Fantasy Mosaics 43: Haunted Forest is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 6.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from If it ain't broke, don't fix it One of my favorite games, and the only one I buy without playing the demo first. Yes, if you've played any of the other games in this series, you won't have any surprises here. But that's exactly why I buy these games -- because I know exactly what I'm going to get, and it's fun, relaxing, pretty, and definitely worth my time and money. I dread the day they add one more color and make it a Collector's Edition. Just ... don't tamper with the formula. It works, and that's enough.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best one yet! The new extra puzzles are getting better with each new edition of the series. They are different and fun. The pictures you create are getting more and more detailed too and are also getting a bit more challenging. Love this series.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not as good as others This is promoted as a Halloween game, but most of the levels do not have any connection to Halloween. There are many repeat levels from other Fantasy Mosaic games.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from THE GAME DOESN'T EVEN SAVE YOUR PROGRESS MIDWAY AFTER 43 GAMES RUNNING! First, there was one and that was really fun. Then they kept coming, they hit the ground running. By the time they hit twenty, I thought surely that's plenty, but along came game thirty and the list grew quite wordy. Now here we are six years later on a spooky Halloween indeed, but is there really a need for forty-three? For a while, they were surprising us with an occasional new feature but now we are getting a Fantasy Mosaic game every 2 months and they are all the same now, so there's just no need to play another one. I may as well go back to the beginning, with 42 games to play, it would be like playing a brand new game! I still love the genre, in fact, I recently played Detective Agency Mosaic and that game blew me off of my computer chair, so from now on, all other Mosaic games will have to meet the standard of that game...this one certainly doesn't come close! At least that game has an interesting story...Match Gems needs to come up with something more creative than the current, weak Penguin Family sagas, and ridiculous peek-a-boo rooms..the whole penguin family discovers aliens, a portal in the woods, time travels, etc. is getting kind of lame and it isn't really a story?? The only new features that have been added over the past 42 games, besides upgrading the color graphics, is a multi-color feature (added in game # 4) a Sun power-up (added on game #6) the addition of earning/deducting stars for using hints (on game # 15) two additional color bubbles offering 6 colors vs 4 (on game # 16) an Eye feature to view the background w/out the grid (on game # 18) an interactive garden feature (on game # 21) locked colors (on game # 27) different tile choices (on game # 28) an interactive workshop w/ mini-games (on game # 33) and Zen mode (on game # 34) The Zen Mode has returned for those who prefer to solve the griddlers without all the hand/flipper holding. In Zen Mode, the numbers aren't crossed off but Mistakes aren't counted against you either, because chances are, you'll have to edit some of the cells as you switch between colors. You can delete filled-in or crossed-off cells by right-clicking the cell in Zen Mode, and you'll know you have completed a particular color correctly because a checkmark will appear on the color bubble. You can play in a Casual Mode which crosses off the cells one by one, or the Advanced Mode, which only crosses off the remaining cells once the entire row and column have been filled in. You will earn a Gold trophy if you make no mistakes, a Silver trophy if you make one mistake, and a Bronze trophy if you make two mistakes. You will also earn up to three gold Stars if you don't use any hints, one star is deducted each time you use a hint. Therefore, it is possible to make a mistake or two but still earn 3 stars as long as you don't use any available hints. There are 20 locations, and each location has 5 Griddlers and an additional mini-game. You can choose from 7 different tile sets, ranging in color vibrancy, and styles. Locked Colors can be disabled in the Settings menu, otherwise, some of the colors are locked and unavailable until you uncover color-specific keys that are hidden beneath some of the filled-in cells The Eye feature allows you to hide the grid to get a look at the puzzle without all the grid lines, and there is a reset icon that makes it much easier to restart the level if you make a mistake. There are groups of numbers located on each column and row of the grid, each group of numbers must be separated by at least one blank or crossed off cell. Sometimes it's easier to cross-off cells that can't possibly contain a filled-in cell, which will reduce the number of cells and narrow the playing field down a bit, when you get stuck, you can switch colors and work back and forth until it's solved. Some of the cells contain bonuses such as extra hints, extra mistakes allowed, or an extra pickax which allows you to choose which cell you want a hint on, and some cells contain keys to unlock colors (unless you disable this feature in settings) There is a Sun icon as well that when fully charged, will give you a mega-hint, filling in or crossing off a 3x3 area of your choice. Rated 3 out of 5 by from Change it up and I will buy it. This has been a tried and true series. The graphics are great and layouts clear and colorful. For me they have gotten boring. I would love some more difficult grid layouts up to 40 x 60 cells. I would love to see some great big layouts like the Gizmos. Just sayin.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from A spooky path for the Penguins? This game is as spooky and Halloween themed as the small dog, cute bunnies, and toothless vampire pictures you create in the first few levels. After 42 games in the series, I think the graphics took a step back, even after trying the various tile styles. There is nothing new, nor is there still much of a storyline. I would also like to see the dev add some grids larger than the 20 x 20, even if it's found at the end of a level, to give some challenge and something new to the 43rd game. I usually try the demo and read other reviews to see if there is anything about the game that would make me think about buying the game. I would still recommend this game for those who love the series and relaxing mosaic/ nonogram puzzle games. I haven't bought a game from this series in quite a while, and I unfortunately won't be buying this one either.
