Emerland Solitaire 2 Collector's Edition is rated 3.1 out of 5 by 18.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Addicted to this solitaire game. I love the challenge to get 3 stars in this solitaire game. I can repeat the level until I reach my goal. I look forward to getting back to this game while playing other games. The music is lovely and the graphics are beautiful. I see no downside to this game for me. Give this game a try and see for yourself if you enjoy it like I do.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stunningly beautiful game This is one of the most beautiful games I have ever played! I never played the previous game, but I've played and enjoyed the endless version, so I figured I would like this and I was right. The story is pretty predictable, but the spectacular graphics and enchanting music more than make up for it. Solitaire fans who enjoy a fantasy setting will definitely want to give this one a look.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I'VE WAITED FOR THIS GAME FOREVER BUT.... The Chronicles of Emerland Solitaire was one of my absolute favorite Solitaire games. I bet I played that game a thousand times, it was that good! When I learned that a new Emerland was on the horizon I just knew I was going to love it and I could hardly stand the wait...but I am a tad bit disappointed that it lacks the pizzazz of its predecessor. You can play in an Easy or Advanced Mode and the first chapter has an annoying Card Shake tutorial if you hesitate for a second before choosing a card on the board, but fortunately, that goes away after the first chapter! There are only 3 Card Backs to choose from, none of which are that attractive. (you'd expect a few more choices in a CE version?) There are 3 Card Fonts, the default font is about as plain as it gets but the font is large enough for anyone to see easily. There is a Themed Card and a more modern large font as well, and 10 Achievements to earn. Combos start at 5 Cards, and it's almost impossible to earn all 3-stars without making several combos because they were very stingy with the number of deck cards so the hand is over almost before it begins, and the combos and cards remaining are what fills the stars for "energy". Fortunately, you can Replay levels, and even better, you can click the score window to bring up the replay/continue tabs quickly. Eventually, you will meet various characters that will join your quest to save Emerlands Magic. These characters can be used to change a deck card into a useful card or remove a lingering card, for example. These character boosters need to be recharged after every use by removing specific card suits such as Hearts or Diamonds. What I dearly missed was the Hidden Object Scenes after every Chapter. In the original Chronicles of Emerland, they had amazing Hidden Object Scenes where you had to find Cards, Ravens, etc. and there was always a few objects that really hard to find because they were so well-hidden! This Collector's Edition version has 10 Achievements, 5 Music Soundtracks, 5 Artwork Wallpapers, and an Extra Chapter that's supposedly more challenging. I thought the game was plenty challenging, as I said earlier, they don't give you very many deck cards and it's difficult to make large combos, thus it's difficult to earn enough energy to fill all 3-stars and I had to replay most of the levels a few times. I was really excited about this game, but it didn't thrill me as much as the original version, therefore, since this CE version doesn't seem to have anything special, I think I will wait for the SE version and replay The Chronicles of Emerland 1~come join me at my new forum thewoodsforum.boards.net

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Couldn't Believe My Eyes! After such a long time we have a new Chronicles of Emerland. It is not as spectacular as the first, but with the rash of poor solitaire games we've been getting, it is definitely a welcomed treat. I enjoyed the demo to the end, the graphics were clear and very colorful, and the game ran smoothly. No HO scenes this time which will be sorely missed. I think they should have been included, especially since this a CE. There's an assortment of character power-ups that provide a helping hand, but they are not available in the very beginning. They must recharge after each use, which doesn't take long. I didn't like the card backs, too few and not very pretty. The large card fonts were helpful to my aging eyes. There was no artistic flair to their design but guess that doesn't matter much, really. I just like pretty things, even in solitaire games. The game was challenging, I think mostly due to the shortage of deck cards but I also found making large combos to be pretty tough. I had trouble earning 3 stars, but the levels can be replayed. Still, that becomes tedious if it takes more than a few attempts to reach my goal and I will lose interest. So the challenge is definitely present, which I certainly prefer over the too-easy games we see so often. It's a shame that more features and extra content aren't included in this new version of Chronicles of Emerland. It is just not worth the CE price. I have plenty of great oldies to entertain me until the SE version is available. In spite of this being a watered down version of the original, I think the SE will be good enough to add to my solitaire collection.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not as good as the original I enjoyed the first game and was overjoyed when I saw this. However I am disappointed. Maybe it is because I played this in relax but in order to get the most out of a demo I always play it in relaxed. That way I can see how much further in, a game improves. For me I found very little difference in challenge from the first level to the last of the demo, not even an opponent to fight, just a sprig at the last moment which was no challenge at all to remove. It really did not excite me at all and the first game was way more challenging in the demo period. After all it is demo's that sell games. Next thing, I detest it when there is no indication of how many levels you get extra in a CE. Why can't they say 50 extra levels or however many there are ? For me this is so not worth a CE but we will only find that out for sure when the SE comes out even then I doubt if I will buy this . Maybe the other mode is more of a challenge ? Try the demo and see what you think. I have a feeling this has more to offer but that was certainly not visible in the demo .

