Christmas Stories: The Christmas Tree Forest Collector's Edition is rated 3.5 out of 5 by 45.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from ANOTHER BREATHTAKING AND WONDERFUL CHRISTMAS STORIES GAME In 2012 I played the first Christmas Stories game – Nutcracker, and since that time it has been my tradition to add each yearly release of Christmas Stories to my collection. I absolutely love the Christmas Stories game and this year’s release The Christmas Tree Forest is no exception. I enjoyed the game from the very first scene until the game ended and I can say that this one will be right on par with my favorite of the series Nutcracker. I loved everything about this game beginning with a beautiful storyline as Inga began her search for her mother who disappeared the previous year. I’m not going to go into a lot of detail about the game because many of you have already played it but if you have not yet tried one of this developer’s Christmas Stories games, I think that The Christmas Tree Forest will be a great game for you to try. Perhaps you will love these games as much as I do. Happy Gaming!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ahhh, The Magic Of Christmas! May it always remain magical for the kid in us! This is really a beautiful journey with lots to see and do. The scenes are gorgeous although I think less of the color blue would be nice. I was drawn to this game because of the girl looking for her mother and I was especially interested when I found it included cats. Its a perfect story for me to get lost in with all the Christmas scenery, decorations, songs and games, and the kitties. A few years ago I bought and played to death the PussNBoots Christmas which was great fun, so I am eager to get into the Bonus Chapter. And a bonus here (for me) is the absence of horrid demons and evil beings that are so abundant in our other games. I can deal with a misguided sorceress in this story. The collectibles package seems to be ample enough and I always love the Secret Room. The HOP scenes are all Christmasy as well as the games, each one I have played so far has been very enjoyable. There is a nice variety of both, the challenge seems about average and I didn't find any of the puzzles undo-able. I was so happy to find that there was not a crazy amount of puzzles, too many and I end up skipping a lot. Definitely will be able to enjoy these without becoming bored or impatient. The graphics are very colorful and clear. The devs did a great job creating the magical scenes, wintery atmosphere and all the Christmas "little things" we ooh and ahh about that make the game a beautiful holiday escape. I expected the cats to be non-realistic but I thought the characters could have been done better. But the beauty is still there. There were no tech issues to spoil the fun. The pace of the game was good and there were plenty of fun tasks to keep it busy. I'm sure this will be along game, for me, as I can't resist stopping to look at every little thing in sight. With the choice of game modes everybody can enjoy this holiday offering. Also, great entertainment for the whole family, including cat lovers. I own just a few Christmas themed games, so this will be a nice addition to my collection. The demo contained a fine sampling of what to expect, so purchasing was an easy choice. I hope you find some Holiday Cheer in the demo, too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent addition to this series I really liked this newest addition to this series. I have the previous eight and was happy to see this one. The CE was worth the price, lots of extras, and the storyline is really good. Great colors, tasks, and some surprises along the way. Even with the mean goblins.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Collectible Zoom Picture in the guide should be Larger I liked everything except a few gripes. The secret room has 61 morphs. Some are so transparent that I couldn't see them even after using the hint and waited and watched at the location that was shown. This really hurt my enjoyment of the secret room. Especially at the fireplace. The magic garden and the court yard would make great wallpapers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Another Charming Christmas Tale! I look forward to the various Christmas themed Hidden Object games this time of year. I even go back and replay some of my old ones. Nothing gets me in the mood like these Elephant games. The vibrant colors, the Christmas music softly playing in the background of each scene. The snow falling, various scenes of Christmas trees and other decorations. It's always fun. Yes, most of these games play the same way. I actually look forward to that. Yes, I knew right away who the villain of the piece was going to be. And yes, Santa Claus eventually turned up too. But if you're like me, that's what you're looking for. The visuals, sound, and colors are what you expect, great as always. The gameplay was pretty standard too. Nothing new that jumped out at me. However, full disclosure, I play these games on casual mode now just to enjoy them and the story and the atmosphere. I'm not looking for mind-bending puzzles or a complex plot. Next year, if I need to save Santa again from another wicked witch, I'm game. These are just fun and help me get into the spirit of the season, and working in retail, that's a bonus for me. If you've enjoyed the past Christmas games by Elephant, you'll like this one. The bonus chapter is a lot of fun too, and sort of continues the story, (in an sideways kind of way). Morphing objects to find as well as collectables add to the fun.