Huntress: The Cursed Village is rated 3.3 out of 5 by 8.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from HUNTRESS: THE CURSED VILLAGE IS HUGE FUN!! I wasn't sure I'd like this game when I read the former review, but it isn't any worse than all other games, as far as the initial instructions are concerned. I sometimes get lost in the instructions, but these are very simple and are only initially needed to play the game. The game itself is lots and lots of fun. There is a good story line, too. I like to have a reason for what I am doing. The graphics are very, very nice and the gameplay is fun. Please give it a try...the instructions only cover 3 weapons you are given to combat the enemies which are like ghosts and bats, etc, Huge fun!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from For those that like battle in match three. I like this game, I agree with another it is more like puzzle quest. If you want great detail then I recommend reading pennmom36's,she always does a great job of the details in a review. In fact I found most of the reviews for this game helpful. As I do the developers description.Malware did not interfere with the game as some others anti virus programs for others did. But it does require the framework. It has a decent story and as with all stories in type you have to read, but I personally did not find it to much reading. I love battle in match three and in spell games and this one was well done in my opinion. So it will be a buy for me.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from BATTLE MODE MATCH 3 Yes, my anti-virus blocked this program. No, I'm not worried because Big Fish has never allowed anything nefarious to slip through the cracks and it's usually because the program has a name that is similar to a known naughty program and not because it's actually in disguise ??! Don't let all that hype scare you, this developer worked hard to create a unique Match 3 game that's actually quite fun...but it does take a little while to catch on to the game mechanics. You can play in a Relaxed Mode (and I do recommend switching back and forth between modes on some of the various "houses") you can also enable a custom cursor, otherwise, you will automatically get the system cursor. Each House you enter has a different type of entity to battle, and each battle or level requires you to destroy a specified number of those entities, naturally, the number increases with each level. There are 3 different Power-ups or "Spells" available and they can be used and should be used as soon as they recharge by making matches of various stones. *Magic Arrow: destroys a single stone of your choice. *Fire Bird: destroys an entire row of your choice. *Arrow Rain: shoots several arrows onto the field to destroy random targets. THORN QUEEN HOUSE You will battle the Thorn Queen who throws spores onto the playing field. The spores will become ranks that can't be matched after a few moves if the spores aren't destroyed, and it will keep tiles from falling. You can match the spores, use spells, or special stones. VAMPYR HOUSE You must drive away the bats in this house by making adjacent matches, the bats themselves can also be moved. This is one of the easiest of battles. WRAITH HOUSE This is the haunted house that throws ghosts onto the playing field. Ghosts can be banished with spells or special stones and they can be swapped like a stone, but these little guys can multiply like rabbits and you have to make sure you explode the bombs as close to them as possible! SWAMP TREE This house has a tree that throws spores onto the playing field that glue stones after a few moves if not destroyed. Glued stones can be freed by adjacent matches and spores can also be matched. SORCERER This is a battle where you take turns. The sorcerer curses the fields and on his turn, the sorcerer throws all known enemies on the playing field. Keep in mind that a Match 4 will create a Bomb Stone that must then be included in a match with whichever colored stone the Bomb created to explode adjacent stones. A Match 5 or larger will create a Chain Stone of various strengths to destroy columns and or rows, depending on how large the match was that you made. When you combine the special stones they can create one heck of an explosion. Now I know I usually don't like M3 games that are all about the explosions that play the game for you but this game is so unusual...it absolutely doesn't play the game for you when you are using the spells or power-ups, sometimes it's the only way to unblock those curses! If all else fails and you are having difficulty defeating a cursed house, switch to the Relaxed mode, it's still a blast!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It's Puzzle Quest lite---not typical match 3 This game isn't a normal match i.e. Jewel Match. It's more of a Puzzle Hero game where you're making matches in battles with different spookies. You build up spells to use in battle and at the same time are using various power ups to keep the playing area cleared of different weaponry the enemy is sending your way. The majority of reading is in the first 3 or 4 minutes as a tutorial then you settle into the fighting. This really is a cute game, the likes of which like I said closely resembles Puzzle Hero from many years ago or Puzzle Quest. Try it!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Kapow kablooee!! Bang, Bang! I cant let my own personal taste detract from the quality of this offering. If you love a total kapow and explosion battle game, this one will delight you! Its fast paced and you will feel your adenaline rise as you play battles against various foes and bad news spells taking over your board. The tiles are bright and clear and the graphics are quite intricate. I did get a download prompt for a microsoft framework 4.0 to play the game, but that all installed without problem (other than a bit of a wait for it to do it). This is not my style of game, but I do know if you like a good battle on your board this will please. There is a help book and though i didnt play in relaxed I never seemed to struck a time limit, and it says you only lose a battle when you have no matches or bonuses left or your screen is overtaken? So not sure about that I'm afraid. I always won even though I had no idea what I was doing a lot of the time lol. You will clear bats, blow up spores that the queen throws at you in battle and they get thicker and harder to get rid of if you delay. Mostly I seemed to be trying to make large matches to create bombs and then blow them up with the three bonus spells was first given. One that clears a whole line of enemy, one that reigns down arrows (thus you can set your bombs off) and a single tile arrow. They charge incredibly quickly so you are hardly ever left without a weapon of some sort. And matching some tiles also gets rid of them..but if they get totally covered you cant see the colour! That's when you need your bonuses or a photographic memory! Try the demo. Its not for me but it seems a really good game with quick play for battle and explosion fans. Cheers

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not my cup of tea Normally I love match 3's but this one just didn't click. It has so many barriers to clearing the board, and you get lots of helps but I just did not enjoy the game play at all. Give it a try, you might like it but you're not alone if you don't.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Beware this game! In spite of only one other review that gave this game one star and negative comments, I decided to give it a try anyway. While installing the game, I was prompted to approve the installation of "Microsoft XNA Framework," which is required to run the game. First red flag--this is a very old set of libraries/protocols developed years ago to help game devs. But I did, and then started the game. After I entered my player name, and play was about to begin, my security program blocked the game with the notice that it was trying to access protected folders. I immediately shut it down and uninstalled. I do NOT recommend this game! I'm only hoping that by uninstalling it I managed to remove everything that was installed.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from This is not a good game to me Way too much reading and not enough playing. There are way too many rules in this game for me. I like a challenge but this is not fun to play.
