Golden Rails: Small Town Story Collector's Edition is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 21.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from What's Not To Like? If you like this type of puzzle/resource gathering game, well, pard'ner, this 'uns fer you! When you become exhausted from adventure gaming, as I often do, it's so much fun to take a train ride with these varmint-fightin' galoots! Graphics are great, storyline terrific (I play timer- hate that blasted thang! lol). And the game is truly a challenge with new ....well...challenges. I'm thoroughly enjoying this when my new adventure games make my head ache and I need a break. Worth the buy if you're into this kinda gaming. Me? I'm luvin' it! :-)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fun time management game! I have thoroughly enjoyed playing this game. There is enough of a challenge to keep the mind focused on a strategy needed to obtain 3 stars while not being so difficult one is forced to give up and accept 2 stars. Good TM games are few and far between anymore, so when one such as this appears, it almost makes it worth the wait. Just wish there were more TM games, but understand the level of development and quality control/checks affects the ability to get good games produced. So, I will replay this and other great TM games (New Yankee, Incredible Dracula, Rescue Team) over and over and over until the next great TM game.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic TM Game I really love this game! I was hoping that since I really enjoyed the first Golden Rails game that this one would be as good and I was not disappointed. It is so much fun and it gets more involved as you continue through the game.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love Golden Rails! After waiting a long time for a good TM game Golden Rails fits the bill. This sequel is just as good as the previous game. Full of interesting gameplay. A delight for TM game fans.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic fun Agree with everyone else-if you want a fun, challenging TM game this is it. It is packed with things to do and the owls are really hard to find (so would recommend either using the strategy guide or playing untimed first!!) You will enjoy this one-promise

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Another winner! TM just like the old days. This is such a feel good, clever, jam packed TM it takes me back to why I became addicted to them in the first place. There are three modes of play including relaxed and hard. This game is full of features, cows to first catch then pen to produce food, buildings to repair and staff, holes, bridges, trees to cut, and in this one you dont just put people in houses or indians in tee pees..you have to pay the middle man and welcome both indians and settlers at a price. The main feature of this game is the railroad, always in need of repair, but also delivering much needed supplies as well as on some levels the opposite, needing to be loaded. There are sheriffs and bandits and just about everything you expect in the wild west including buying dynamite to get rid of blockages, and indian totems that both make it rain to replenish your trees, but also get rid of large obstacles. There is a collectable owl on each level making up the 'wanted' gallery, and there are 50 levels plus 10 in the bonus section. Every 10 levels there is also a 'shootem up' game where you have to shoot the bandits popping out from behind trees and if you get them all and the flying ducks..you get your three stars. Its a real game of strategy, you will have to work out exactly how much of a resource to buy, how many workers to hire, or the right direction to head. This developer has put a lot of thought into this and on one level I got to the end and found I did not have enough money because I bought one too many dynamite. There is a numbered and verbal strategy guide..and it shows the owls. You can return to a level to collect them without needing to fully repeat. Its got the lot! Its warm, its fun, it's challenging and varied. Always try the demo, but it really takes me back to the days when developers made sure they came up with quality goods for a TM. Enjoy!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from YEE-HAW! This developer has never disappointed me, they know how to create amazing Time Management games that have unique themes, and interesting features that are just downright fun to play! This developer brought us New Yankee, Rose Riddle, Viking Brothers, and Weather Lord, all of which are highly-rated game series, and my personal favorites. You can play in an Easy, Untimed Mode, a Normal Mode, or Hard Mode with tighter Time-limits. My only complaint is that you have to start from the beginning if you switch modes. Sometimes I like to switch to the easy mode if I'm having difficulties earning all 3-stars until I figure out the best strategy, and then I'll switch back to Normal or Hard to earn my 3-stars. This is definitely a strategy-based game and you'll have to queue tasks correctly in order to complete the level goals. There is so much to do, and you'll be doing it in different seasons, Autumn, Winter, Summer, and Spring! You'll have to repair railway sections, repair railway stations so you'll be able to unload train cargos full of supplies, such as Ore or food, Trade merchants for tools needed for the job at hand, chase away Bandits, rescue Settlers, and build them houses to collect rent, catch cows and corral them into pens to get food (apparently, cows provided people with ears of corn back in the Wild West days?) and of course, you'll have to clear obstacles, mine gold, gather food, remove traps, and chop down lots of trees as well as hire extra workers. Some tasks require two or more available workers, and workers assigned to cut wood at the sawmill, for example, can be "unhired" if you need them for another task. Each scene has a hidden Yustas owl that peeks out from behind a bush. There are 60 "Wanted Owls" total, 51 Town improvements, 50 Settlers & Indians to rescue, 30 Bandits to arrest, 300 Houses to build, 50 Wigwams to build, 100 sections of Railway to repair, 1,000 Letters to collect and 5 Shooting Ranges to shoot pop-up bandits and ducks (reminds me of the Golden Trails HOG), no one's getting bored with this game! Bonuses are added at certain levels, 4-8-1-5-18-22-24-29-33-36-39-and 45. The bonuses help speed up workers, produce more resources, etc. This Collector's Edition version has 50 main levels and 10 CE levels. There's also 60 Collectible Owls, 4 Wallpapers, and 5 Music Soundtracks as well as a Built-in Strategy Guide that show where the Collectible Owls are located. The Shooting Range levels (5) may or may not be included in the SE version, but I couldn't wait until its release to find out, I had to buy this one today! Rated 5 out of 5 by from A pure gem, or should I say nugget ? This game is from the same team that give us the New Yankee series so I just knew we were in for a treat. We are back on the railroads building and repairing railways to get our heroes further in to the wild west. From the very start there is a lot going on, no slow levels its all go from the start as you would expect from these developers. I like the additions of switching points to get the right trains where they need to go then you need to allocate workers which is a reminder of the New Yankee games but it is totally different with the wild west in the forefront. The previous game was not a CE but I think they have added enough to warrant a CE although maybe a few more levels extra would have been the icing on the cake. 10 extra levels plus a strategy guide , the owls have returned and are not easy to find however you can look for them afterwards if you wish to play in a challenging mode . Because there is so much going on it may be an idea to play the demo in relaxed mode in order to get you further in to the game. You can change the mode if you wish at any time during the game but you would need to start afresh for each mode until you progress with each mode then you just start where you left off. In the previous game I had to change my cursor as it was very jumpy but that does not seem to be a problem here. I will wait till we get a sale on before purchasing this as I can't find a suitable game for the BOGO as I have all the ones I want. Anyhow I recommend this game , try the demo and see what you think but if you like your TM's then you will love this, a great challenge.