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I'll wait for the SE version I agree with others in that the first Emerland was much better than this one. I loved the first one and was sad when the game was over. I will say one thing for this newest addition; it's gorgeous visually. This just doesn't cut it for a CE game. There isn't enough CE bling for me. I don't care about artwork, soundtracks, or wallpapers in any game. This one has an additional chapter, but that's not enough to make me want to pay the CE price, even on sale. It's also a bit of a bummer that there are no VO's - just moving lips and dialogue to read. Basically, I like the game and will be getting it when the SE is available. I'm on the fence about recommending the game. If you haven't played the first Emerland, it will be easier for you to be accepting of this game. I might recommend it as a SE game; but not as a CE game. You'll just have to try it for yourself, I guess.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not as good as the first game Why can't we choose whether we want to have to go through the tutorial? Many of us have played this kind of game for years, and we don't want to go through the tutorial like a novice. Didn't like the shaking of cards in the first part of the game that tells me which cards I can take. I never say this about a game, but... this whole game appears to be directed at children rather than adults. The way things are explained, and the wizard keep talking to us every time we finish a level, makes me feel as if I am in a sanatorium where I have to be calmed down with soothing words. I don't miss the hidden object scenes - don't like them in card games - but I miss the extras like building a bridge and finding the wood behind the cards, and such. All in all an OK game, but it really feels like a kid's game. I do recommend it because, as card games go, it's good enough to play.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from CAVEAT EMPTOR! I can see exactly where this game is heading - straight to another Emerland never ending money pit like the last one. The only way you will ever get 3 stars per game is if you use lots of mana/energy. I played the full game and 'extra chapter' using my mana sparingly and could only get 2 stars at the most without using the mana for the most part. I didn't realize until my 2nd time around that the seemingly unlimited undo's were actually costing me 5 mana after the first use. I completed the game and the final chapter by using about 6000 mana and started at the beginning to try and get 3 stars for each level. I had 5000 mana and it took me as far as level 175 out of the 240 levels before I ran out. That's including at least another 3000 mana accumulated during the 2nd round. Also, I had to play levels over sometimes 3 or 4 times just to get the 2 stars without dipping into the mana. Completing the chapter will not get you stars, you have to make strings of at least 12 to 15 cards to get to the half full mark of the 3rd star and can only beat the level with 3 stars if you have at least 2 or more cards left over. Most of the time it cost me 150 mana because I would have to use at least 3 of the helpers and they cost 50 mana each. And you only make a max of 50 mana if you get all 3 stars, 25 for 2 stars, 10 for 1 star and zero for no stars. The Wizard is quite the character because he doesn't even deign you with a look if you get no stars, a stink eye if you only get 1 star, a nod and a half smile for 2 stars and 3 nods and a full on smile for 3 stars. Although, his remarks were kind his demeaner was haughty. It was an ok game at first extremely frustrating because beating a level is what it's all about for me and the game was made so that it was extremely difficult if not impossible to beat the levels with 3 stars. Which is where I came to the conclusion that it will be made a pay as you go game so you can beat the levels albeit paying a ton of money to do so. Not my thing, so count me out. I have zero tolerance for money grabbing never ending games. The extra chapter was just 75 extra levels with no battles and was not part of the original story/game - just a weird addon. it was decent play but would wait for a sale to purchase.
