better than the last several in a series that had lost its direction and flair. The Abomination is the tale of a creator who has basically lost his muse and his direction. Will the creator be able to rise and save the world of Ballard and its four realms or will he eventually destroy all that he had created? The graphics and sound package for The Abomination are terrific. As we travel to the four realms we are treated to the beauty that was created by the Author and wonder how he would think of destroying it all. As usual we find all of the bells and whistles that come with a CE game and particularly the in-game Strategy Guide that did provide some helpful information when I was stuck. The Abomination is a great game with some beautiful and varied HOPS. My biggest issue with the HOPS is that again a developer is making the items we need to find almost invisible. This was very apparent with the first HOP when not only were the items almost transparent they were often very small. It is only my opinion because others might like the challenge of finding transparent items in a scene, but I believe there is a far better way to increase the difficulty factor than by resorting to a tactic that is sure to strain the eyes of many older gamers. The Abomination is yet another game that has far more puzzles than HOPS but since I did enjoy the puzzles in the game I’m not complaining. I found the puzzles to be mostly a bit easy but some were tricky to figure out. The game included some favorite puzzles such as the one where I needed to switch and rotate parts of a picture in order to see the correct image. Although creating potions and casting spells are not my favorite things to do in a game, I still enjoyed Nevertales The Abomination because of its beautiful graphics as well as the creative storyline. This is a game that is has a lot of tasks to complete and actions that kept me engaged as I moved through the story. I felt the pace of the game was right for me and that the mix of puzzles, HOPS and adventure kept me entertained and involved right from the beginning of the game. Although I feel that Nevertales The Abomination is an excellent game, please try the demo to see if it is one you will enjoy. Happy gaming!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nothing "abominable" about this game! Mad Head Games Developers are one of the most clever developers out there. I'm rating this game based on a finished SE version, and am giving it a 4-1/2 stars, even if some of the hidden objects were hard to decipher at times or when clicking on an object with the item needed to complete it would not succeed unless you clicked on the right spot. One of the spells was shape-shifting into a mermaid. My only suggestion is, and not just with this developer but with others as well, when there are underwater scenes, I prefer completing all the tasks required without getting in and out of the water a dozen times. I don't see the logic in it. However, I enjoyed this game immensely and commend these developers for a job well-done. The puzzles/mini-games were great and so were the hidden object scenes, except for some items that were too light to detect, but I stuck it out and didn't need to use the hint button, which by the way, was very good for transporting. The storyline was very intriguing. Completing all the tasks to make up all the spells was ingenious. Creating the potions were great. The tasks were not silly but quite intelligently thought-out. The graphics were wonderful, the music was great, the voiceovers were good. I liked the fact that most of the time I was able to use the items in the inventory fairly quickly. There were a couple of items that lingered now and then but all for a good reason. There was so much to do and the game was quite long for an SE version. I highly recommend it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from SAVE THE WORLDS There is a lot to do in this game. As the mage you gather different elements and make spells that you can use against the Abomination. The hidden objects are lists and interactive.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from The Collector's Edition Is Better The Abomination is an evil force threatening the very existence of the 4 Realms artistically created by the famous author, Michael Ballard. Each of the four realms represents the Arthurs successful novels, every detail, every aspect he envisioned, gave birth to and created these fantasy-worlds and its people page by page. When Michael Ballard's personal life begins to crumble, evil begins to take root within the realms as well. There's still hope for Michael, there's still hope that lies within a simple mage-in-training who must now embark on a journey to save 4 imaginary realms whose fate can be determined by a simple stroke