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from SINGING THE PRAISES OF ANOTHER FANTASTIC HOLIDAY GAME IN THIS SERIES REVIEW BASED UPON THE ENTIRE GAME 4 Chapters Plus a Bonus Chapter – Strategy Guide: 35 pages (My Time: 7 Hours plus one hour singing Christmas carols) STORY: Enjoy a festive, fun-filled adventure into the Christmas forest as you play Inga, a young girl in search of her mother who has disappeared. A misguided, evil sorceress is behind her disappearance. A magical snow globe will allow your mother to communicate with you and lead you to her location. In your journey you will face trials and difficulties. However, you will get some help from Winter and Grandfather Christmas as you try to not only find your mother but save Christmas and this misguided sorceress as well. OPINION: Grab a hot cup of cocoa, some Christmas cookies, and enjoy another fantastic seasonal game from Elephant Games. This year’s offering is decked out for Christmas with glistening lights, Christmas trees chock full of glitter and ornaments, garland, and sweets of all kind. I love the Christmas games from this developer and this one is no exception. Playing it got me into the Christmas spirit. I enjoyed the musical background, which is Christmas-like. However, I wish the developer had used traditional Christmas carols as they did in the past. I loved to sing along with those background songs. Nevertheless, it is a fun game full of Christmas spirit with a message of redemption. The grinchy, green goblins which pop up periodically, provide a sprinkling of comic relief throughout the game. The graphics are incredibly beautiful. Baked into this game are some incredibly beautiful scenes. There are three collectibles - morphing presents, puzzle pieces, and characters from the game. I found some of the puzzle pieces difficult to locate. I also found some of the morphing presents difficult to locate as well. Many are cleverly hidden within a pile of other presents in some of the scenes. However, I found the characters easy as mincemeat pie to locate. I always enjoy the secret rooms at the end of the games. Searching the scenes for additional items is fun but can be vexing. Some are well-hidden. MECHANICS: • Four (4) levels of play including a customized version. • 22 achievements. • Collect 26 morphing presents, 48 puzzle pieces for 4 jigsaw puzzles, and 12 mascots • 12 wallpapers along with concept art, music, and video sequences • Replay 13 mini-games and 13 HOP scenes • Secret Room. At the end of the game enter the secret room to revisit scenes from the game to search for more items. BONUS CHAPTER: It is a sequel. Welcome to a Catstown Christmas! Poor little kittens are receiving fake presents instead of real ones. You, as a white cat in shining armor, are to the rescue! There is a misguided creature behind the hidden presents. Can you locate him and help recover his Christmas spirit? I loved this chapter. The big-eyed cats in the chapter are beyond adorable. The graphics are in keeping with the Christmas theme. The chapter is a nice length and is another story of redemption of a misguided spirit. There are seven (7) HOP scenes and six (6) mini-games. To me, it was well-worth the price of a collector’s edition. HOP SCENES: Most are creatively designed with a Christmas motif. There are nineteen (19) HOP scenes, thirteen (13) of which can be replayed at the end of the game. There is a variety of types of scenes including silhouette, matching, storybook, and lists of items. There are also some mini-HOP scenes which involve searching for six or seven items. My favorite scene was a scene using sliders to move glass shards into position on a window. MINI-GAMES: There are twenty-one (21) mini-games, thirteen (13) of which can be replayed at the end of the game. They vary in difficulty from extremely easy to some which I found moderately difficult. However, for the most part, the puzzles are on the easier side making this game a great one for the whole family. SPOILERS: HERE ARE SOME OF THE CHRISTMAS MINI-GAMES AFTER THE DEMO: A. “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” Maze puzzle. Move through a forest of Christmas trees by using yarn. Locate the symbols in the scene and click on them. Then, rotate the ball of yarn until it shows you the direction in which to move. 3X B. “I’m Gonna Lasso Santa Claus” Rope puzzle. Untangle a rope so that parts of the rope do not cross each other. C. “It’ Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas” Picture puzzle. Rotate and place glass shards within a stained-glass window to create a picture D. “Nutcracker Waltz of the Snowflakes” Matching puzzle. Match up snowflakes to remove them. The snowflakes are only partial flakes. Click on them to see the complete snowflake. E. “Unlock the Holiday Magic” Logic puzzle. Set parts on a key by moving them up and down until they fit a lock. If the segment is correctly placed, it will turn green. BONUS CHAPTER: F. “Shake Hands with Santa Claus” Connection puzzle. Switch 6 figurines so their hands interconnect. G. “Christmas Memories” Switch puzzle. The story of a bear’s life. Place tokens in the proper order around a circular grid to tell the life story of a bear. H. “Blue Christmas” Switch puzzle. Switch blue, green, red, and yellow tokens with connectors on their ends so that all tokens of the same color connect in a smooth line.
