Build-a-Lot: Big Dreams is rated 3.1 out of 5 by 21.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Will Always Enjoy BAL Games I love these games. They have a strategy element to them that so many time management games are missing. I have had it for a few weeks, play an hour a day and work on a level until I get three stars. I am not through the 50 levels yet. No, there is nothing new here compared to the other BAL games and I would like to see different houses as the opportunities are endless with these games as far as what they could do with making them feel different but still, I will always buy them and feel I get more than my money's worth.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A welcome return - but persevere if it seems difficult I was so glad to see Build a Lot back. At first I found this one too hard and the timer too short but then that is the fun of the game - you have to figure out the strategy. Which is different as you progress through the levels and gives it the challenge. The gnome is irritating but you only have to click on him once per level and then he does not reappear. Not sure if I will be able to manage getting the bonus challenge as well as the main goals but I find just going for the main goals satisfying enough. Really enjoying it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Strategy not clicking The entire Build-A-Lot series requires strategy. Not fast clicking. Not watching workers while they fetch & carry. Each game in the series has different features. I'm sure the developers were trying to add something to each game to make it more enjoyable. This B-A-L game features gnomes, optional goals, and a really fast timer. Not my favorite in the series but one I'll tackle in earnest. None of the B-A-L games have a 'relaxed' or 'un-timed' feature. That would make it a SIM game and not strategy. Re-playing levels is required because they often come up with a new goal near the end. And, the layouts change with each restart. Sometimes, a restart gives a better set up than the original. Anyone who doesn't like builder games won't like this one any more than the rest of the series and should stick with repetitive clicking games. Anyone genuinely interested in playing the B-A-L games can watch players on the video website and get the feel of the strategies involved. I recommend this game to anyone interested in using their brain instead of their fingers. I have the entire series including this one. Yes, they're challenging but fun.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from What's not to like? If you liked the previous Build-a-lot games you will like this one. The game runs smoothly and has a good level of challenge. The graphics are crisp and varied. I thought I would never see another Build-a-lot and well here it is. I am enjoying it thoroughly. Thanks guys!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Welcome Back Build-A-Lot! I always loved this series. I remember flying through the first 10-20 levels getting perfect scores with relative ease. This game seems harder to me (I can see how it would be difficult for a newbie). I vaguely remember the garden gnomes. Finding them should be pretty easy, but I somehow I missed a few. And the bonus goal makes the whole thing pretty tough - 3 stars, find the gnome AND finish the bonus goal BEFORE completing all the other goals. It sure beats the strategy games where you spend the whole game running around grabbing food, wood and money from the same buildings. Please try the demo before making a decision off the other reviews.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Give it a chance This game is similar to Build a lot world. The bonus challenge isn't always completed the first time you play the game. Some levels are meant to be played again. This series always a favorite. Developers: add to Build a Lot World! A Big Fan!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Welcome back Build-A-Lot! I'm a big fan of the BAL series and have wanted a new series game for some time. The great thing about this series is the game is challenging and you go back to replay levels that you couldn't get perfect on prior. Endless hours of entertainment as you try to get a perfect score. However, it is the same game with no bells and whistles other than a point system that now allows you to cash them in for extra money during in game building. I like that feature, but I am a little greedy for some more ingenuity. I loved the fairytale one, but I'll be honest, no matter the lack of new things, I will always buy a new BAL and I'm never dissapointed with them.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Oldie but goodie This build-a-lot game is similar to the previous, but I am still finding it enjoyable. This game is made more exciting by NOT having a relaxed mode. You need to strategise more to play before the timer runs out, and then there is the challenge of obtaining three stars for each level. There is also a garden gnome and a bonus challenge for each level which makes it harder still. I like that there is no penalty for each time the level is played. If you found the garden gnome the first time around, then you keep that, and the same for the three stars and bonus challenge. I cannot make a comment about the music as I usually play games with the sound off. I dislike talking heads during a game but they do not appear too often and disappear as soon as I click on them. Play the free hour and make up your own mind. I bought the game after half an hour of play.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A challenge I've always enjoyed the Build-A-Lot games. The add-ons over the series have always made sense and I like that they continue to be present in new releases. This game is the hardest I've played of the series. No easy 3-stars here. And, I find I have to replay to achieve the Bonus goals. My only complaint -- I've played Level 16 four times and still don't see the gnome. I think it's missing. I had my son stand behind me and scan the screen while I played and he didn't see it either. If you're new to TM games or even to the BAL series, I would suggest starting with one of their other games before tackling this one.