of the Creator's pen! Yes, there is a gimmicky Gadget of Spell-Casting, however, it does NOT involve following recipes (other than finding specific ingredients for each spell the first time only to "learn" the spell) and it does NOT involve any repetitive Mini-Game prior to using a spell, so I'm totally okay with this scenario! During the Main Game (it isn't used during the CE BC) you will use the Portal Spell 6 times, the Object Levitation Spell 8 times, the Talk to Animals Spell 4 times, the Fire Resistant Spell 3 times, the Antidote Spell 3 times, the Open Door Spell 3 times, the Mermaid Shape-shifting Spell 1 time, and the Muse Shard Spell 1 time as well. Once you acquire the spell-book page and the 3-4 ingredients associated with each spell, that spell becomes available w/o any having to complete a step-by-step recipe game or a mini-game to activate, you simply choose the spell you want to use. Most of the 18 main Hidden Object Scenes are simple Listed Item Finds but the smaller Zoom Zone HOP's available vary with Silhouetted Shape Finds, Finding & Replacing Items, Keywords in Sentence Finds, Sketched Picture Finds and Swatch Picture Finds (items that match fabric samples) I actually prefer a no-frills, old-school Listed Item HOP so I was perfectly happy with these HOP's. The scenes are colorful and the graphics are crystal clear, even the objects themselves are recognizable and some items were well blended and not easily spotted. Some of the scene locations were excellent, such as finding items sketched into a grey-bricked wall, finding intricate shapes sketched on 3 different pieces of paper or items stuffed between branches in a beaver dam. In the CE version, each of the 18 main HOP's has a Morphing Object to find and they are quite challenging to spot because they blend well and morph slowly. The Mini-Games are fairly decent and vary in difficulty. There are 22 mini-games within the Main Game and I'm a little disappointed that none are offered for re-play within the CE version's Extra's menu because I really liked some of the more difficult ones. Below are brief descriptions of some of my favorite puzzles throughout the entire game: 1-Select elephant tusks to match the lengths shown on the clue. 2-Remove tiles between identical tiles that shift positions when a tile is removed. 3-Rotate and swap triangles so they share corners w/identical numbers of dots. 4-Jump gold balls until only one ball remains. 5-Use directional arrows to navigate in the dark. 6-Overlay segments strips so that every hole is filled with a gem. 7-Turn wheels and adjust arm segments to grab all circular knobs. LOVED IT! 8-Move tiles to adjacent empty slots until all gear tiles connect. In the Collector's Edition Bonus Chapter, you play as Jason Ballard, son of the Author Michael Ballard, who gets swept away to Tale World to fight an evil witch. Because you aren't playing as an Adept, you won't use any Spells within the BC. There are 10 Mini-Games and 4 Hidden Object Scenes within the BC and you will pick up the remaining 7 Mage Citadels, 7 Scene Morphing Objects and 4 Hidden Object Morphs. The Collector's Edition version has 12 Wallpapers, 9 Concept Art Pictures (w/before-after slider bars) 10 Music Soundtracks, 0 replayable Movie Video Cutscenes, 18 replayable Hidden Object Scenes (you can pick up missing HOP Morphs, improve accuracy and earn 3 stars as well as pick up missing HOP achievements) 29 Hidden Mage Citadel's (one per scene) 29 Morphing Objects (one per scene) 18 Hidden Object Scene Morphs, Character Bios (after completing the BC) Jigsaw Puzzle to assemble (after completing the BC) Pigeon Puzzle (after completing the BC) Ultimate HO (after completing Collectible Hunt) 11 Achievements to earn (6 of which are available in 3 parts) 5 Chapters +Bonus Chapter and a Built-in Strategy Guide. Rated 2 out of 5 by from One of the few Mad Head games I do not recommend! I'm a huge fan of Mad Head games 98% of their games are sensational. The first Nevertales game is one of the best games ever made, that being said this game is not even on the same level as that game! I purchased this game and I'm extremely sorry I did. I've tried playing this game over and over for at least 2 weeks and every time I do I leave the game angry and frustrated. I've now just finally decided to save myself any further aggravation and I deleted the game from my computer, half finished! I found the gameplay to be disjointed, with the goals being unclear and many of the areas you need to click on are in places you'd never ever expect. I was bored, frustrated and angry most of the time which is not how I want to feel when playing a game! I really, really disliked this game! I really miss the quality of the first couple of games in the series. No, sadly I do not recommend this game.
