Endless Fables: Shadow Within is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 5.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Review : Nice and not frightening, W-E,& 3. WE sale Big five for 4 main Reasons : good and interesting trial, great music, originality and Squirell I am not reviewing very much, I am a casual player and I hate (Don't like) scary games, so I put a review on this one because it Worth it. I bought the game right after the trial to have a fun time and I hope I will have. Love the train, love the story, love the cat (chartreux), love the characters. The music is truly good despite the brutal changes between the scenes. The story seems new and original. So, a great 5 and I recommend. Hope to have a nice time and you too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from THIS ENDLESS FABLES WAS WORTH THE WAIT Endless Fables Shadow Within is the fourth game in the series and, IMHO, is the best. Twenty years ago when your father was doing some archaeological research in Mittenwald your childhood friend Hans disappeared under mysterious circumstances. Now you receive a letter from his sister Agnes asking you to return to Mittenwald and help her search for Hans. The Endless Fables has not been one of my favorite series but Sunward Games has nailed it with this graphically beautiful game. Everything about the game is quality from the gorgeous graphics, voiceovers and well-told storyline. It didn’t take long before I was immersed in the game and had to buy it so I could continue. The game is a long with five chapters, a bonus chapter, and a fifty-six page Strategy Guide. If you choose the custom mode, when setting up the game, you will find that the times pre-set for hints and skips is better than most. The HOPS are excellent but most of them seem to be finding certain numbers of items but those items require some interaction to find and are not always easy to spot. There is variation with the style including storybook, find matching pairs, and even the list type that I prefer. The scenes are well-crafted and not always easy to complete without using the hint button. I’m not sure of the ratio between HOPS and Mini-games but it seems that they are fairly balanced as I didn’t notice being overwhelmed with Mini-games as I played. Although we can replay the Mini-games and HOPS in the Extras section, those features don’t open until the entire game including the Bonus games have been completed so I’m not sure without going page by page through the SG exactly how Mini-games are included. Even though I don’t know the exact number, I really enjoyed the ones I encountered as I made my way through the game. Some were a bit tricky but I was able to solve them without too much difficulty. The gameplay was excellent with lots of items to find as I made my way through the storyline. It was not always immediately apparent where some found item should be used and I seemed to cart some around with me for quite some time. Although there is some back and forth in the scenes I don’t see that as a bad thing. I happen to enjoy a game that is not strictly linear where I find something and then use it within a few minutes. Overall the game is excellent and one, that to my surprise, I enjoyed a lot. I haven’t always been a fan of the Endless Fables series but Shadow Within is an excellent game. Even though I find this game to be perfect for me and the way I enjoy playing, please try the demo to see if Endless Fables Shadow Within is a game you will enjoy as well. Happy gaming!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from ENJOYABLE As others have described the game, I will say that I enjoyed the Fluffs-- so cute. This game has everything you could want in a hidden object game.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Very beautiful and detail artwork I liked the story and the artwork but the game play was hard. It didn't flow. I seem to pick up things and have no idea what for. So you either lay heavy on the hints or you buy the CE for the guide. Either way the gameplay was off for me.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from DO THE FLUFFS DREAM? DO THEY HAVE SHADOG NIGHTMARES? Completed CE Game 4.5 hours (including CE Bonus Chapter & all mini-games) Once Upon A Time: The Children of Mittenwald rested peacefully with dreams of kittens, puppies, and unicorns because the Fluffs (bwahahaha) protected their dreams against the evil Shadogs who created horrifying nightmares. The Sandman rose to power (from what? was he nothing until he was something?) controlling the Shadogs to conquer the Dream Realm. To stop the children of Mittenwalds' recurring nightmares that ensued, a secret order was founded (why Mittenwald was the chosen town & the only town whose children suffered from recurring nightmares, I have no idea) by an alchemist who forged a Scepter and Hedron which defeated the Sandman, or so they thought. Little did they know, the Sandman was still very much in control... I'm a fan of most Sunward Games, but regretfully, I wasn't a big fan of this game. The story is similar to other "nightmare-related" games (which isn't necessarily a bad thing) but the third Chapter, which makes or breaks a game usually, was way too long and made the storyline confusing because it was all over the place, and most of it seemed to contradict previous discoveries. At the end of Chapter 3, I was rather lost in confusion (quite frankly, I became bored and my attention span began to drift) I couldn't figure out how to end the chapter as far as. "what do I do now" because I just wanted it to end, I clicked the Hint feature which kept telling me to do one specific thing, but no matter where I clicked with what I was supposed to place, it didn't do anything. I checked the Strategy Guide, read the steps, looked at the pictures, yep, said the same thing. Finally, I just went back and checked for a zoom zone that hadn't been closed, and sure enough, there was an item I had to place before the last step would work. I went back to the SG and reread it carefully, and this task is completely omitted, which is why the Hint wouldn't pick it up either! The Hidden Object Scenes started out with a good variety of styles but after the first 6 or 7, they were just Interactive Listed Item Finds within uninteresting scenes. There are only 11 HOP's (2 in the CE BC) and a few of those scenes were Repeated, a feature I've never been fond of because there's no challenge when you know where every item is located. Besides the Interactive Listed Item Finds, there are Multiples of the Same Object Finds, Interactive-Progressive Silhouetted Shape Finds, Pictured Item Finds, and a handful of smaller Zoom Zone HOP's available. The Mini-Games range from Easy to Medium difficulty, and this is definitely a puzzle-heavy game with 26 mini-games, and another 7 within the CE Bonus Chapter. Below are brief descriptions of some of the games I enjoyed, there aren't many because I did feel they fell a little short as far as creativity goes: 1-Match photos to their corresponding newspaper articles on a bulletin board. 2-Slide Tetris-shaped pieces to allow the blue L-shaped puzzle piece to fit into the slot at the bottom. ? 3-Rotate groups of 2 Triangle's to complete the image. ? ? The CE Bonus Chapter is an additional fable about the Fluffs (still can't take that seriously) when Something Wicked this Way Comes, and they are whisked away by a hoard of Wicked Wasps, Wow, Whata Weird Whatchamacallit! There are 7 Mini-Games, and 2 Hidden Object Scenes within this average-length chapter. You will pick up the remaining 7 Jigsaw Puzzle Pieces, and 2 Character Dolls as well. The Collector's Edition version has 18 Wallpapers, 13 Concept Art Pictures, 12 Music Soundtracks, 9 Cutscene Movie Video Cutscenes, 31 Re-playable Mini-Games, 10 Re-playable Hidden Object Scenes, 32 Achievements (18 story-based, 14 skill-based) 30 Hidden Jigsaw Puzzle Pieces (assembled automatically) 12 Wooden Character Dolls (3-Hans, 3-Agatha, 3-Pamela, 3-Sandman) 5 Main Chapters +Bonus Chapter and a Built-in Strategy Guide.
