Dark Tales: Edgar Allan Poe's Speaking with the Dead Collector's Edition is rated 2.9 out of 5 by 13.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Only Worth Playing Trial to See the Fire Dance If you like the Dark Tales EA Poe series, you won't like this one. I read the reviews and checked the static pictures and was not going to even try the trial until I read the reviews about the fire dance scene, I downloaded the trial just to see it and form my own opinion. Turns out my opinion is the same as other reviewers... it's hoot. I tried a thinking of a couple of songs to match the rhythm of their fire stomp. "I'm 'Bout to Lose My Mind, Up in Here" seemed to work well, "Hooked on a Feeling" did not. I would, like others, recommend downloading the trial to confirm it really is lackluster AND to see the fire dance. That was worth it, it made me laugh out loud and I had difficulty having my character extinguish the blaze because, well, it was too fun to watch the fire dance.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from This series has finished.... Sorry, but this game is SO bad....all smoke and mirrors..literally! Laughed my head off at Dupin and one of the characters trying to put the fire out - thought they were doing a jig! Please don't waste your money on this turkey!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Run, Run Away Dupin has been called in to investigate as jurors from an old court case are disappearing. Could Dr. Brian, the magician, quickly executed after his trial, be responsible? In the opening scene of this turkey, you will find the missing amulets to open a locked cage in the front yard of the house you are trying to enter. As you start the HOP inside the cage these words appear: "Someone has locked up the fire extinguisher to keep it from falling into the wrong hands." I'd already taken note of the dark artwork, the sorry mini-game at the window, and the story setup that left a great deal to be desired. Somehow that locked and chained fire extinguisher was symbolic of the game before me. As I trudged through more of the Demo, I found that the story and game play were just dim shadows of a once popular series. Please play the demo. Read the reviews. Do something more fun, like spring cleaning!
