Rated 5 out of 5 by from Right Up There With Park Ranger And Cruise Director What a treat! I bought the CE for the extra levels but the SE will be just as much fun without them. Either version is worth every penny of the cost. The developer didn't skimp on anything and the quality shines through. It's nice to see a glimpse of my home-state as I play Vacation Paradise: California. The graphics are super sharp and colorful, the many features and extras make it lots of fun and more interesting. There are 3 Difficulty Modes. The Easy Mode comes without a misclick penalty and a shorter recharge time. The 5 HO styles allow whichever you prefer for each location and can be changed each time you return to that scene. There is a flag or a bear to find in each scene which unlock an Unlimited Mode and bonus gameplay. There is also an 8 ball in some scenes. I found each easy to locate and searched before starting on the list, so I wouldn't forget about them. The mini-games were a little too easy but still enjoyable. However, the hidden objects were quite the challenge due to their small size and being so well blended into the scenery. The magnifying glass helped me out a few times. You can replay the scenes as often as you like which is great if you strive for that perfect game. Each location comes with a bit of interesting trivia which is kept in a diary along with your Achievements. A score board appears after each level, showing your accumulated points as you progress. Extra points are earned in a variety of ways and the faster you can find the HOs, the more points you get. I liked that extra challenge. This excellent game provides plenty of HO entertainment , the mini-games are fun, plus the replay value makes it a very good deal. Point8 Games knows how to do it right. No evidence here of poor quality or lack of creative effort. It is so nice to make a purchase that really satisfies!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from IT'S JUST AS ENJOYABLE THE SECOND TIME AS IT WAS THE FIRST Even though I purchased and played the Collector's Edition version of this game, I still enjoyed playing this Standard Edition version. When a game is just as enjoyable the second time around, you know it's a decent game! The graphics are really good, the scenery is interesting, and there's a ton of different features, collectibles, and fun facts for each scene location, even in this Standard Edition version. Point8Games are the developers who brought us the Adventure Trip series and in my opinion, this game is more interesting...maybe because I love camping and nature. There are 5 different Hidden Object Modes, Listed Items, Silhouetted Shapes, Missing Vowels, Riddle Descriptions, and Scrambled Letter. You can replay the scenes AND you can choose which mode you want to play or simply follow the default which gives you a different mode each time you replay the scene. You will receive extra points when you find objects Quickly and for me, it was an added challenge to try to find the items first, and then click on them all at once so I could see if I could remember where they all were as I watched the point amount increase with each correct selection. (you can also achieve accuracy awards) You will receive 14,000 points when you don't use the Hint and another 14,000 points for 100% Accuracy. You can play in an Easy Mode which gives you 15 second Hint recharges and no Misclick Penalties, a Medium Difficulty with a Misclick Penality, and a 35 second Hint Recharge, or a Hard Mode with a Misclick Penalty and a 60 second Hint Recharge. The scenes will have either a Hidden Bear or a Hidden Flag that will be shown at the top and beforehand as a silhouetted shape, Some of the scenes have an 8-Ball as well (60 each) Finding all 60 Bears will Unlock the Unlimited Play, and collecting all 60 Flags will Unlock the Bonus Mini-Game section. The Diary holds all the Fun Facts about each location, and there are 19 Souvenirs that are actually Achievements. Each scene has 14 Items to find and some of the CE scenes have Sparkle Zoom Zone areas that disappear once you find all the items, as well as interactive items in Blue Text that require an Interaction to complete such as dragging gazebo parts to fix the roof. The only feature I wasn't happy with was the Magnifying Glass which disappears every time you click on an object, and you have to click on it to use it again, which is kind of annoying because you can't find items quickly while using this feature when it disappears after every click. After playing a few Hidden Object Scenes, you will play a various Mini-Game such as Spot the Difference, Mahjong, Match 3, Word Search, a Memory Card Game, or Sudoku. The mini-games were a little too easily solved and I love "Spot-the-Difference" games but I wish they had gone the extra mile to make subtle changes in the scenery versus simply adding hidden objects to one of the scenes because anyone can spot something that is added to a scene, especially when they are large objects that aren't native to the scenery. You will visit familiar Vacation destinations throughout California, such as Santa Catalina Island, Death Valley, the Golden Gate, the Hearst Castle, Hollywood Boulevard, the Joshua Tree, Cable Cars, Lake Tahoe, the Lighthouse, Mammoth Mountain, the Monterey Aquarium, Napa Valley, The Observatory, The Palace of Fine Arts, Palm Springs, Santa Barbara, Santa Monica, the Cali Zoo, and Yosemite National Park. The Collector's Edition version has 14 additional scene locations that are incorporated within the regular locations and are marked with a CE rosette. Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good but not this developers best I really like this dev and most of their games. I bought this one and should have played it first. No story line just HOGs There are options on how to play and format your game to fit your style, but just HOG and HOG scenes.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not created by US English speakers My main complaint with this game is that they refer to things using words we do not use. For example, they called a nuthatch a sparrow, a hand trowel a spade, a Canada goose a swan, a boom box a stereo, a paint scraper a gouge - well, you get the point. That makes the game much less enjoyable for me. I get it if you call a bat either a baseball bat or a flying mammal because that's a fair puzzle, but to just call things something they are not is no fun because part of the scoring is not having to take hints and if you are looking for a swan but they really want a Canada goose you will likely have to either take a hint or have a misclick which is also a penalty. I bought it after the demo, and I'll finish it when there's nothing else to do but it needs improvement for the American market. If this is somehow an American product then the developer needs to brush up on his identification of a number of things. Since it is OK for me I would recommend you do the trial demo and see what you think.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Same old stuff This game hasn't got much more to offer than any of the other games in the series. One feature I did like was that I was in control of what mode I wanted to play in. Riddle, Scramble, Word, Missing Vowels etc. My biggest disappointment is that in every chapter, you are looking for the same objects: Harp, binoculars, bird, seagull, ruler, although the object style may differ. A phone might be an old-style receiver or cell phone (example). This is just a another run-of-the-mill hidden object game that really hasn't got enough going for it that I want to use a game credit.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not a good hop I stopped playing at the first picture. Poor quality of images and mislabelled items ; e.g. picture of goldfinch represented as sparrow.
