Uncharted Tides: Port Royal Collector's Edition is rated 3.3 out of 5 by 27.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good game, but I really liked this game when I started playing. The story line was great but there are pros and cons. Pro: The graphics are good. The mini-games match the story.. The game is long, so you get your monies worth. I do not play with sound so I cannot comment on that. Con: While the story line is good, the game gets confusing. For a custom game, I still had to use the hint button. In fact, I had to skip several of the mini-games. because I could not figure them out. I realize that these kinds of games are made for everyone. So, what some people call easy, others call hard.. All in all, I recommend this game.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from YEAH!!! A PIRATE GAME AT LAST It is beyond me that there were some people who gave this game a bad review. I found it to be enjoyable and humourous. Someone said the voiceovers were very bad. I did not find them to be a problem. When playing these games you have to expect that award winning actors are not doing the voicesovers, but everyday people. Just enjoy the game for what it is. Sun, sea, pirates and bullet stealing parrots. I only played the demo for about 30-40 minutes, but both my daughter and I were impressed with this game in every aspect. I decided to check it out upon seeing it as editor's choice for today. I was intrigued by the storyline. I noticed that one of the characters was named Jack and I was glad to see that he is as different to Captain Jack Sparrow as night is to day. I love the bullet stealing, people biting macaw Crazy George and I am jealous that he looks better in a pirate's hat than I do. The visuals, audio and the overall graphics are brilliant. The attention to detail, especially the ship at the beginning, is impressive and beautifully represented. I look forward to purchasing this game and continuing the adventure.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great game I am confused I do not know why all the bad reviews. I had so much fun playing this game. It was refreshing to see the length of this game for a change. It was on sale but I would of paid full price for it. I will definitely play it again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best game I've played in a while What fun I had while going on this wonderful adventure with these seafarers. Jack was accompanying Jane in a quest to find her father. The best part for me was I didn't feel like the adventure was interrupted by one puzzle after another. While the HOs weren't the most creative they were rather interactive. I for one am anxious for a sequel to rid the curse!! I enjoyed how Jack and Jane got separated and the story was told by one and then the other throughout the game. Excellent story, GREAT voice overs. Well done..... The bonus game told how Jack happened to be on her ship in the first place.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from REAL INNOVATION IN STORYTELLING This brief review to add my vote and voice to Pennmom's on this game and to encourage others to not miss it. The shifting of viewpoints between Mary Jane and Jack is handled in such a way that it creates cliff hangers such as drove the old movie serials and more than that makes for two intertwined and dovetailing stories which both go beyond the played out narrative to be completed in our imagination and making the whole story richer and deeper by that. Produced by the developer who gave us the amazingly innovative "My Brother Rabbit" this from Cordelia shows how conventions, tropes, of a genre (in this case pirate stories) can be made new and fresh by the way they are combined and woven together and this gives hope surely for all of us who have played it seemed too many games and felt more and more a terrible sameness. Enjoy!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from WE'VE ASKED FOR NEW PLOTS AND CORDELIA DELIVERS ONCE AGAIN! Completed Game approximately 6.5 hours (including CE Bonus Chapter & all mini-games) Aarr, Cap'n Owens has gone missin' lads! Surely foul play be at hand here. I'll get t' th' bottom o' this catastrophe, 'n when I find out wha' those scurvy dogs scallywags be up to, I be 'avn' 'em walk th' plank t' Davy Jones' Locker, so's they be feedn' th' fish! Who doesn't love a good Pirate-themed game? Uncharted Tides reminded me of an older, 3-game series about pirates that coincidentally was developed by AM, the producer of this game (don't know if I can name-names?) I for one, have loved every game developed by this new Developer! Call me crazy, but I'm so tired of stories about black mist entities and revengeful spirits, etc. so I'm 100% grateful for the amazing storylines these guys are bringing to the table, storylines that are really fresh and creative. I'm so grateful, I'm willing to overlook the somewhat mundane HO scenes and simplistic Mini-Games, but as far as developers go, these guys are just getting started! They are still brand new and shiny, they are learning on the fly but mark my words, these guys are going straight to the top of the HOPA pile. There are 19, yes 19 Hidden Object Scenes (+ 3 in the CE Bonus Chapter) I wasn't as impressed with these HO scenes as I was with the ones offered in Cordelia's first BF release. I found a lot of objects to be somewhat undefined. The graphics in many of the HO scenes seemed to be purposely blurred in an attempt to hide the objects. Most of the scenes are Listed Item Finds but there are also Interactive Listed Item Finds, Sketched Picture Finds, Silhouetted Shape Finds, Related Object Finds, and Symbol Finds There are 29 Mini-Games (+5 in the CE Bonus Chapter) There is a repetitive Lockpick Mini-Game where you have to pull out each unobstructed bar correctly, but it's only used 5 times during the main chapters and a couple of times during the CE Bonus Chapter. Although the mini-games are easily solved, I enjoyed most of them and found them to be relaxing and a nice change of pace. Below are brief descriptions of some of my favorites: ?Rotate the maze to navigate two colored balls into their color-coded slots. ?Use directional arrows to navigate the ship to port, using obstacles as bumpers. ?? ?Trap the octopus before it reaches the edges of a hexagonal board. ??? ?Thread the rope between the holes w/o crossing the same line twice. ??? The Collector's Edition Bonus Chapter winds back the clock to when Jack first met Mary Jane to highlight their Troubled Waters relationship. There are 3 Hidden Object Scenes and 5 Mini-Games, but there are no Morphing Rose Petals remaining in this average sized Bonus Chapter. The Magic Compass isn't used in the Bonus Chapter but the Lockpicks are used twice (with 2 Lockpick mini-games to complete) This Collector's Edition version has 6 Wallpapers (and no characters slapped on them to ruin the beauty!) 12 Concept Art Pictures, 5 Music Soundtracks, 8 Story-based & 14 Skill-based Achievements, 23 Replayable Mini-Games, 15 Replayable Hidden Object Scenes, 32 Morphing Rose Petals, 6 Main Chapters (very lengthy chapters) +Bonus Chapter (Troubled Waters) and a Built-in Strategy Guide.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I agree I beta tested this game and am so glad to see it out. I agree with pennmom, It's a change from the same old same old. And who doesn't love a good pirate adventure, Plus it is not a short game either. It's not difficult, but enjoyable

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Don't understand all the negative reviews In the many years I've been playing BG games, I've only written a couple reviews. I really wanted to write this one because I honestly enjoyed this game. Now maybe the developers made some improvements or fixed some glitches from when the game debuted, but I didn't have any tech issues at all. The mini games and HOPS were not real challenging, but I was more interested in the story line and loved the interaction between the characters. I agree with some of the other reviewers, the pirate story was fun! It was so much more intertaining than all the "done to death" storylines that are so prevenlent in most games. I am so bored with most of what comes out these days. This was a nice change! If you are on the fence about it due to all the poor reviews, just give the free trial a chance and it you don't like it, no big deal. But who knows, you just might be pleasantly surprised! I sure was!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A fun, laid back game I was really enjoying this game. Its not the most challenging, but I do love a pirate story. However, I'm quite far through the game and have just collected a hatchet...which has now disappeared from my inventory! So now I can't complete the game!!!
