Alicia Quatermain 4: Da Vinci and the Time Machine Collector's Edition is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 17.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from What A Very Pretty Game Yes, folks, this is a timed resource management game, where you build, collect, discover, and use your brain every so often in order to complete quests before level's time is up. There's easy, normal and difficult modes, and difficult means what it says. Now this game is a collaboration of two well-known, awesome game developers and you will find little hints of other games they've done but this is unique and stands on its own. Richly colored, beautiful graphics and details, some surprise paths starting early, and the fun feature of self-building buildings which lets your workers keep working uninterrupted. The plot is in the same genre as Chase for Adventure, with exploration in the jungles theme. Look sharp or you'll miss some obstacles in your path. There are little gold stars to mouse over to get your bonuses refilled faster. Only thing I didn't like so much is that I couldn't X out of the frequent dialogs, only click thru. You can use your system pointer, adjust the music and environmental sounds and disable the tutorial. I'm in the demo right now but the collector's edition is for me for the extra 11 levels. Nice game, very much recommended!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Alicia Quatermain 4: Da Vinci and the Time Machine What a fun game! I haven't completed it yet, but felt the need to say how much I'm enjoying the beautiful artwork, cute characters and interesting additions. There are new elements not present in previous Alicia Quatermain games, but many of my favorites remain. My only quibble with this game is that those who, through no fault of their own, are unable to play in timed mode do not receive stars and therefore cannot enjoy one of the bonus components of this game. However, playing in untimed mode does give the player ample time to appreciate the very detailed and lovely artwork, as I stated above. All in all, a great game!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Feel good Fun..Plenty to do. The extraordinary can often overshadow the merit of the excellent. This game on its merits is not the 'greatest' TM ever made, but it really is a fabulous quality offering. A standard gather resources, meet the goals, upgrade, build and explore. Even though there is not a great amount of difference in the gameplay to others in the series, the developers have made a great effort to give variety, thoughtful timing, good strategy and pleasant graphics. The gameplay is very smooth. A few features different from the others in the series is that the tasks are not all shown at the start..just when you think you have finished with plenty of time..a new task pops up, and you need to hope you have not been neglecting any collections, or upgrades along the way in your view of how well you are doing against the timer. You really never know when you are 'quite finished'. I loved this. There is also a bonus room Museum to restore with your level stars. One other very new feature is you are often taken aside during a level to explore a cave which has the major resources you need and then you return to the level to complete it. I think this adds to the fun factor. There is of course the familiar play in this series, collecting a puzzle piece on each level for a jigsaw (which are well hidden in this one but you can go back and collect them anytime) The CE strategy guide also shows where they are. Achievements are shown on the map, and there are three levels of difficulty. Something for all. At the end of the day it's a great little gem, and has the fun factor feeling of actually rushing around, using bonuses and strategy wisely and wondering what may be in store on each level and enough variety to keep your interest. Enjoy!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great addition to the Quatermain Games This is just as much of a challenge as the first three were. Love the new twist of the setting being under the sea, makes a great change to this series of games. Was a lot of fun to play, fast-paced game with great color.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I give it 4.5 stars I enjoyed the entire game but was disappointed to find that by playing it in untimed mode, i was not able to redecorate the museum. There are voice overs at the start and end of each chapter and every segment has conversation to read. I enjoyed the story line and have finished the entire game. Some may feel it is not worth a CE price as there is not a bonus chapter but instead you find puzzle pieces to put together and recieve an extra segment for each puzzle. Try it and see if you like it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Did not dissappoint Great continuation of the Quartermain series. If you like the last 3 you'll enjoy playing this one too. There are a few new features and challenges to make it interesting. Some strategy and good story line. Visually it's interesting. Would like to be able to skip some of the dialogue within each level. Once you've played this, you don't need to keep reading the dialogue, developers allow skipping or moving through it quicker.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great game Have all of these games and I must say I am really enjoying this one. Thank you love time management so happy to see a new game again. Do not give a negative review if you thought a game was an HOG and not time management that is a bit unfair.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Time Management Fun I only played a few levels on the easy Untimed mode but really enjoyed the typical Time Management game with the typical bonus helpers and typical rewards. The storyline is slightly different enough to make me want to know what happens but I don't see this as Collector Edition worthy since the only Extra I see is Wallpaper which I have no interest in. So I'll wait for the SE on this one.
