Turbogems is rated 2.3 out of 5 by 7.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Yes, the controls are a little glitchy but I LOVED IT& BOUGHT it It is a retro game, but that really is no reason to dislike it. It is a classic arcade game and it makes me pleased to think we might begin to see a resurgence of these types. of games. The need to switch between the mouse and keyboard only happened to me when hitting "continue" to go on to the next level and I did not have any problem with the matches being recognized appropriately, making me wonder if the machine the game is being played on is a factor in this situation. We have 5 laptops including an Alienware between my husband and I and I will test this possible explanation out just out of general interest. The game took me back in time but in a good way. It is fast paced, but not overly so and I will be 65 next month. I definitely recommend this game! Give it a chance!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Old timey fun Its a fun game that I recommend younger folks to try. Its supposed to be hard to get higher levels, by the way. I already have a tetris genre game that I have played for 20 yrs every morning with my wake up coffee: Zentris. Its not sold anywhere any more so I treat my old floppy like a bar of gold and even recently bought a refurbed 1997 computer to continue to play it when my 25yr old 1995 computer finally died. Enjoy.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from IT'S A STRESSFUL GAME AND I COULDN'T MAKE IT PAST LEVEL 12 :( Okay, admittedly I used to love playing Tetris back in the day and I was really good at it, but now I must just be too old lol. I did enjoy playing the first 8 or 9 levels but then it just became wicked stressful and by the time I made it to level 12 tiles were just piling up so fast that it was clear I'd be struggling to beat level 12 much less the rest of the levels which surely would be even more difficult. There are 3 different types of match 3 games but I only tried 2 of them because the third one requires you to beat level 15 to unlock and clearly that wasn't happening (PowerStacks Mode) The Super Match mode requires you to remove background tiles that are on the board by making matches over them in the same manner as the Classic Match mode. In Classic Match Mode or the main mode, you are tasked with making matches of colored tiles in a Horizontal, Vertical or Diagonal direction. Tiles of various lengths and color combinations drop from the top of the screen and you simply click to place them in whichever column you choose, you can left-click to make the tiles drop faster. Matches of 4 or 5 will fill the progress bar faster and Diagonal matches are better than horizontal or vertical matches. The level ends when the progress bar is filled. As you progress, various Power-up tiles are added that must be matched with identical colored tiles to activate with the exception of the Random Gem which can be matched with any color. There is a Bomb Tile that destroys adjacent tiles, Row and Column Busters that destroys an entire column or row, Color Bombs that destroy all tiles of the same color, and Rare Blocks that create a Meteor Storm. There are 21 Trophy Achievements to earn and 36 Titles to level up to, but I found the constant awards to be annoying because it halted the game mid-way to award you with a new achievement or new title and it takes you out of the zone in my opinion. I thought it was really fun at first and it reminded me of the old Tetris style games but I couldn't get past level12 after 4 attempts and I found myself becoming completely stressed over the fast pace of the game and decided I probably don't need more stress. I think I'll pass on this one.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Might be worth a free game code Not a game I would play for long at a time, but I've been buying a lot of Collector's editions lately, so have several free game codes to use up. I think it would be less stressful to play without the distracting background of falling rocks!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from A trip in a time machine, literally These types of games were around decades ago and reminds me of the early games I used to play on a games console. As to the game it needs a lot of refining, very clunky, maybe that was the point of it to take us back but for me it has not worked. The first instructions tell you to match 3 by dropping the same colors to match yet it does not always make a match even though you have 3 or more together. I found the orange and red too close in color so struggled with that . It claims 3 different modes, yes there are but you need to have completed 10 and 15 levels of the classic game to be able to play them. As I was not prepared to buy this game I have no idea what the other modes are like but going by the classic I was not impressed. Some may like it but try the demo and see for yourselves. As for me , very disappointed.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Can't Get Away From Bad Games, Even In A Spaceship! Well, the name of this Match 3 and the spaceship theme led me to thinking this should be great. I was eager to try the demo after reading the synopsis. The game fell far short of its description. I remember playing this type of match game years ago, dropping the boxes onto the pile, the goal being to prevent the stack from reaching the top. So right away, this had an outdated feel to it. But my curiosity kept me going for a while. The mechanics definitely need improving, the game was not fun and even when I dropped my appropriate matches, it was not always acknowledged as a match. This made it frustrating and more difficult than need be, slowing the pace of the game. The game offers 3 play modes, but then you discover that a required number of levels have to be cleared before you can access the modes. This seemed silly to me and I soon lost interest in continuing on. Frankly, I didn't play much of the demo because it just felt like an unpleasant chore to keep going. I was disappointed since quality Match 3 games are so scarce these days. The spaceship theme seemed like a great idea to bring some new life into this much loved genre. Maybe you will have a more positive experience than I did and I hope it turns out to be a better game than what the demo shows. I just couldn't hang in there til the end because my expectations weren't satisfied in the least. Try the demo, judge for yourself.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from A Little Too Retro I only lasted 5 minutes with this game. The controls were awful, I had to keep switching between my mouse, the touch screen, and the track pad. I'm not sure if it had any kind of story to it, it just wasn't worth the effort needed to find out. Come on, Big Fish, you can offer better games than this garbage.
